i was wondering what time did most ppl finish at upstate.. i know it says 230 but i know a lot of times ppl go over... and i am trying to buy airplane tickets.. thanks guys!

Give yourself an hour wiggle room but you should be done by 230. The interview process, judging from my experience, was very organized and well run. Bueno suerte!!!!!

My application status says: Decision Made
But I never received a decision yet?
Did I get rejected?

yea i never got an interview
rejection?
what makes you say that

I applied last year and got the same "decision made" pre-interview which meant rejection. You should get a letter in the mail soon about it. Holds are notified by email and if it was an interview invite there wouldve been a link for you to schedule one. Sorry again, but good luck with the rest of your apps!

There seems to be an interview spot available for Dec 14th.

sorry to burst your bubbles but anatomy ended for the first years

SUNY Upstate finally sent me that email that said I'm on preinterview hold.

Reading the email carefully let me know (in the nicest way possible) that I would NOT get an interview anytime soon. I mean, there is no chance that there's anything left after the ENTIRE application cycle has been evaluated before my file get a second review:laugh:

Mayo (post LOR request and sec fee)and SUNY both rejected me, but I think SUNY Upstate did it in such a way that it does not hurt.

Job well done SUNY Upstate! :meanie:

I got the same thing... why not just send out a flat out rejection?

Thanks for the kind words buddy 🙂. I havent been accepted to my top choice, as a matter of fact I havent even gotten an interview at my top choice. However besides the above stated reason why I am continuing to interview, is also the fact that I want to make a decision based on financial packages.

+1 (well I have gotten interviews at some of my top choices, but I don't expect an acceptance)

Argh! these essays are killing me.

I'm pretty nervous about the "mistake" essay. I wrote about a mistake I made that harmed a research subject (it was a very minor harm). I assume med schools don't want to admit people who make mistakes, but if that's the case they really shouldn't ask such a loaded question. I hope I get props for my honesty

No one is perfect. Everyone has and will make mistakes. That's why they ask about it.

Decision Made (post-interview). I hope I find out soon.

are we sure a pre-interview hold means rejection since there was a person who got a solid rejection i.e. a status that says decision made and no interview??

I had my interview a couple of weeks after you but I'm IS.

Do you feel that the wait is easier after getting an acceptance?

Yes. definitely.
now the only uneasiness is whether i get my offer rescinded if i burn in my chm exam on monday...

Does this status page just sit on "Congrats for being accepted to Inteview" until decision made? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

Has anyone recently (last few wks) been accepted?? If so are u IS/OOS and when did u interview? Thanks....

I interviewed November 9th and I'm IS and I still haven't heard back yet in any form (phone call, mail or status page change). I imagine they're just getting more behind, especially having missed a week from Thanksgiving. The admissions committee meets tomorrow though.

I just got accepted today via phone call! Interviewed 11/11. IS. Woo!

I guess OOS/Internationals are going to take a much longer time than expected. Guess there cant be too many seats for us...

I got accepted as an International and it took them another extra 2 weeks to make a decision on my app than all the poeple I interviewed with in august.

really, a phone call???? i thought they mailed out packets if you got accepted, are you getting this as well?

and what was the area code, lol

yeah. i think its +3 weeks now for us. my status hasnt changed yet. blarh

So i have an interview on 1/11....

does that mean that i am interviewing for the waitlist? i ask because at some schools, a january interview does mean that you are interviewing for the waitlist. just figured i'd ask to see if I can know ahead of time lol.

So I was on pre-interview hold since early September. Will they start looking at the hold people again?

I believe they interview until March/April so I'd say that a January interview is fine.

Yeah! I was surprised too. It was about 4 pm, and the call came up as restricted. I got a packet in the mail the same day.

SUNY unfortunately does not take people from the pre-interview hold...🙁

What's the point of assigning hundreds of people to pre-interview hold status then? Deferring the cost of buying paper for rejection letters?

Anybody from the 10/28 interview day receive a decision? I called yesterday and they told me they haven't made a decision yet on my file (I'm IS). I still have "Congratulations on being accepted for an Interview!" on my site. I really loved the school when I visited so the waiting has been difficult.

Haha... perhaps 😛

Gives them a bit more space to juggle their slots I guess.

Wow.. it's been 6wks post interview (Int 11/2) and no word yet!!! Geeeezzz...

..is there a status update website? if so, can someone post the link?
if not, where are you guys seeing your status (is there a email)?

Thanks.

and this has been asked/debated multiple times, but I don't get it. Clearly, Upstate is straight out rejecting people pre-interview...so wouldn't that mean the people that are on pre-interview holds still have a chance?

it is not a debate. its a fact.😕

if you cant believe it. just keep hoping, its all you can do anyway at this point. or send updates.

The chance of getting accepted from the preinterview hold is extremely slim. In the past ~7yrs they only accepted 2 applicants. They primarily pull people from the post-interview hold list not the pre-interview hold list. They explain this during your interview.

^in fact, i dont even think thats the pre-interview hold list but the post-interview hold list.

the list that moves is the post-interview high priority list, then there is the hold list and then the rejections.

Thanks for the link. and that explanation makes a lot more sense than simply "preinterview hold = rejection"..i see why, given the number distribution of applicant/interview/accepted..

..damn upstate for the false hope..

Ur right, I remember the high priority hold list. To clear things up, correct me if I'm wrong,, there's a pre-interview hold (several people on this thread have been placed on that list) which pretty much is a silent rejection.

Post interview, what are da options? Is it 1. Accepted, 2. Rejected and 3. High Priority hold list?

And finally there's the indefinite wait for OOS'ers to hear about their postinterview outcomes... j/k...
