Well it looks like Tufts has finally started giving out more interviews... too bad I'm not getting any love today 🙁 Complete 9/1 and no news.

Has anyone been rejected pre-interview yet? Or are they gonna make us wait until April like so many other schools?

Seconded. Tufts is among my top 3, and I would jump at an interview. Literally jump.

me too. and apparently checking my email over and over isn't helping Tufts send one to me any faster. 🙁

Congrats to recent invites! I guess the Tufts really does announce interview invites on a Friday.

Now can they start announcing acceptances? My battery is about to die! Tufts is my top 2!

I'm starting to think they'll never announce. We'll all just sit here analyzing and waiting for the rest of our lives.....

thirded. though i'd put tufts in my top 5 or 7, not 3. but still. complete august 3 and no news yet 🙁

Not in my top 3 either, maybe top 10 or 15 (I applied to a ton of schools), and I still haven't heard--I was complete July 31. Yeah. I'm going to be rejected haha

Invite also!!!!!!!😀

There were a 3-4 dates in December, so there are 3-4 more months of interviews left guys. Don't give up!!

Not me. I'm staying on the Tufts thread of SDN until I get accepted. It's either that or hold my breath until I turn blue. 🙂

i don't understand your logic. i want this to be true, but i don't understand. 😕

I may be wrong but I think Tufts interviews till March. So that equals 4 months, if you count December which has some open dates. I think the OP could have worded it more clearly though 🙂.

Invite! Complete 9/17.

ah, i see. thanks.

I apologize, I guess I could have worded it more clearly. I was just too excited about this interview. But what MegaProjectile said is what I meant....sorry for any confusion 😀

...........andddd scheduled!

I got the email in the morning, I've been out of focus all day haha.

Anyone that interviewed already, what is the typical interview like? Conversational? More like a stress interview?

depends on your interviewer, but most are very relaxed. they have a highly structured, systematic way of doing interviews - all of them are strictly 30 minutes or less.

Congrats to everyone getting interviews!

I'm sad I'm getting no love from them 🙁 They used to be my top choice... (until I went to FSU...)

Invite today 😀 Only January dates are available now though.

So did nobody get accepted? Is that what happened? No calls? No e-mails?

🙁

I didn't hear anything - no calls or emails. This anxiety is driving me crazy! Tufts shot to the top of my list after seeing it. I really want to hear!

Nothing here either. Come on Tufts! you sent us that email, don't tease us any more. :boom:

Wow it seems like those interview dates are going fast. When I checked this morning there were a bunch in December still available. Evidently they're all gone now. Crazy.

Also - Does anyone have any advice on "in the area" emails. I'm planning on sending one to a school right now but I don't want it to sound like I feel I'm entitled to an interview. I want to be sure I sound humble, so any tips?

Here's one I wrote for Cincy. I sent it in on Friday, and got an invite on Monday(11/20), so could've worked 😀 Correlation doesn't imply causation though!

Dear UC Admissions:

Hello, my name is [Name], an applicant to the entering class of 2010. My application at UC has been complete since early August. I live in Florida, but I will be in Ohio around 11/17. I am very interested in Cincy, and I would very much like to get an update of my status soon so I can order plane tickets and plan my trip to Ohio. I understand that it takes a while to process all applications, but if I am eligible for interviewing at UC, it would be great if I can schedule it around my Ohio trip so I can save some money on airfare.

Thank you,

Thank you. This helps.

hey how is everone doing this evening? I just got a invite from this school. I was complete in mid-september. The earliest interview date in Jan.
Also I am OOS.

Ok so another really quick question about "in the area" emails: Is it a good idea to mention that you will be in the area to interview at another school? Or is it better to skip this bit and just say that you will be in the area?

Mentioning other interviews wouldn't be necessary, I would say the vast majority of schools don't care one way or another.

In most cases I'd say schools will not care too much if you are in the area unless they will interview you in the near future. However, there are a few schools that are open to phone conversation and letting them know you'll be in the area. One of those schools is Jefferson Medical College and I am sure there are many others (I just do not know them).

so when are those who interviewed in October going to find out about their fate?

i interviewed this past thursday and they told us we would find out the first two weeks of december.. hopefully sooner but thats what they told us

OK, so I haven't interviewed yet and I don't want to start rumors but, is it true, that post-interview, the worst thing that can happen is being put on a waitlist?

Interviewed applicants are reviewed by our Admissions Committee on a monthly basis and will receive notification of the Committee's decision within the first two weeks of the following month.
The applicant will either receive an Offer of Admission or will be placed on our Active Wait List. Notification will be sent via email and US post.

Tufts Medical School Students and/or people who have already interviewed here, care to comment? Thanks!

Cookiemonster 23,
Yes, you are accepted or waitlisted after an interview.Tufts tends to be strict with interview invite since they end up accepting a good number of interviewees(60+%) either through outright acceptance or off waitlist.

Does Tufts update the status page? Mine still says "Application Complete."

I read on their website that they interview about 850 applicants. Does this mean they end up accepting well over 400 students to a class of about 170? That somehow doesn't sound right.

it could be. lots of people will decide to go elsewhere.

According to US News: 7072 applied, 871 interviewed, 556 were accepted, 178 enrolled.

~64% were accepted. I don't think this includes the Maine Track applicants though. The acceptance rate may seem high but overall Tufts has a 7.9% acceptance rate which is line with other competitive solid mid-range schools.

The reason for Tufts accepting a lot is due to its stats (3.66,~33). To maintain those stats, Tufts has to over-accept since these applicants get other offers(from either top schools or schools with better fin aid) and attrition is high. Schools like GWU tend to accept those with somewhat lower stats(3.6, ~30) hence they don't risk much attrition from acceptees(30% of those interviewed get accepted).

Useful information! Thanks. I'm still surprised that they accept so many. I wish the odds were this good for interviewees at all schools.

They told us at the interview that rejection is a possibility. But I can see where putting everyone on the wait list would be to their advantage.

I think rejection is really only a possibility if you completely act like a freak at the interview or something. Otherwise they mostly will just wait-list you.
