so for the 3rd letter should i go with non-sci writing or an MD that i work with-reserach? they said they dont care and i haven't read either one so which is better?
 
Interview invite! Sept 14th. Not 100% sure when I submitted (since they never sent a complete email) but it was pretty quick after I received the secondary (7/13)

Ahhhh amazing congratulations!! Tulane sounds awesome.
 
I just got my first interview inviteeee!! omg, never been so stoked. thought i was completely hopeless this cycle!

By the way, I only had two academic letters (I guess they were okay with taking a research letter as my 3rd academic one?)... and faaaaar less than stellar numbers. Not a URM, or anything too spectacular for that matter. Hoping it's not a fluke, but it looks like Tulane might actually be taking a real look at our secondaries 🙂 Good luck everyone!

Just got an invite by email for 09/18/09. I'm not sure when I was complete but I'm pretty sure I turned the secondary around the same day. So excited!! Good luck everyone.

No email here either... submitted 7/17... did anyone with invites submit on 7/17 or later?
 
I submitted 7/13 but my letters weren't sent until the first week in August.

Although you have a 1.0 GPA 🙂p) have you considered you are an overqualified candidate for Tulane? Just an idea.

I'm pretty non-traditional though... I would take any school I could get and Tulane is a great school. 👍 Show me some love Tulane!

im just submitting my application and kinda feel behind here 😱

i just read that the 3rd letter has to be from a "faculty" of your choice so would a research PI (who is an MD) but also an assoc prof work? i have a feeling i should just go with my writing instructor just to be sure 😎
 
I got one as well for Sept 18, and yes they are sending out invites via email.

No news for me. I was complete a while ago.
 
How do you guys know you were complete?

If I remember correctly, they don't tell you on the phone and the status site is not up....?
 
hmmm...So there's no way to be sure about completion date, but what I can tell you is that AMCAS received my committee letter in mid June and that I sent in the secondary a day after I received it (July 14). Theoretically, it should have been complete the moment I pressed submit on the 14th.

That's my timeline anyhow if that helps.

Out of curiosity, what did some of you put for the "Briefly describe the reasons for your interest in Tulane University School of Medicine. (150 Words Max.)" prompt in the secondary? Did anyone talk about the city itself, do you heap praise on the school, or do you focus on your goals and how the school will fit you/help you achieve those goals?
 
Anyone think it's weird they sent the attachment as a .docx? What am I suppose to do if I can't open it?

You download the "Word Viewer" program from Microsoft that allows you to read the files but not edit them. Or if you have an older version of Word you download the converter pack.
 
Well, email letters indicating placement from Early Decision to deferment into Regular Decision went out today.

It's rather a bummer.

Anyone receiving interview invites care to PM stats?

My GF got bumped to RD and is quite upset.
 
I am not early decision. My stats are on my MDapp if you are interested.

What were her stats? I also got bumped, even though the dean of admissions gave me a 95.5% chance of getting in Early Decision. I'm pretty pissed as well.

I talked about different aspects of the school, what I thought was really fantastic about it -- just check out the website. there's all kinds of good stuff there.

As for stats, check MDapps -- that's as specific as I'm getting 🙂 Good luck to all of you -- I know I submitted really early, so there's plenty of time!
 
I was complete around 7/28 and I haven't heard anything from them. Starting to get a little worried... but it looks like calling and asking for a status update would be pointless.

I'm wondering the exact same thing.
 
Interview invite via email, OOS, my stats are ok but not amazing, I'm non-trad with tons of health care experience.
 
Interview invite! IS. I was afraid they'd forgotten about me. 🙁
