Spoke with them and the fact is that if you received a status update YOU WILL receive a secondary...so please stop the neurotic messages. There was a glitch and the lady that is in charge is sick. She will be back next week so don't expect something fast.

Yeah, the problem here (I believe) is with the email system... not the Statuses... so I would be hopeful that you will get an email if your status has changed to secondary requested... Thats what I'm getting from what they told me, and I'm sticking to that! haha, I'm Praying theres not a problem with the statuses!

I got the secondary today via email after having my online status say it was sent last week.

Thank god. Peace be with you.

So I applied to this program and was browsing their website right now (I know I'm lame it's a Friday night). But anyways, is it true that tuition is only about $10,000/year or am I missing something? Sounds to good to be true. Regardless of tuition costs, still have my :xf: for a secondary! Still hoping it will come...

Edit: I guess I was wrong earlier. Tuition for all 4 years is at the UCLA School of Medicine rate.

On a different note, does anybody know how the interview process works? Do you interview both at Drew and UCLA or do you simply interview at Drew? I know it's a long shot, but I was just wondering what happens in the event that both Geffen and Drew call you for an interview. Would it be two different interview processes? I wonder if they would ask you which program you prefer to be in and then you are only considered in that pool...anyone with knowledge on the subject, please let me know.

i got called to interview at both drew and geffen. they are both different processes

How would you answer it???

"If you had a patient who did not want you to treat them what do you do?"

I've heard multiple varying answers and wanted to know what my fellow sdners think.

To those who have interviews scheduled, are they on Saturdays like last year's thread seems to indicate? I'm trying to group this with my Geffen interview which is on a Friday and I was hoping for a Thursday but I guess Saturday is good too.

Yes, Saturday. Morning sesssion is out by ~1;15, afternoon at 3:45. The dean indicated that there would be only two more interview dates, so don't hold your breath on combining the two trips. You might have quite a wait.

BTW - They have a fantastic interview day. Nice catered lunch, med student panel, student and faculty interviews. Everyone seemed like they genuinely wanted to be there and have a say in choosing the next year's class. And they are ridiculously prompt. 🙂

I had interviews at both. Each program is considered absolutely separate, though Drew will be using the UCLA schedule for offering the first acceptances (Jan 15).

As far as which you like better - the programs, while in the same facilities for the first two (and part of the second two) years, are about as different as night and day. You'll know instantly where you belong. Drew will feel you out on your commitment to the underserved and interest in their program. If you truly have a desire to work with the underserved, Drew would be an obvious choice. Drew is UCLA + underserved. If you don't like the altruistic lean of the program (you'll get a feel of it at the interview), you'll choose UCLA, because they are otherwise identical.

Hey,

Does anyone know how I can get this secondary?? I tried e-mailing the director or the suggested email address but no response.. its been 1 week and half. Do you all have any suggestions??

Thanks,

Or could you pm me with your suggestions??

You can get the secondary by calling the director of admissions. I called her on Monday, told her I had a request for secondary on the status page, and she took my info and emailed me the secondary in a few days. She was very nice and I got the application today.

Only two more interview dates total?!?! I received an interview from Drew but can't schedule till next week, yikes.

does anyone still have the "we will notify you in november" status!

She said "We only anticipate two more interview days with 40 interviewees each day. We will interview a total of 120 applicants for the 24 spots." I can't remember exactly, but I think she said something about one in November/December and another in Feb.

Would anyone happen to know the exact two dates they are interviewing or a general idea? I know someone said one was February. Is the one before that in late november or early november?

based on last years secondary thread it seems like there was one in january and another in march..at least from what I can remember

how long did it take you guys to receive a secondary? Do they do silent rejections pre-secondary? thanks for the info...

bump...anyone?

I submitted my AMCAS application last July. Never heard anything till then. Thought it was a silent rejection when the status said to be notified Nov. 15. Emailed them and never gotten any response. Tried to call the phone and nobody answered so I left a message. 2 days later, I got my secondary on my email from Sandra. I think you just need to call and show interest, that's all. Don't email.

I wouldn't call unless your status page changes to "secondary application requested". If they don't want to send a secondary, they won't regardless of how many times you call....

I received a secondary on 09/28/09 and turned it in was received on 10/20/09. Not sure when I should hear back from them.

My application was sent as a .doc file, not writable PDF....anyone else?

O god this is so frustrating. I had this secondary sent express mail, only to have them not be there and require redelivery. On top of that, I can't schedule the redelivery, they have to...and I can't get in touch with them either.... 🙁

Mine as well, I just filled it out and printed it. Drew was hard enough to get in touch with to even SEND the thing, so after all this, I wasn't so concerned with the format 😛

mine is in word format, not pdf. in several of the questions, I went beyond the 600 character limit. maybe 700 at most. i dont think they will be counting the words while reading it. my photograph was also in digital form so it printed with the rest of the form.

I'm sending you a PM about this.

Can anyone who interviewed on Saturday November 14 tell us a little about their experience? It would be very much appreciated.

So I think I read on their website that they have around 1500 applicants. Is that 1500 secondary applicants or primary? I sent in my secondary app last week, I just want to know where I stand.

Has anyone gotten an interview lately and know when the next interview day is?

just got a secondary request. but i see from this thread that there are only 2 more interview dates. isn't it a little late in the game right now? were most of the secondary requests given out last month, or do they still have a lot of primaries to review?

congrats! when were you guys complete or sent your secondary?!

My app was complete sometime in early October. I didn't get a complete email, but the status online told me it would take 4 weeks for review.

i was told that i'll be receiving a letter in the mail within the next week.. i smell rejection coming my wayy 🙁 there goes my love for drew 👎

Did you call?

yea! my status said that a while back but it changed to "no status" and that they will review my file within 4 weeks..
