Drew stats might be mixed in with UCLA stats. So that could be a reason why they are high. However, I'm sure Drew applicants are just as bright or even brighter than UCLA applicants and very much capable of those high stats. I have also heard that Drew isn't that big on numbers but im sure they get some high achiever applicants. 😀
 
So not sure what to make of this...I had pretty much filed Drew under my rejection pile, since I submitted my amcas sometime early July, and never heard a peep...and then I wake up this morning, and there's a pretty secondary application sitting in my inbox. Seriously....this late in the game?? I'm psyched...Drew is the perfect program for me and the opportunity to stay in LA makes me want to dance...but what's up with this? Now I'm wondering what my chances are of getting an interview at this point. I have to read this forum more thoroughly when I'm not about to dash out the door to work...but does anyone know what the chances are of receiving an interview if you recieve a secondary? It seems like they screen pretty heavily for that secondary...but then again this late in the game I'm not betting on anything.

Hey Ms. Taco welcome to the Drew thread. I love ur name. lol If I were you I would mos def turn that secondary in. Based upon last cycles thread thread drew seems to be notoriously slow because they actually go thru each app thoroughly to choose the best candidates for the 24 spots. last year looks like they conducted interview all the way until april...(looked likek once a month from jan-april) also i remember reading someone who interviewed in nov and didn't get an acceptance til june. so i guess the moral of the story is to turn in that secondary and play the waiting game! hope this helps. i wanted to go thru the 2007 thread but im too lazy right now..lol maybe later🙂
 
hey all,

similar to ms taco, i had mentally filed drew under rejected since i hadn't heard back since i submitted in july. got the secondary request yesterday BUT i don't have an attachment on that email. is there somewhere else i'm supposed to go to download it or was it supposed to be send along with the "we are very pleased to offer you a Secondary Application" email?

if it's the latter, can somebody please, please email me a copy of it? i tried to call them today to clarify and their offices are closed until jan 4th. i'm planning to start working on it before that, of course, but i'd like to see what the actual form looks like as well. if someone's willing, let me know and i'll pm you my email addy.

nooow for my next plea for help: does anybody have any advice on how to format the answering of these questions? i know they want bullets and numbering..... but i'm not sure how much detail to go into. any advice would be appreciated 🙂

my advice would be to get into as much detail as you feel comfortable divulging(sp?)

in so far as the format, i think its best to stick with the format they want (numbers/bullets) for me it wasn't easy. so what i did was wrote in normal paragraph form (like every other school wanted lol) then just took the highlights of the paragraph and turned those into bullet points. i think for the most part i stuck with complete sentences but if I was pushing the character limit a may have left out a preposition or two. hope this helps.

I heard that it's going to be on Jan. 15...
But I also heard from someone (don't remember who) that you will receive an e-mail regarding the criminal background check prior to acceptance.. so that you can virtually find out in advance whether you are accepted or not...
 
looking at last cycle's thread it seems as though the first acceptances start rolling in around the 20 something of january. hope that helps

I sent you a PM! Good Luck!!! On a lighter note I received the background check email that someone mentioned earlier on this thread and started freaking out then I remembered that i'd already been accepted to a school that does the background check too so now I'm back to waiting :xf:...

i did and was happy until I read your previous message. i was accepted to another school, and maybe it was them who was requesting the check.

but, it's ODD that we got it on the same day. can you PM me where you were accepted?
 
People on other forums are freaking out about background checks too. Apparently AMCAS is doing them all at once for everyone whose been accepted so far at schools that do the background check. So if you're waiting on decisions/already accepted to any other schools, could also be for those. Either way, it's something to be happy about...you're going to be a doctor! But I do hope for everyone here that it's Drew that's requesting it for you:luck: Drew seems to roll out their decisions pretty slowly (based on my previous forum-stalking), so I wouldn't expect that many people to receive them at this point. So if you haven't received one and you've interviewed, don't lose hope...like PlatinumPenny said, they rolled out acceptances all the way up to June last year. Personally, I'm just busting my butt trying to get this secondary done so I can have a shot at an interview....I'll worry about freaking out about background checks later 🙂

Hello all!! I got a few requests to provide insight on the Drew interview day so I figured instead of replying to all the PM's i'd share with everyone. I have always loved Drew and it is my first choice. Interviewing there just deepened that love. The faculty, staff and students all genuinely cared about making us feel comfortable and like family. I had 2 interviews one with faculty and one with a student. I then did a group interview where they gave us a scenario and we had to strategize and talk it out as a group. The last part was the most unique, where they had us submit a writing sample on a prompt regarding URM in healthcare.

The best piece of advice I can give is to go in to this interview confident and try as hard as you can to relax. I know it's easier said then done but I put so much pressure on myself to do well and to perform that I almost missed out on really experiencing Drew and seeing what they had to offer me. I love this program and would love nothing more to attend here and I'm sure you all feel the same. I'm not sure if I was "successful" and how much you can take my advice being that I haven't been accepted yet, but If we've made it this far we must be have something special 🙂. Has anyone been able to reach Sandy over the past 3 days? I keep getting the answering machine that says they won't be available until January 4th.

I got through by some miracle and she told me that decisions will be going out at the end of the month and it'll be a phone call (acceptance) or a letter(rejection I'm assuming)... Wish I could have gotten an exact date but hey it's better than nothing...I guess 😏

Does anyone know how we send updates to Drew. Last I talked to Sandi, she said we could. But I don't know if we fax it, mail it, etc. And if you guys know, could you please give me the necessary information (address, fax number...). I have tried calling but I can't get in touch with her.

Has anyone gotten an interview invite recently? I believe they have an interview date coming up next Saturday (1/23) and was wondering if anyone had heard anything as of late.

Good question. I was wondering the same, especially since I just turned in my application and this next interview date may actually be the last. Although it seems like last year they did add 2 more dates, up til March or so, people around here have been saying that this is the last one they have planned. If that's true, it seems like we can cry and write Drew off if we don't hear by next Saturday. Would be nice to know. I have been trying to contact Sandy to see if she can shed any light on this. I will update as soon as she gets back to me.

There must be at least one more interview date after 1/23 because Drew couldn't find my LORs back in Dec and told me to upload them by 1/31.

We still have hope!

Did you hear from Sandy? I wonder if people that interview that late (March) have a legitimate shot at an acceptance. Let us know if you heard anything from her.

I agree. If Ms Taco got a secondary invite on 12/23, and in the email they give you a month to turn it in, that would mean she had until the 22nd or so of this month. And the next interview date is on January 23rd? That would be pointless. I say there are more interviews. 👍
 
Hey all,
So this is my first time posting to this thread. I received my secondary on December 9th, submitted it on December 11th, and they received my application on the 14th. I talked to Sandy today and she said that my file is with the admissions committee and I should hear back in 1.5-2 weeks. I asked her about interview dates and she said that there are more coming up even though she didn't specify the exact number. Based on previous cycles, though, I would expect a lot more dates in February, March, and even April since Drew is known for interviewing later in the cycle and making decisions later than most schools. Hope this helps and good luck to all of you!
 
Sandy hasn't gotten back to me yet, but based on the previous posts, I would have to agree that there will be more interviews after this one. Which makes me both happy and frustrated...I almost wanted to just have an answer after this week, even if that answer was no. Then again, I'm happy to at least still have a chance. Aaahhh I suppose I should just resign myself to waiting interminably for this school....

Edit: At least one person on SDN got in last year who interviewed in March (and I heard somewhere that SDN represents about 1/4 of the applicant pool), so it certainly seems we shouldn't give up hope even if we're interviewing late. And Drew doesn't do waitlists...they just make you wait..without the list 🙁. So again, more waiting for us...

Man I am getting so anxious!!! Does anyone know how we'll find out if we got accepted? Should we be expecting a phone call for acceptance and a letter in the mail for rejections? :xf::xf::xf:
 
Here was Sandy's response RE interviews for the rest of the year:

"Yes we will be interviewing on January 23rd, we will also be interviewing in February, March and April. So please do not believe the rumors."

So we can continue to obsess over Drew for the foreseeable future...yay! I'm staring out my window at work waiting for 1.) some love from Drew, and 2.) that tornado that's supposed to hit LA 😱. Sadly the latter seems much more likely 🙁

Look one post up for the answer to the first question.

As for the second question, I just took a look at the website AGAIN and saw that all application materials including secondaries are due by January 31. Since they give you roughly a month to complete secondaries and submit letters, I'm thinking the last set of secondaries were sent out either before they went on winter vacation or as soon as they got back. Then again, can't be too sure since they run interviews all the way into April. :scared: Have you gotten your secondary?

That's funny. They stated at the interviews that they would only hold two more interview days. Oh well, maybe the Dean gave us bad info.
 
Hope to see some of you ppls at the interview tomorrow. I still haven't figured out why theres not many drew students or those interested in drew on sdn.
 
Sure would be nice to hear from Drew. It's my first choice and I interviewed back in october....Sigh this is torture....Anyone else who interviewed last year hear anything yet????
 
interviewed in nov. i haven't heard anything yet.
 
I also interviewed in October and haven't heard anything. Apparently the bulk of their acceptances go out in February and March though... Here's to waiting endlessly!
 
I interviewed today and had a great time. Drew is definitely my number 1 choice. As for people waiting don't worry they haven't accepted anybody yet and won't till Feb at the earliest.
 
Also interviewed yesterday and it was amazing. Love the students and the school. Also it turns out I'm a SDN spokesman.

How'd you become a spokesman? Did they start talking about SDN and your S/N came up?
