Accepted!
According to the email only ~1/7 of the class is full. Anybody know why this is??
They may tell you your place when the interview cycle ends. right now I doubt they would do anything.that is correct. there are 7 rounds of offer - beginning in October and ending in April (1 date each month).
So on each of these dates they fill 1/7 of their class. Since this was the Feb. offer date, as of today they have filled 5/7 of their class. There are two more rounds of offer left - march and april.
each offer date they take a few people off of the alternate list...which is why some people who received a spot on the alternate list in november or decemeber were accepted today.
one thing i don't know is if wayne state sends out post-interivew rejections. i haven't seen anyone post that on the thread...to me it seems like post-interview people are either accepted or placed on the alternate list.
speaking of the alternate list...i remember at my interview them saying that it was ranked (each person is given a score on a 5.0 scale i think)--but I don't know if Wayne State adcom will tell students what their "score" is. (anyone know if they do?)
Canadian accepted. Most likely will be turning it down but there were no time frames on the e-mail as to when to fully accept/turn down an acceptance?
Had a pretty weird interview too, no why wayne state, no why doctor, just asking to clarify my extracurrics.
Alternate listers, know that there'll be one extra spot (most likely!)

The waitlist still has people on it from the first and second decision dates . . . which includes me . . .

Oh can those who got accepted post some stats?
I can't imagine interviewing in the 1st round and waiting this long! I hope you have another acceptance already. I don't even care anymore as well, I'm not someone who is always waiting for crap. I feel like the less I care the fast the time will pass hahaha.
Don't worry guys, we still have 5/15!!!!!!
I was apart of the first round of interviews as well and am currently still on the alternate list. I thought my interview went pretty well too. Whateves. I am pretty much banking on this school to come through for me. If not, there is always next year.
Stats are going to be all over the place. I know people on the waitlist with 32+ MCAT scores and those with sub-30 who were accepted on their first decision date.
Sorry, but I am too lazy to scroll through all of the pages. Has anyone actually been rejected after an interview at Wayne?
Congrats to all those accepted, maybe we'll be classmates soon! For those still waiting, hang in there!!
My question is for anyone that knows either first or second hand, how hard/realistic would it be to become an MI resident during any point in the 4 years? I am stoked about getting in but the money issue is still a little troubling for OOS!
It's just about impossible. I think the only exemptions are if you establish residency in MI (have a job and address here) by living here for a year PRIOR to matriculation...or if you are married to someone who is a MI resident and possibly if your parents move here (not sure on that one though). But if you come here as an OOS student and start medical school right away with no qualifying factors, then it just isn't going to happen.
this pretty much sums it up. I looked into the issue a couple of years ago (before applying) - at the time, I owned a house in MI. however, since I did not live there (the state or the house), I would not have qualified for resident tuition at any MI school. so, the state makes it just about impossible for a non-resident to qualify for in-state tuition, and the process of establishing residency for this purpose cannot be done after the school app process begins. this perhaps explains why Wayne State has so few out of state students... Univ. of Michigan has quite a few, but I believe they offer better $ aid
I don't think it has happened to anyone on SDN, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen at all. According to this flowchart on their website, it definitely looks like a possibility.

Interview tomorrow. Should I be expecting to meet any of you tomorrow?

So you're saying if I find someone in Michigan to marry, I can save 120 THOUSAND dollars?!

Because there are 7 rounds for offers to be made. Did you just make an account so you could tell everyone you got accepted? Mr. 2 post
Anyways no change. If you don't want to go to Wayne get off of the list so the rest of us can have a better shot!
Good luck everyone, see ya next month.
Sounds like somebody is just a little bitter.
soooooooooo can someone re-cap the chances of eventually being accepted off the alternate list? 🙁 🙁
chill out bro, christ. we're all in this together don't be a dick.Read the thread. It has been stated many times that in 2008, 78% of the people who interviewed eventually got accepted. No one knows your chances of eventually being accepted off the alternate list (or mine...) this year. Stop trying to get false sense of hope from people on this thread when all you can do is wait. No one is on the adcom from here and even if they were, I am sure they would not tell you your chances. Why do you think Wayne State doesn't tell you your rank on the waitlist. The process sucks, we all know that. Just wait.
