No change for the second time...

Dec - Waitlisted
Jan - No change
Feb - No change

Mar - No change!

O well, I wasn't feeling as confident this time anyway since Ive been through it a few times (along with many of you on this thread also...). But I do agree with someone above who thinks we have better chances as the dates go by since more and more people are choosing other schools!

Good luck everyone and congrats to everyone who got accepted this round 👍

so the waitlist should be relatively big now, is anyone thinking of asking where they are ranked?

I was just thinking the same thing.

Can you do that? Will they even tell you?

Thank you. Took almost 3 years after undergrad 1000 miles away from my wife and daughter who I only got to see twice a year. 1 B.S and 2 masters degrees later I can finally tuck my daughter in at night and not miss all her birthdays and school recitals. Hang in there guys. If you want it enough, the whole universe will connive to make your dreams a reality.

Waitlisted 🙁

This kinda sucks ... and now we wait another month

Does anyone get rejected post-interview? It's a little daunting how many people seem to be on the waitlist

Waitlisted here as well...hopefully we will see some waitlist movement come May?

Finally accepted! If you include last year I have been on the waitlist at Wayne for almost 9 months!

If you don't mind me asking...what are the stats for all who were accepted?

(P.S. CONGRATS!)

Wow serious congrats. You seriously deserve it! If you mind me asking, what was ur gpa and mcat score? Were u accepted right after the interview or were u accepted off the waitlist?

Gah, waitlisted.

Congrats to all those who got in this round, though!

Whoaaa 😱 nine months?! You definitely have patience!!! 😛 Congrats!

Does anyone know why they postponed the next decision date to May 5? It was supposed to be April 29 . . .

The waitlist letter said that by April 29th, enough offers will be made to fill the class. Maybe a couple of days are needed for certain individuals who want to decline their offers before positions can be made available to waitlisters?

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted today! For the rest of us, we get to wait for 6 weeks (yay?) =)

Hi everyone...I am new to this site. Like many of you I am also on the alternate list. I saw that a few years ago there was a discussion about the difference between waitlist and alternate list. Is there any difference? Someone mentioned the top 5 percent are on the waitlist...or something like that. Other than that does wayne state normally get through a lot of people on the waitlist? ugh what are my chances...it really bums me out

It varies from year to year. For the class entering in 2008, 77% of interviewees were accepted. I'm not sure if that's because people withdrew their acceptances after first taking their spot in the class and hence a bunch of people would have been pulled off the waitlist, or if that 77% was due to people just declining their offer and them just taking another candidate "outright." Since it's such a high number, I would imagine that there was quite a bit of movement that year. However, I heard last year (entering class of 2009) that there weren't many people pulled from the wait list.

Hey, if you get in your username's gonna be obsolete.

Just...observing 😳

I was under the impression that the alternate list WAS the waitlist . . .

For 2009, where did you hear that? Is there data for that?

No, it's completely anecdotal at this point. I heard it from the admissions office that there were fewer people being pulled off the waitlist. But that was just before May 15, so who knows how much movement there was after that.

Ok, THAT I did hear. Usually, most of the movement off of the waitlist comes AFTER May 15. So, as depressed as we all are right now, even if we don't get in on May 5, we're still in the game. It just sucks that we'll to continue to have to wait, I guess . . .

Thanks everyone for the responses. I am a little nervous for May 5 to come around...that is my birthday. It could potentially be a very sad or VERY VERY HAPPY day. I also called the admissions office inquiring about the waitlist. They do not give out ranks...and as many of us assumed it is very long. They told me it was a couple 100 people long. ugh...

January 27 was my birthday . . . unfortunately, it was not as happy as I would have liked.

Here's hoping your birthday is very happy, for you and for the rest of us!

Dang.

I just called the Admissions Office and was told that we do get ranked on the waitlist. And of course, that it is quite a long list.

should've asked them how many people have historically been taken off the waitlist

really? I just talked to someone and she said we did not. That is soooo weird. I also asked about how many people get taken off of the list...the best answer I could get was that it varies.

Hmmm...well she told me that we do not get to know our ranks. Only the admissions committee knows our ranking. I guess we'll have a better idea of waitlist movement come May.

I'm interviewing April 18th. Any idea what my odds are like granted that I'm interviewing so late? I'm also Canadian.

Your odds of getting accepted are the same as anyone else who interviewed earlier in the cycle. Good Luck!!

Just wondering, when did you get your interview invite?

Edit: Isn't April 18th a Sunday?

I got my invite on Feb 16th.

I'm OOS and planning to matriculate. I just found out on Wednesday that I was waitlisted at my state school. I really like Wayne state but it would have saved me a lot of money going in state! Oh well I guess. I'm super excited about moving and attending WSU though. Are you OOS or IS?

I'm going. The price is daunting but I know i will be happy here. I'm waitlisted at my state schools as well and my wife needs to find a job so I'm not going to wait and see.

The waitlist may be several hundred people long, but consider this:

Let's assume that their admissions schedule is roughly the same for each year. I.e., offering 1/7 the class every month.

By the end of the seventh date, enough offers have been made to the entire class. Since their class is ~300 people, you would expect ~300 offers.

However, if you look on previous pages of this thread, not only do they interview more than 300, they also admit more than 300.

This is to compensate for people declining admission offers. In 2008, 754 people were interviewed and 588 were accepted. Many of those must have come from the waitlist, so even if the waitlist is a couple hundred people long, a considerable number of those couple hundred are going to end up being accepted.

Hold tight, people.

I like the way you think =) Does anyone know stats from 2009?
