are we posting interview invites on this page, or is this thread strictly applied/accepted? I received an interview from Western Carolina (clinical track) last night for Feb 16, second round of interviews is March 16 (?).

Let's say interviews, just to be inclusive!

Congrats!

Ummm... based on the edits I see above, it looks like you deserve a big ol' congrats yourself.

In the premed forums, they just keep a continuous discussion thread of who's gotten what and where and when (as much as people are willing to divulge). That might make it easier for you guys to track new developments and provide each other with support. Just a thought. 🙂

Teehee, thanks!

I'm intrigued by the mention of a continuous discussion. What do you mean by that? Reporting by school (for interviews, applications, whatever) or something more general like "Status reports"? I peeked at the pre-med forum but got rather confused. I'm sleep deprived, it happens a lot!

LCakes- The NYU responses will vary unless people are turning them in on-deadline. NYU just kind of processes them as they come in. 4-6 weeks after completion is generally their turnaround. Not that I've gotten mine, so... heh.

Accepted...
University of Pittsburgh- MSW program
University of Michigan- MSW program

Awaiting Response...
University of Cincinnati- Master's in Mental Health Counseling

i applied to 8 clinical psych phd programs and looks like i didn't get an interview at a single one! 🙁 now my plan b is applying to masters programs. so far i've applied to MS MFT programs at Northwestern University and UMass Boston, and M.Ed. Community Counseling at Loyola University Chicago. All submitted w/in the past 2 or less weeks.

The deadline at NU is 3/1, at UMass 2/1, and Loyola 2/15. Can anyone tell me when I should expect to hear back? I knew the timeframe to expect for PhD programs, but I really don't have any idea what to expect here.... and I don't want to drive the admissions people nuts by asking about it, either! Thanks 🙂

good luck everyone! :luck:

...Neither of these programs are as competitive as the ones you've applied to, so I don't know if this info helps you at all. Master's programs don't have to let you know by April 1 like PhD programs do...the waiting is the hardest part!

Ps--has anyone heard from wake forest!?

What is the best place to look at to gauge how competitive programs are? The programs didn't seem to have "full disclosure data" about their admissions the way PhDs do... Is US news a reliable source?

I applied for the MSW program at the University of Utah and the Professional Counseling program (under Ed Psych) at the University of Utah as well. I've HEARD of people already getting rejection letters even months ago, but I haven't heard a THING. I also called them to make sure all of my forms and letters were in and left a message but haven't heard back. I keep checking my school's website to see the status but still says "out to graduate department". I keep dreading I'm gonna get one of the "second cut" rejection letters. And I've been re-reading my personal statement and autobiographical sketch over and over again trying to view it like someone else would. I'm going bonkers here! I really doubt I got into the Ed Psych program because my GRE scores weren't that great (didn't study much), but the MSW program here doesn't require the GRE unless your GPA is under a 3.0 which mine isn't.

So here's hoping! Any other University of Utah applicants?

Congrats on WashU! Are you planning to attend, or holding off for Columbia to make your decision?

I don't know if you can edit old comments or else I would but:

Columbia : Accepted 2/19 (viewable online!)

Thank you! I heard back from Columbia today and was accepted but with no scholarship. I applied to Wash U early decision anyway, so I would have had to go either way. But Wash U is definitely my top pick, especially with the scholarship! I can't believe the deposit for Columbia is twice as much as Wash U's though! 😱

Which M.S. program did you apply to at EMU? I applied to the Clinical-Behavioral Program and was told that all admission decisions would be made by today and that I should call back to find out if I was accepted. I don't know if I feel comfortable with that though...

Do you know if they are going to call? or e-mail? or mail? You mentioned in another post that they said to call later on today...what time? and who are you supposed to call? I applied to the general clinical MS, not the clinical behavioral MS. Did they say anything about different dates for each type of masters? Any information would be really helpful, thanks a lot!

Yep, looked online, nada.

Congrats to you though! (sorry I didn't mention that before. 🙂)

I got accepted into the MSE program in Mental Health Counseling via email today! 🙂

I don't really have any clue. I called them at the beginning of last week to make sure that they had received all of my application materials and the woman I spoke to told me that "all application decisions will be made by 2/20" and that I should call back on that date to find out whether or not I had been accepted. She didn't say whether or not it was just for my program or if it applied to any of the other programs as well.

I just got off the phone with the graduate office and I still don't have any answers. The lady I spoke with this afternoon said that "your application is under review by the department and they will most likely contact you to let you know if you have been accepted." She gave me the name of the program administrator and said that I could call or email her if I had any additional questions.

Hope this has been at least somewhat helpful!

Yeah, I just called to ask her about the General Clinical Masters and she said the decision will be made in a few weeks. Plus I know the program administrator for my program is a man, not a woman. So I guess you'll find out before I find out. I assume they would probably e-mail, maybe call, then maybe like a week after notifying you in either of those ways, send you an official letter. If I'm not mistaken, I saw that the deadline for your program is Jan 15th, although it also says Feb 15th on the same application. So if Jan 15th is right, I assume they'll make a decision on your program first. If its actually Feb 15th, then maybe the decisions will be made at the same time?? I'm just making assumptions here, I really want to know as soon as possible because IF I get in, I'm going to have to decide between the masters program and a partially funded PHD program (if I get in).

I actually interviewed for the PhD program at EMU and got rejected so I don't know if that helps or hurts me. I guess it depends on why they rejected me...either I didn't make the cut in terms of competition or there was some negative reason, which would NOT help and probably hurt for gaining admission to the Masters program. oh well, we'll see what happens. If I hear anything, I'll be sure to let you know and/or make a post in this thread. Good luck and thanks for the info!

Just got a 'Save the Date' for the CSULB open house on April 25th. I doubt it means anything other than I applied to the program but it's something at least!

I got an invite to American's Graduate studies open house on 3/20 and called to ask whether this was an invitation for all applicants or a subset of applicants. The lady said the invitation was for everyone and that the psyc MA program doesn't do invites and that decisions should be made first week of april. fyi 🙂

Yeah, I'm not really thinking too much into it but I found it kind of strange because the school sent me an e-mail a few weeks ago saying that all decisions would be made before March 25th and applicants would be notified the following week. The open house is April 25th. Why would they invite people to come to an open house if they didn't get accepted?

Again, not that big of a deal I just thought it was odd.

MA clinical psychology at Roosevelt University.

Not exactly news at this point though. I believe I was notified nearly three months ago, around the first week of december. I guess i am just a bit late to this thread.

Hello! I have applied to the M.A. in psychology program at Columbia and am waiting for a reply within the week. I was wondering what previous experience you had - I'm trying to see how good my chances are, I'm getting super nervous! Thanks 🙂

Oops that was my first post and I'm still trying to figure this out!
I wanted to reply to this post:

Thanks, but I didn't get in yet! This was my previous post and I had a question for you:

I was accepted into Columbia's MSW online today. Any of the other acceptees on this board thinking of attending there?

LCakes - I applied to Wake Forest MA also and haven't heard anything yet. Will post if I do. I also applied to American MA but didn't get the invite you & waytogreen did...hmm.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in to their desired programs, and good luck to the rest of us who are still waiting this out!

btw, are you guys posting results to Grad Cafe? I've noticed a lack of updates there from masters degree applicants. I was very slow to find this forum, but I'm glad I did!

is there an MSW forum there? I couldn't find one

There is a social work forum under "Professional Programs" on grad cafe (though it doesn't seem to have the same amount of activity as this site) and you can also update your admits/interviews/dings in the "Results" area, FYI.

Hi, I'm a current Wake Forest M.A. student. As far as I know, no admissions decisions have been made as of yet. I am not really in the loop on this process, but I thought I should at least update with something to ease your anxiety. Also, I initially was wait-listed, and I found out that decision two years ago via snail mail in mid-March. So don't start worrying just yet. 😎

Good luck! :luck:

Congrats you guys on your acceptances and good luck on your waiting responses 🙂

Stephy :luck:

And Jack! Your post got all lost in the shuffle of posts! Many congrats! Planning to go?
