Thanks! I've been very fortunate... just hoping for NYU at this point... anyway, hope everything turns out well for you, too. Good luck getting into Drexel!

Hey, anybody know what the situation is in terms of interview invites at Drexel? Im an OOS been complete since late Sept. and no word. They haven't responded to calls or emails. Kinda feel left for dead at this point. :scared:

Hey! Have you checked your status page?

I've been complete since mid October and I'm currently on pre-interview hold. They do take a long time to respond to emails, but calling them is typically effective.
 
Has everyone who received notification of a "final decision" after January 1st receive notification of a background check? If yes, when did you receive the notification for the background check?

I got a final decision and acceptance 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive the background check notice. How soon are we supposed to get it? I hope I didn't delete it!
 
I don't know when people receive it, just checked last years thread and those who got "final decision" got notified of the background check, so I was wondering when that happens. Some people did say it was weeks later. I just wanted to know if people who were accepted got the notification of background check as soon as their status changed to "final decision" if they got an acceptance, or whether no background check notification means rejection.

There's actually no rhyme or reason as to when it happens.... someone in their office just pushes a button to request it through AMCAS; and it only signifies either wait-list or acceptance. If you've been accepted a while ago and haven't received the notification, then it means that means someone dropped the ball, and you probably need to check on this with the admissions staff.
 
My question is, if I haven't received any notification from AMCAS regarding a background check immediately after my status changed to "final decision" is it likely a rejection? Do most people hear immediately or within a day or two after their status changes to final decision?
 
interviewed mid-Dec and still got the 6-8 weeks decision message up on my status page, guess i'm at the bottom of the pile.

No Mandy, it doesn't mean a rejection (and like someone posted earlier, they received acceptance 2wks back and still don't have, probably add another week post decision made to get that letter)...because some schools will request ur background check right away after acceptance while some wait - seems that Drexel waits - how long? no one can tell you, since it depends on when they push that button. So you just have to sit tight and wait for that decision to be revealed to you.
 
Interviewed 1/3 my status has been "... with admissions committee" for the last week or so.....:xf:

A pre-interview hold is when they "put your application on hold for re-review at a later date". Basically, they haven't determined that you are out of the question, but they aren't quite ready to extend an interview invitation. Don't know about how long they are conducting interviews, but it is probably ending in March or April. I'd check out their website.
 
Got the final decision message today. I live 20 minutes from the campus. I wonder when it will get here. I'm interested to know what they say.
 
Interviewed 12/7 been 'with ad com' since 1/14... still no decision status, ::sigh::
 
Just got accepted (my parents opened the letter, so no idea if the "big envelope" or "small envelope" theory holds)! I feel so much better now, first and only interview thus far and got in!

Complete: Late August
Interview Invite: Sometime in October
Interview Date: Early December
"With Admissions Committee" Status: Late January
Final Decision Status: 2/4/2011
Letter Received: 2/11/2011

Hey Mandy,

Thought I'd tell you how that whole background check thing happened in my case. Drexel received my $100 deposit to hold my position in the class on 12/28/2010. On 1/25/2011, I received the e-mail about the Certiphi background check procedure and completed it within the week.

Thanks so much for responding regarding the background checks. I did know that those of you who received an acceptance prior to January 1st would not have received the background check notification until after January 1st.
But I was wondering if those people that have been accepted in mid to late January or recently in February received anything when their status changed on the computer. My status changed on Wednesday to "final decision" but I did not receive notification of a background check, so I'm just getting upset that a rejection may be coming.

Nope; I did not get a background check e-mail. Hope this helps assuage some of the jitters!

Looks like we've had a slew of acceptances! To those just accepted, will you be keeping them or have you already been accepted to other schools you prefer?
 
I was watching the latest episode of It's always sunny in Philadelphia in which Dee gave birth when I was pleasantly surprised to see several shots of Hahnmann University Hospital. The building looks pretty nice. I never got to see the hospital on my interview day.

Did anyone else get a status change to final decision last Wednesday. I got the under review by admission committee on Monday and it changed to a final decision on Wednesday. I thought the adcom met on Thursdays. Any insight?

You have probably mentioned somewhere your interview date but I'm too lazy to scroll through the entire thread🙂 When did you interview Mandy? I interviewed early Jan and my file is still with an adcom member.

I just checked my status today and it says invited for interview. I never got an email and have no idea how long this status has been there.. lol. Did this happen with anyone else?

This happens to everyone. I only found out about my interview because I happened to check my status. I got the official email invite about 2-3 weeks after I scheduled my interview.
 
I actually DID get an email notification. It was a month after I saw the status change on the website and scheduled the interview. Out of curiosity I looked up the interview times when I got the email, and it was booked up until about 6 weeks after I had scheduled. Yikes.

I don't think that's entirely true, I got an email for my interview invite (granted it was a day after the status change and I had already booked the interview), so yes, agreed with gujuDoc it's still a better bet to check your status page for those still waiting, but you should get a direct notification of some kind as well eventually. Good luck with your interview!
