if we're basing it on last years turn of events it looks like acceptences were mailed out, then came WL / rejections and it was in varying waves. though they didn't send emails for second look weekend first like they did this year. It's possible they tried to streamline things and just sent out acceptence packets and second look invites in one wave and that's that. I really hope not but at this point, that's my assumption. There's still hope for WL and getting accepted off that (I found at least 1 person last year who that happened to. Got accepted off the wl mid may)

We'll know more tomorrow sadly one way or another.

Unless if theres less applicants who use sdn/want to share on sdn this year than last, I think they may still have another wave of acceptances to send tomorrow (or i'd like to hope so). I mean not that many people have responded with acceptances right? I'll keep hope alive and keep my fingers crossed, and hope they send out either my acceptance or my WL/rejection tomorrow. Im a reapplicant and got rejected last year so as much as I would love duke, I know that being rejected is not the end of the world. However hope keeps me going, so we'll see. I just hope and pray that whatever decision it i, they send it tomorrow cos this wait is getting ridiculous 🙁

Hey all, just my 5 cents here for all of you who haven't heard back yet (me included). My thoughts on the matter is that there is no way to conclusively prove that all the acceptances have been sent out already. However, there IS evidence based on the trend that they have not all been sent out yet (from last year, where they were sent out in waves). Thus, there is no point in worrying if you haven't heard back yet, because if anything, evidence favors the fact that they will send more. Either way, it's not worth worrying about, I'm going to boot up minecraft and eat some watermelon. Peace.

After reading your post, I couldn't help but go ahead an create an account. Your 5 cents were pretty great...I haven't heard back yet either and am trying to find some reason to stay hopeful...

Accepted! 😍

For those wondering, the time stamp was 12:30PM PST

can any current medical students comment on the grading at duke for all 4 years?

Got an acceptance email today and hope my info can help people who are nervous.

I was invited to interview in October and opted for a Virtual Interview. I did not have my interview until early February.

Good luck to everyone, take that stress and do something good for yourself with it. Take a walk, get a massage, whatever you need!

Oh and someone mentioned that the 2nd "sorry for the typo" email freaked them out. I nearly had a heart attack. Just last night I was talking with a friend planning on going to Texas A&M, which over-accepted their class by 70 and are currently in a HUGE fiasco to try and fix.

So far about 17 people have posted acceptances (all got emails, 1 got a phone call, 2 received the packages) on here from all over the country, and various last names. I think its safe to say that all acceptance emails went out today (obviously, not all of those accepted are on SDN or will post their acceptance on SDN but 17/180 is a good number i think?).

Anyway, still holding out some glimmer of hope, but dreams are quickly fading.....

I hate to say it, but I think you're right. Yale is another thread I've been following (and another e-mail I did not receive, sadly). Yale has emailed all of their acceptances out, and essentially the same number of SDNers have reported acceptances. Here's hoping that Duke has notified only half of all the accepted, and that you guys and gals that have posted about your acceptance are just more passionate than the people over in the Yale thread!

Anyways, the wait continues, and it's not over yet! I met a ton of students during the interview day who got in off of the waitlist. Maybe that acceptance will feel that much sweeter after waiting an additional few weeks for it!

I got 14/15 when I counted 😛.

Assuming they accepted 180ish, that's 8%. I like to think there are more than 8% of med students on SDN, especially considering the crowd this place attract (aka SDN attracts those who are more likely to get accepted to Duke). And if last year is anything to judge by (which it probably isn't), there were like 30 people who got accepted. In fact. I'll edit when I finish counting.
Just finished counting and I was off by 2 😛 well within the margin of error I'd say. That being said, last year's thread was much busier than ours so who knows...

That being said, the logical part of my brain is telling me "Hey, it ain't over till the fat lady sings" For the past 3 years, there have been waves. Why would this year be different?

But then there's the emotional part of me that's sitting here going "okay, is it a waitlist or an acceptence? I don't know if I can do this whole process again in another 4 months..."

Sigh

same here....i thought the stress would end this week, but I guess not...

All first year pre-clerkship classes are Pass/Fail.

Most second year clerkship classes are Honors/High Pass/Pass/Fail. (Family med also has a low-pass).

Third year is research year.

Fourth year is like 2nd year.

Second-year grading is capricious and arbitrary, predominantly will be based upon a luck/'nice' chief resident, who does your grading. However, Honors in a 2nd year class will require a very good shelf score, which is very hard to do.

I wouldn't worry about grades, but definitely strive for HighPass+ during 2nd year. However, focus on a good Step1 score and a first-author publication during your 3rd year project.

But were those waves of acceptances via snail mail or email? It seems like they did things a bit differently this year....

And how far apart were those waves, if anyone knows. Mrrrr, I cant stop thinking about this! Duke is the perfect school for me 🙁

Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm also in the "future unknown" category. I called the office today to try and find out when we might hear back, and heard that there were still a few final decisions that had not been made. Duke was a big reach for me so I'm hoping for a waitlist at this point and a fair amount of movement... Good luck all!

Also one of the anxious waiters over here...but I've come to accept the fact that if it's meant to be, it'll happen.

Que sera sera.. 🙂

Ditto. It literally has everything I'd want in a medical school except being in NC. 😛

Last year, the letters went out and then like the next day emails went out for wl / rejections. THen second look invites. A few people got second look invites before letters but not the majority.

I guess we'll just see.

I'd like to mention that this morning I got an email from the [DukeMed] email server and started freaking out.....

.....until I realized that the email was a 'Thanks for interviewing! Take our survey!' email.

CRUEL. WHO DOES THAT on the day that acceptances are being emailed out?!?!?!

Not to mention that I had my virtual interview 2 months ago... of all days to send that!

So who's going to volunteer to call in the morning and see if those not sent emails should expect a WL / Rejection email?

Guys, I know it's hard not to freak out when you feel like your future's on the line, but try to chill. You've waited this long; another hour, day, or even week won't kill you 🙂

For the record -- no news here either. I expect it'll be a WL or reject, but welp, at least I had some really great conversations during the interview, both with 'viewers and fellow 'viewees 🙂 Plus I drove around the surrounding countryside and saw farmland the likes of which I thought only existed in calendars *LOL*

And rejected. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted!

rejected as well. good luck to everyone still waiting and congrats to those accepted!

Waitlisted...again. I suppose I should be grateful for still having a shot at this point.

Also rejected. At least the waiting is finally over.

Waitlisted. Good luck to everyone still waiting! :xf: for some movement in May.

WL over here. I am actually surprised...my hopes were up for an acceptance, but I will take a WL no ifs, ands or buts about it! :xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf:

Also placed on the wait list . . . oh well

Rejected... my first interview was sooo terrible so i saw this coming. I wasn't going to come here anyway.

hey guys, created this account to protect my identity.

But I wanted to ask... has anyone who graduated from duke or is currently a duke student been rejected? It's almost an accepted fact (though not confirmed explicitly by the duke adcom) that duke grads automatically get interviews...

I thought i did TERRIBLE on my interview, yet was still waitlisted... just wondering if this is another one of those "benefits" that duke grads are getting

Wait, I have yet not gotten any email about WL, rejection or acceptance...Are the WL/rejection notices by email or DUKE med PAS site? I forgot my login for that thing.

rejected... 🙁

Honestly, though I almost feel better now, just because the wait is finally over. Not like the result was terribly unexpected...

Although I'm not looking forward to starting this whole process over in just a couple months...

Also on wait list. Do you guys think we will start hearing about movement in late May (with some time for them to meet and discuss us) or soon after the May 15 deadline?

Waitlisted. Does anyone know if it is a ranked waitlist? Or is it a waitlist "pool" where you have to demonstrate your interest (like Columbia) to get in off of the waitlist?

I have no email... no packet... no change in status. confused.

AHH!! I have no email still. Maybe that's a good thing...?

Just called Office of Admissions. As said earlier "decisions are still being made." So, this seems like it must be true if some have yet to receive either email. So if you haven't heard back yet, retain some sliver of hope!

So, those of you who havent gotten an email yet, did you guys send your rec letters after the interview? Mine was sent 2 wks after my interview. I am just thinking if maybe this could have affected my application somehow?? (Im starting to get paranoid) haha

No news here either, guess it looks like news will be sent in waves. Best of luck to all of us :xf:

I had a VE in February. (Invited early January). 3 of my 4 were sent mid January, and the last one didn't arrive until ~a few days after my interview date.

If you haven't heard back yet, I think it's because you're still under discussion for being accepted.

Same here...nothing either way, and I'm only 2 hours from Duke. This is insane!

rejected. Ah well! Congratulations to all who were accepted!

Anybody heard of the type of hair loss that's stress induced and happens a few months after the stressful incident?

I'm figuring that next year, wherever I am, I'll wake up bald one morning.
