Goober 11 - My interview was November 3rd and I received an email stating that I could call to get my decision. I will get a letter in the mail with all the details later.
Cmaster good luck on your interview tomorrow and I'll see on Thursday for the GW interview!!!

Secondary received email on sept 12th
Undergrad committee letter received oct 12th

Pretty much screwed over by the late letter from my undergrad bc it arrived later than I had planned😡. What about you? What was your timeline?

i submitted amcas around sept 20 and was verified by oct 7. got my complete email on Nov 9th. and now just waiting. yea sorry to hear about your committee letter. It just disappointing to hear others slacking off or delayin your apps. I actually had my amcas all ready by aug. I dont know why i waiting till sept to submit. I thnk its bc of my PS...bc no matter what you never thnk its good ENOUGH! 😛

I'm glad to hear you did swell (So well) 😀. Who interviewed you Cmaster? Were all the interviewers faculty? Or were there medical students too? 🙂
 
Interviewed today and LOVED it. I felt like a local taking public transportation and walking around the city, it was kind of an adventure to me🙂. Loved Howard and the mission they stand for and their strong presence in the community. Don't believe the negative things you read online about HU. The clinical sim center is brand new and huge and so is the library, there is plenty of study space and the gross lab is clean and has windows (which is refreshing). You can definately tell that everyone at Howard (down to the security guard) is genuinely happy to be there. They have sooo many world-renounded faculty who could be anywhere but choose to stay at Howard. Would love to be a part of this school and mission. Going to start looking/applying for scholarships incase I get good news come jan/feb:xf:

Just felt like dropping by and see how everyone is doing! Hopefully we ALL get accepted to Howard ...so then we can all be classmates. Seems like we'd have a pretty supportive first year class!

Hey guys, I have been lurking on this thread for ages and am FREAKING OUT.... I just read the bit about the odds a non-URM faces... Somebody say it isn't so!!!! NOOOOO!

I am a white female non-trad, email of verified completion 9/30 and haven't heard a peep! My stats are a little bit higher than the average admitted stats..... *sniffle* but are my chances non-existant?! Please love me, Howard!!!!!

Hey epsilonprodigy,
Being a white female won't hurt you. Howard University College of Medicine has had white students since the first day that they opened. What matters more is that you expressed in your application that you want to work in underserved communities and that you have the experience to back it up.
 
Oooh, I hope you're right. I work at Children's, RIGHT across the street from Howard! (I'm an ER nurse.) I talked a lot in my secondary about how working in that community has made me want to do sickle cell research because so many of our kids have it, and how I'd like to do more to be an advocate for the Ethiopian community in DC since I have worked there too, and am learning Amharic. I am gonna CRY if I don't get an interview. I just got an email today, essentially saying that they've done a lot of interviews but are pretty much going on hiatus for the holidays. GAH!

I was interviewed by Dr. Callender and all the interviews are conducted by staff and faulty... They have med students on the admissions committee but none of them conduct interviews....

Hi Everyone, I've been reading this thread for a while so I thought I'd say hello. Congrats to everyone who has received an acceptance or an interview!! I'm praying that I receive an interview soon. I absolutely love Howard and I've volunteered and shadowed at the hospital. Hopefully I get some good news soon!!🙂

Received my financial aid packet from Howard today!! It is starting to feel more real....😀
 
Hello all, congrats to everyone who has been accepted or is interviewing. My app was complete in Sept and haven't heard anything. Yeah, that last email that was sent out has me a bit on edge (At least half of the interviews are complete) but I'm keeping the faith. Howard is my number one!

Hi faithnchrist! I dropped off my secondary second week of September . However my committee letter was turned in on Oct 12 so that dragged my application down 🙁

Did u get confirmation that your LOI was received?? I sent one a yesterday and was just wondering if I should be looking for an email saying that they got it.

I did get the "secondary received" email on Sept 12th. The e-mail did state that if the letters or rec were not in, I should just assume that Howard would get them as soon as AMCAS did. So AMCAS got the committee letter on the 12th of October and I just assumed Howard got it the same day. However, I did talk to Ms. Walk shortly after that and was reassured that my app was complete...

that's a nice gift! i still haven't gotten mine-apparently they tried to send it before but to the wrong address. i know they got it right this time because i got in contact with ms. walk (she got me for being so antsy:laugh:) AND ms jones. maybe next week?:shrug:
 
I have an interview coming up in January, does anyone else?... What hotel did most people stay in? I'm trying to get one that's close to the campus... How does parking work as well??? (Im country, from NC, obviously)

Two days ago, I dreamt that Ms. Walk handed me an interview invitation and I almost died of happiness.... until I woke up and realized I was dreaming 🙁.

Will be staying at one of the hotels Ms. Walk recommended. Check the confirmed interview email she sent you, she gave a list of hotels that are near Howard 🙂, good luck! See you soooon!😀

I interviewed back in November and stayed at the Bloomingdale Inn the night before my interview. I really liked it because it was about a 10 minute walk to Howard and the owners cooked me breakfast in the morning. Also, they allowed me to leave my bag at the inn during interview day, so I would not have to worry about carrying it around all day. I didn't drive during my trip to D.C., so I can't give you much input on the parking situation. I hope this helps and good luck on your interview!!

KlassikMD, i'm thinking of staying at the Bloomingdale Inn too. Did you walk to Howard from the Inn? How was the walking distance? What time do you suggest I should leave the Inn for the interview? Sorry, so many questions 🙂 Thanks a bunch!
