2010-2011 Howard Application Thread

Hey Guys! Im going crazy over here. I have yet to hear from Howard post interview but got my OOC e-mail a few weeks back. Many people heard on friday but no news here This morning I got an e-mail for criminal background check. Do only accepted students get this or waitlisted students as well? Im trying to figure out where I may stand. Hope for good news soon!

Hey, OhKay! I don't want to put your hopes up or anything but I have a good feeling about this. CBCs are normally done on accepted students as far as I know. How about you call the admissions office and ask what the latest is on your file? I'll keep you in my prayers! Good Luck!!!

Yep! Put "Interviewed Student" in the title for emphasis! They will respond faster

And keep calling... you never know, you might get through!

I agree, if they are doing CBCs on you, perhaps you have already been accepted but lets keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best... Guess email and call might get the answers you need... all the best

My interview was pretty good. I just wished I had more time to talk. Ms. Walk said that the PARP program is filled up now and there are only 3 types of responses you can get now:
1. acceptance
2. rejection
3. alternate list

I think she said that they are still interviewing people...i may have heard wrong, but I thought she said that they were still gonna try and interview a few people...it was after lunch and I had food coma.

Dont give up on Howard!!! Try not to give up until they actually send you a letter stating that theyre done interviewing.

it was pretty awesome, interacting with people there. students were chill, and surprisingly faculty and administration was real chill too.

any advice you guys have? about how long did it take to hear back?

i realllllly wanna get in lol

this Howard Medical School forum always keeps my spirits up. i'm excited yet worried about applying. my stats are not that great. a good upward trend but not a great competitive GPA

Update- there is a class she must attend to gain acceptance but it starts the week she graduates from her masters program. Anyone know about this class?

only a few current first year students are administrators now bcuz Ms Walk said that only accepted students can be added. Since we have no way of find out who was accepted. we lost our admin status

Hi, balder! Just wanted to say, you'll never know unless you try. As long as you have a background and passion for serving disadvantaged communities, you should give HUCM a shot. Of course, grades matter but if you have shown significant improvement and a consistent upward trend, I feel like you are making a statement that you are persistent and determined. If grades are not too hot, consider post bac or a special masters program. Applying to med school is very demanding and you really want to go through the process just once. Therefore, make sure you are presenting yourself at your best. Hope this was helpful. PM me if you need any more info and I'll try my best to answer your qs. Good luck, balder!
