I just woke up, and the first thing I did was check my email on my phone. Then I thought about it logically and realized none of the schools I applied to would have sent me an email last night, they were all closed! haha

Did anyone know that the program has been suspended, both MA and PhD this year? I actually applied for the PhD program, and called the school today to check my application status. They told me that they are not accepting any students this year and the program will be changed. However, in the invitation list, it looks like someone has an interview invitation from U of Maryland. Is it not from College Park? I should definitely have checked about the program before applying. My bad.

I remember reading the invite you've mentioned but if I remember correctly, this was UMBC (Baltimore County) - if you are familiar with that...

It does look like there was an update last night for an interview invitation to the University of Maryland, Counseling PhD. That must be College Park?? If I'm not mistaken, UMBC does not have a counseling PhD program. And I don't think UMBC has sent out clinical invites yet.. 😕

I'm feeling pretty discouraged.. most of my schools are up on gradcafe at this point, but I've only heard something from one school (phone interview, and haven't heard back three days later, so it looks like I screwed up somehow).

Is there a "What did I do wrong?" thread anywhere? 😕

Is it worth calling all my schools and seeing what their status is?

That's strange. 😕 I definitely got an e-mail from UMCP last week with the same information that was posted here (phone interviews after the 27th, in-person interview on the 18th). It wasn't an invitation, though, just a message saying my application had been reviewed positively and information about the timeline. I was also under the impression that they only offered a PhD program.

Tomorrow is the last day of this week, I think I will only hold my hope up for A&M and Ohio until tomorrow, unless some of you have already known that they have sent out all invitations. In that case, please do let me know.

My cell phone is exceptionally quiet. And my email account and mailbox are soooooo empty.

not in an insensitive way, but i have to laugh about this. my whole thought process this week has been---if i dont get the e-mail by friday, i assume i'm out and give up hope. and here's friday. no e-mail.

I just received an email invite for UNT's Clinical PhD program to interview on one of two days: 2/18 or 2/21. The invite was emailed by the Director of Clinical Training, not my POI.

i have no way of knowing, but it really seems like the POIs there are going at very different paces. PM me your POI and I can tell you if I've heard anything about it?

That is terrible! I hope they're refunding your application fee (and cost of sending GRE scores and transcripts).

Their first interview day is less than two weeks away and I'm slowly going insane. 😱 My spidey sense tells me that they'll send out the invites today (but that's mostly because I don't think I could survive the weekend not knowing!).

You can, and will, survive! But I know where you are coming from. I've received an invite from my top school, which I am ecstatic about, but I'm also realistic about my chances and realize that unless I get a couple more interviews, my chances are slim. I am hoping to hear from one or two schools today!

Still waiting to hear back from them too. Here's the email I dug up that was sent to me after I completed the app (re:Counseling Psy)...
"Now that your application is complete, the faculty will start carefully evaluating each application. Following a careful review of the applications, approximately 30 of the applicants will be invited for a half-day on-campus interview in early February 2011. The purpose of the interview is for us to meet prospective students in person in order to determine - for us as well as for them - whether Fordham is the best place for the next phase of their professional training as counseling psychologists.

Because of the large number of applications we receive every year, regrettably we can only invite a small group of applicants for an on-campus interview. All applicants invited for the interview will be notified via email in late January, 2011, by a program faculty representative, not the Admissions Office, and more detailed information about the interviews will be provided in the invitation email message as well."

Late January.... I'd say right now its about mid January, almost late - but more likely next week.

I thought someone asked about the Ph.D. Counseling Psychology program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. FYI, just got a mass email invite from Dr. Mallinckrodt, Program Director. 26 of 135 applicants have been invited for "UT Preview," scheduled for February 20-21 (this includes 1:1 interviews with POI's). From the email, it would appear that they are going to admit five students.

Hey, I asked the program coordinator at Suffolk about invites a week ago... she responded:

"Invites will be sent out by 2/1/11."

Which also matches the e-mail I got last month:
Thank you for submitting your application to the Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology at Suffolk University. The Psychology Department has now received your application materials which are under review. Invitations for interview weekend will be sent via email by February 1st, 2011.

Perhaps that lucky person got the email invite early.
