2010-2011 PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can anyone that's ever received an invite from any school anywhere send me a PM about all of their invites?

Geez, come on people. Just be thankful that we have info about when invites go out and the interview dates. You're only creating anxiety for yourself by obsessing. Relax 🙂 Be glad you're not having to do anything active like filling out tons of applications and calculating specific GPAs over and over.

That seems a bit harsh. This is emotional for everyone, have some compassion. If you find it annoying you could just read the updates on the list and not read the posts. I've had plenty of people ask me for POIs, and I've asked plenty of people too. Personally I think its good karma to help. I think we are all trying to manage this insane amount of stress the best we can. Have a good weekend, people.

Agreed. If you find it annoying why are you on this thread??

I'm confused by the posting about SUNY/Albany. Is it possible this is another false posting? This comes straight from the department website: "Our interview day, a full-day event, usually falls on the first or second Saturday in March. The interview day affords applicants the opportunity to meet with the Clinical faculty and graduate students, and to tour our facilities. We typically invite between 30 – 40 applicants."

Last year, invites didn't go out until well into February, as well.

Sometimes POIs and stuff send out early invites to make sure you set aside the time if they are really really interested in you. I've heard stories about ppl interviewing as early as December even though the official interview isn't till Feb

Just saw this on the University of Houston website:

Fall 2010 admission interviews scheduled
January 21, 2010

Interviews for admissions to the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology for Fall 2010 will be held the evening of Friday, Feb. 26 and all day Saturday, Feb. 27. Invitations to participate in the interview process will be made in early February.

Tried to resist doing this, but I find my resolve has gone...could the poster with the interview invite at Clark please PM me with their POI? I would really appreciate it. Congrats on the invite!

Shouldn't this say 2011?

Lol yeah I was about to post the same thing... I think she meant that assuming they stick with the same schedule this year we can expect to hear something around the start of February and the interview dates to be the 25th and 26th.

Shouldn't this say 2011?

Is anybody else going to Widener's interview on Wednesday? It is supposed to snow, and the school did schedule a snow day. I am not sure how much it is going to snow and when they will notify people if the interview is canceled. I hate the winter...I already made my travel plans :/

I talked to my POI about two weeks ago on the phone, as a pre-invite interview thing. I haven't heard anything back, despite that she said she would hopefully have her list by the end of that week. I sent a thank you e-mail already last week. Would it be overwhelming to send her an e-mail asking if she has sent out her invites already? Or should I assume I wasn't chosen? Don't know if I would receive an e-mail either way.

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has heard from the University of kansas.
Thank You.

I definitely would not do this... you already expressed your interest and have sent her a follow-up email (your thank you note) and the ball is now in her court. By contacting her, you may make yourself seem needy or simply a nuisance. In the end if you never receive a courtesy reply from her, then maybe not the best advisor to have? Good luck!

I received a phone call on Jan 13 inviting me to interview at Drexel on Feb 21. I called the woman back the next day saying that I would love to come for the interview and I still haven't heard back. I called again this past Thursday, a week after getting the first call and again got no response.
Has anyone else gotten a phone call about an interview at Drexel and then heard nothing? Should I be concerned, or contact somebody else at Drexel about it?
I know that they must be dealing with lots of administrative tasks and the interview is several weeks away, and I don't want to be bothersome, but I also want to make sure that they know I want to come.
Any suggestions??

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Has anybody heard from the clinical PhD program at Northwestern in the Weinberg College (on the Evanston campus)?

If so, do you know the interview date(s)?

Thanks!!

Has anyone heard from Pepperdine, Hofstra, or USF? I have noticed that none of these have been mentioned.
Also, have there been any acceptances at PCOM clinical psyD program?

Waiting patiently...

Both are on gradcafe, but neither are here. Has anyone heard anything from these two schools??
:scared:

I can ditto that invites for Suny Albany already went out-at least I received one on the 21st also-and I wasn't the one who updated the list. The interview is on Feb. 12th and I was notified by my POI. Hope this helps...

I also applied to Hofstra PhD clinical, haven't heard yet.

Can anyone confirm or deny if my POI sent out invites for Albany? (in PM obviously 😀) Albany is one of my top choices!

I'd suggest letting it sit. On the list of faculty priorities, this is pretty low ya know. It may work against you to pester your POI. If she was legitimately concerned she would have followed up. What I would suggest is calling/emailing the program administrator and just verifying your attendance.

My POI at harvard said on the 19th that he "will be" vetting applications, so I don't think all invites have gone out. Maybe one of the profs decided earlier than others; I'm not sure whether individual faculty make their own decisions or whether it is a group decision made at once. Either way, we can reasonably expect that this coming week is the last chance to get an invite :scared:

thanks to everyone who commented/advised me on the uconn thing. i wasn't going to go... but now i think i will. YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT. 👍

buuuut i'm pissed about fordham, goddamnit!! but congrats to everyone who got invites 🙂 you must be stoked!!

anyone know about waitlists? i mean, should you assume that if a school has sent out its invites and you haven't received one, you're rejected? that's kind of been my assumption this entire time... but i haven't received any flat-out rejections yet... just a lot of silence...😱😕

This happened to my friend. That means that your POI picked someone else, but if they reject the invite (for admission), then you're in. At least that's what happened to my friend. It worked out for her, she got in! 👍

Howdy everybody, I just wanted to mention that I got an email late on Friday from my POI at Indiana University (Clinical PhD program). He said they have just started evaluating applications. So possibly expect to hear from them soon! :xf:

Happy Monday everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has heard from DePaul or Loyola-Chicago yet? Looks like we should be hearing pretty soon, according to last year's thread. Good luck to everyone, hopefully its a busy week for invites!

Just got an email this morning from Penn State's school psych Ph.D. program. Interviews on Feb. 4th! 😀

Oh thanks! I've been waiting on them too! Did you email your POI asking or did they just contact you?

Has anyone heard from uc Denver clinical health program?

Also, looking for opinions on this program. What are some thoughts about entering a program that is too new to have received accreditation?

Proceed with caution when it comes to a program that is not accredited. You have to do a little bit more investigative work than would be normally expected. Go to the website, look at the faculty and their publications. Find out about the DCT, what does his/her CV look like? Read the mission and model of the program very carefully. What is current and future funding status of the program? There are some really solid university-based programs that have been started within the last few years that just needed to get a few classes through to graduation before easily receiving accreditation. If you do enough work beforehand, you can get a good sense if this school is a reasonable bet for accreditation.

Waiting to hear from DePaul too. Haven't heard anything yet, but I think the interviews for the Clinical-Child program are 2/18 and the Clinical-Community program are 2/21. Good luck!

Thanks UhOh, good luck to you too!

I am apparently a spaz, so I contacted the department about when invites would be extended. The reply was:

By mid week all applicants will be informed of their status.

Thanks for being a spaz! 😉 That's good info to know! Talk about stress (luckily it won't last for too long). I hope they invite both of us!

For those of you who have received and interview invite from Fordham or Washington State, would you kindly PM me your POI?

Also, has anyone heard from the University of Cincinnati or Wayne State?

Thanks and Congratulations!

Does anyone know the interview dates for:
Alabama, Xavier, UVA school and clinical phd, Binghamton, or Chatham University? I haven't heard from these schools but would like a heads up from those who have so I can mark my schedule in case I do get an invite!

wayne state told me they lost 2 of my 3 recommendations 👎

Anyone going to Oklahoma State's Counseling interview? Would appreciate a PM, I have a question.

Hi,
I applied to the UC Denver program. It looks like a really good program even though they are awaiting accreditation. Have you heard from them? They said they wouldn't be sending invites until early February.

I just touched base with University of Cincinnati and they said they are way behind and prolly won't be sending out invites for another week or two.

Hi,
this is my second time applying for the clinical phd program and I'm slowly getting depressed. Three of my schools out of 12 have now appeared on the list (Kent, Alabama and Northwestern). I'm feeling like this isn't going to happen for me again. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps I'm just in a bad mood. I'm trying to stay positive you only need 1 school to say yes and I have 9 more chances. Anyone else feeling this way?

Phdhopeful2011, I know this is hard and I can understand your feelings but you're still in the running! 9 more chances is pretty darn good if you ask me 🙂.

I'm in my second year applying, and I haven't heard anything! Not sure what else I can do to make my app outstanding 😡

Starting to organize my backup plans, but I still haven't heard from around 10 schools and no OFFICIAL rejections. Hang in there!

As Kravitz (2000) states, "so many tears I've cried, so much pain inside, but baby it ain't over 'til its over."

:luck:

anyone hear from udel, umd, rutgers, and if you've heard from drexel who was your poi (pm me of course)? also, any official temple rejections?

I'm feelin' ya. 0/3 out of ten on my 3rd round. The reality is that it hurts, and to normalize it instead of just trying to ignore it and be positive can be even more difficult to bear. It hurts, and it sucks sometimes.

Focusing on one day at a time gets me through. And hair dye. And wearing SuperWoman colors to work. And watching The Weatherman.
"Sometimes in this s*** life you just have to chuck it" (and make the best you can out of a difficult situation). ~it sounds better coming from Michael Caine, I promise.

Hang tight though; bad moods pass. No matter what happens, your determination and perserverence are noble and admirable. They will be rewarded one way or another-- in strong, resilient character if not in an acceptance.

Hi Everyone. This is my first ever time posting, but I've been lurking for awhile. Will the person who received an invite for GSU's Counseling Psych program please PM me your POI. I received an invite also, but for a different date. How do I update the official list?

Thanks!

So I've been lurking for about two weeks now and I want to ask: has anyone heard anything from Ohio State or University of Nebraska, Lincoln campus?

Also, it looks like everyone here applied to more than 10 schools--should I be worried that I only applied to 4? Do you seriously want to go to all 10 programs? I'm not trying to be rude; I was just wondering. 🙂

Thank you to everyone on this forum who helps alleviate our doubts and give us hope. <3
