2010-2011 PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm assuming you are talking about Texas A&M? If you are, I am waiting on them as well. I contacted the graduate admissions coordinator there last Thursday through email. She stated that the clinical program would be contacting applicants in the next 2 weeks regarding interviews. Hope this eases your stress somewhat!

Thank you for this post, A&M is one of my top choices! 👍

now to go check my email for the umpteenth time...

:bang:

if anyone knows or hears anything about UConn being done with interview invites, or.. really anything.. please. update. so i can go back to living.

I'd like to thank this whole process for making me hate my friends.

Every single time I hear the phone ring between 9am and 7pm, my heart jumps, thinking it's my POI at my top choice school. When I look at the phone and just see (e.g.) "Liam", I honestly think "Dammit Liam, WHY WOULD YOU CALL ME."

OMG I feel the same way!! But for me it's my email alerts! Everytime I hear that "ding!" I clammer to grab my phone and then....junk mail. ugh!

Has anyone heard from UVA (Clinical Phd, not Curry School/Clinical)? I saw something on gradcafe but haven't heard anything since then.

Does anyone know if any of the following Psy.D. programs are still extending interview invitations? and if so, for how much longer?:

Widener, Denver, GW, and Yeshiva

I was accepted to the Chicago School of Professional Psych Psy.D. program, but would love to have more options, particularly from a larger University-based program. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION!!!

I know that Widener is still extending invites and reviewing applications. They actually have several interview dates lined up, so I would not give up hope yet 🙂

Not sure about the other schools

I got the same UNL rejection too, so I guess that makes us reject buddies... I just came back from my first interview where there were 6 other people interviewing for same POI; so needless to say I have been thinking of back-up plans just in case. I have friends who didn't get into PhD programs - some went to MA programs, some took research jobs, and some tried to improve application for following year and then applied again. I personally, worked on improving my GRE score and getting presentation experience for this second time applying and I have gotten much further with invites this year. Good luck in your decision.

I just got a rejection email from UNL. 🙁 First rejection, no interviews yet.

Question: What will you do/have you done in the past if you don't get in anywhere? I'm considering some options and I wondered whether more existed.

Just to let you all know that space seems to be an issue when I update the first post now. So, I'll try to keep posting the "New as of (date)" for the current day and the previous day only to save space. I should have some time this weekend to go through and see where more space can be freed up for all our future invites 😀

Hope we all get some (more) invites soon!

Thank you! I think (if I don't get in, of course) I'll work on my research experience; that's my weakest point. Maybe with a Master's program.

Good luck! I just came back from my 1st one in a strange far away city. It helps to not freak yourself out reading all this stuff.

I was able to relax by watching TV and reading a mindless novel. I also read up on the professors and grad students I would be interviewing with and read over some interview questions/thought of questions to asked. All this helped me feel more prepared the night before.

Remember - you are awesome which is why they chose to invite you to their interview day! Best of luck :xf:

The night before my first interview...at a hotel in a strange far away city! And of course I'm on the forum 🙂

I think things like this also come down to what you want to really do at the end of the day. If Penn is the basket you want to put all your eggs in, then do so. However, I only turned down two interviews last year because I was only fine with losing out on those schools. But the truth is, if CUNY was your preferred choice - you'd turn down Penn (or backwards... and some schools are more aware of this then others.... which is why not attending sometimes ruins your chances with certain schools).

Think carefully what you want to do, you might be able to attend both interviews with enough effort (assuming their actual main interview day is not the same). For example, you don't have to be at Penn's full 3 day interview. I interviewed at three universities all on the same weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Monday), attending only the main interview day and I don't regret it (one of those schools is the one I ended up attending). Bus tickets can be changed and sometimes different plans can be arranged at times (see if CUNY's POI will interview you another day that week/weekend as you live in the area etc).

Regardless, if you choose not to attend - I would agree with what another poster said and be polite and turn them down sooner than later (and I think it's fine letting them know you have another interview - it won't change your chances of acceptance without attending dramatically at that point).

great advice, thank you. i ended up asking if CUNY could reschedule and they said yes, though it was "too bad" i could not make their interview day because they had a lot of info about the school. so, you know.... 😱

Think about it this way: it's already been a month since Christmas... how time has flown!

That is so true! Its bizarre...on one hand I feel like the seconds are crawling by while I refresh my email, on the other I can't believe January is almost over!

LKpsychology, I called GW PsyD on Jan. 19 to ask about timing, and at that time they told me they would begin calls on Jan. 20 and go through (I believe) Jan. 30 or 31. You may want to call and confirm this is still correct, though. Good luck with everything!

Oh oh....now Central Michigan has sent out all invites?
how disappointing I didn't receive it...:scared:

Does anyone know if University of Miami has sent out invites for its Clinical PhD adult track?

I don't think they've sent them yet. Their interview weekend (2/3-2/5) is coming up soon though...

I haven't heard anything from UNL. No rejection letter but their interviews are I think Feb 11-12. My GAMES report says that my application hasn't even been reviewed yet? What do I make of this?

I also got rejected from UNL. It is strange that your GAMES report isn't saying your application has been reviewed. UNL was one of the few schools that actually sent me weekly updates saying that my application was under review, and they actually sent me an update after I was rejected just to let me know that my application status had been changed again (THANKS! 😡). I would probably contact the dept if your status says it hasn't been looked at.

Hi, I'm not sure about the adult track, but I applied to the Health track (got rejected). I found out by emailing the program. They said that interview invites had already been extended. The email stated that the individuals with invites had 1400 GREs and above...so obviously super competitive. Of course, I'm only speaking for the Health track. You may want to shoot an email or call them to be sure. Good luck!!

I just spoke to the admissions office @ Yeshiva (re: Clinical PsyD program) and they said it's an ongoing process and they will be sending out invites up through the second week of February. HUGE relief -- I was under the impression that 2/3 was their only interview date, but apparently not? Anyone else have any info on this or received an invite for a different day? PM me 🙂

Yeah, same here. Nothing quite like getting rejected twice, eh? :bang:

Just got a 2nd interview - this time to my #1 school! So excited but unfortunately it's NEXT WEEKEND. So lots of scrambling and planning to do!

Good luck everyone else. Today is gonna be a good day, I can feel it. Lots of interviews today for you all. 🙂 :luck::xf:

So, has anyone heard from Alabama-Birmingham or Notre Dame yet, for Clinical PhD?

Received a mass email about a month ago about Alabama-Birmingham via an administrative asstistant. Invites will go out no later than the 28th (this Friday). Good luck!!

Hi,

I received a call on 01/20 (GWU), giving me the option of two interview dates and two time slots for each of the two interview days. The next day I got a confirmation email. Hope that helps!

Good luck.

Ms. Phipps

Hi,

has anyone gotten an invitation for Loyola U, Maryland (Psy.D.)??

I read that at least one person here on the forum received a snail mail rejection...

I have not yet. So, I guesss, I am hoping BIG TIME ;_))

I've also been anxiously waiting to hear back from the clinical program at Notre Dame. Based on last year's thread, interviews starting going out as early as January 9th!

I had literally lost all hope, but I got my first interview invite today!!

Don't lose hope everybody, it seems it really IS too early to be counting yourself out!! Good luck everyone!! :soexcited:

So today is the day that DePaul is supposedly supposed to be extending interview invitations by, right? Since they said they would notify people by "mid week" this week that would be today. Please let us/me know if you hear from them!

DePaul results should be coming out today! This is my best fit, in terms of research AND scores, so I'm stalking my email! Profs were supposed to report their choices in by the 24th, and a prior post on here said decisions would be rendered mid-week.

If I don't get this one, I'm seriously going to need to figure out my back up plan, even though there are 5 schools left.

Awesome!!! Congrats!! Just when I was losing hope too 🙂

Awesome, I'm looking forward to hearing about this too. Whether or not I get an interview, I'm looking forward to knowing where I stand with them. Although of course an interview would be preferable, I'm not really expecting it. Yet I'm still really interested and also stalking my email. Hope they hurry up.

Anyway, good luck! Just keep clicking refresh 😉

Last year, I was rejected by my "best fit" program, yet I was accepted by other programs. So, even if you do not get an interview at DePaul, please don't lose hope.
