So do people know when will be the next decision sending day?

sigh...NERVOUS. NERVOUS.

Anybody officially official yet? I got a confirmation e-mail that all materials were arrived and processed. I am officially set to matriculate.

Did you get that packet? I never got it, and the email said the packet would be arriving shortly, and still hasn't.

Congrats to all who were accepted.

For the question essays. Do they want one essay that addresses both questions? Or do they want two essays on one word document- one for Question 1 and the other for Question 2?

Thanks.

Hey guys, I withdrew from here and cancelled my 12/1 interview. Hopefully that puts one of you in luck!

Happy trails!

ACCEPTED! As of yesterday, and apparently my parents got the packaage yesterday too (they mailed it to my home address =/ then made my mom open the envelope via webcam). I interviewed 9/29, but didn't submit my campus preference form until about 10 days after my interview...and decided to snail mail it for some reason...

Anywhoo, stuff I remember from the interview:
-They don't start reviewing your application until after they get that preference form
-The Dean said they typically interview 700-800 people, Accept 360, then they put people on High priority waitlist (which have the best chances of getting accepted), waitlist (that really don't have a great chance), and finally rejection.

Soo..technically I told myself after the interview that I had a 50% chance to get in...if that helps any of you.

For those of you who were accepted and got your packets, it doesn't seem to give a deadline for sending in the deposit. Anyone have that in their packet? Its usually 2 weeks right?

Yea, I'm worried about that too....my packet arrived at my home address on Thursday, but I'm away at school, and won't be back home for a few weeks...I didn't want to risk asking my mom to mail it to me, but if anyone can confirm the deadline for the deposit, I'll figure out what to do from there.

Just called the admissions office. While they do not have an "official" deadline for turning in your deposit for your seat in the class, they generally need a response within a few weeks of receiving your packet. If its going to be longer than that before you send them your deposit, I'd give the admissions office a call and let them know what's going on.

Pre interview hold today. Anyone else get this status???

Got this same email last time I applied like right around this time and that time I was complete only a month earlier then this time. this time I was complete like 2 months ago and complete with all else since August.

Last time I got rejected within a month of getting this status so i'm not hoping for much outcome. I'm almost resigned to the fact that unless a Fl. school comes through I won't be getting into med school at this point.

I guess its what i get for the screw ups of my earlier years.

But I had to give it one last show and know that I did what I could to dig myself out of the hole I got myself into.

I guess I'll know for sure in a month's time but I don't end up thinking I'll get much news.

Also placed on pre-interview hold today

Complete: 9/21
cGPA: 3.92
sGPA: 3.91

🙁

Yea, I ended up calling them this afternoon. The lady I spoke to said you essentially have until May to send in the deposit, but I'm not sure if she understood me or if I understood her, lol.

WOW :wow:

I'm shocked that you were pre interview hold with those stats. but I'd be surprised if you didn't get an interview upon rereview. Unlike me who is expecting a rejection.

Hopefully both of us get an interview 😀

I was a bit disappointed, on two holds now (GWU + SUNY). But me being a Canadian applicant might have had something to do with it at SUNY

ACCEPTED TODAY wooooo! First acceptance, after two years of applying. Very exciting. I interviewed 10/27. Such a fast turnaround!

Stats: OOS >3.6/>33

Congrats! Really happy for you!!! 😀 Can't imagine how you must feel today. Somewhere between relief and pure joy?

Congrats! Good for you for sticking to it and reapplying.

This is still my only acceptance, so I'm even more thankful that Upstate has been so kind to me.

Accepted! So far my first and only acceptance too. I was really surprised because I interviewed 10/25 and didn't expect anything for at least a month

Make sure you guys send in your clinical campus preference form quickly. I got my acceptance 5 hours after they received it.

Hey guys, I am interviewing at SUNY Upstate 11/23. I haven't been able to find a student host. It seems that the first-year students are all taking an exam that Wednesday. Anyone know of a second or third year who is willing to host me? 🙂 Thanks! I hope you are all enjoying this crazy but exciting process!!

Hey does anyone know who to send/address an update letter too? The dean? Or should I just say "Dear Admissions Commitee..." and send the letter to the admissions office...? Thanks

I would like to know this as well.

last time I applied I got this and got rejected within a month and a half.

What does this mean or indicate? Is it good or bad or hard to predict?

Personally, I put upstate out of my mind after I got the hold, just because the e-mail seemed so negative as opposed to other hold status updates. So, if it turns into a rejection, I won't be disappointed, I already was, but it turns into an interview later on, it will be an amazing surprise and awesome. But for now, not really keeping my expectations high. I had my hopes up early on and was excited about Upstate, but the hold kinda took the wind out of my sails momentarily.

Looks like we're applying to a lot of the same places Guju, lol, I see you on every school thread.

I applied to 31 schools and when FAU med app comes out in Feb this coming spring it will be 32. so it can't be that surprising and as you can see from the schools that are other people's safety schools. so yeah a lot of threads cuz I applied to a lot of places.

though out at 9 and withdrew from AECOM cuz I didn't think I stand a shot there. So 21 and when FAU app comes out 22 to go to hear from.

Haha. Don't sweat it. Kind of a similar situation here. High 20s here, 5 of them DO.

Yeah, I went the Master's route too (not at BU though), and I think from other threads we have similar stats.. so yeah, we definitely covered all the "lows and mids" and a few pies in the sky for fun, lol... or "broadly and early", whatever you want to call it.

LOL. yeah. I think BU also tells us to apply to like 30 schools so that's what I did. lol.

good luck. I'm sure you will do fine, hopefully at least at your NY schools.

Thanks. Good luck to you too! I'm hoping you get in this year, especially since I feel like you remind me of SDN, so we can't have SDN fail. Things are all very quiet here. Too quiet haha. Been completed since late August, but other than a few holds, and BU and GT rejections, haven't heard much else. Good luck to you.

so what are some of the decision dates coming up??

Does anyone know where on the bannerweb.upstate.edu website it says if they have received the campus preference form? Under application preference it says not entered and I'm wondering if they haven't received it yet. I sent it to them in september right after my interview and haven't heard back yet.

From what I remember, the lectures are audio recorded, which is what the majority of med schools do. I'm 90% sure anyway.

for those who were accepted, how long did it take for you guys to get the packet after the email? It's been more than a week and I haven't gotten anything in the mail. Maybe I should call?

I'm interviewing on Wednesday...does anyone have any input as to what kind of dialog there is at the interviews? Is there anything that they really seem to stress?

Edit: By "kind of dialog" I mean what is the tone. Is it more relaxed and conversational, or more of a panel questioning?

Both of my interviewers (both MDs) were extremely conversational. They both asked the traditional questions (why MD, tell me about yourself) but were really informal about it. One of my interviewers told me a funny patient story and another started printing out a list of books for me to read for fun 😀. I'd say just know your application, try to think about why SUNY Upstate would be a place you would consider attending, since they may ask you this as well.
