Fire, I'm surprised. I thought for sure the fact your status changed to "Decision Made" was that you've been accepted. That makes me more confused as to why my status never changed - the only thing I can think of is that they haven't talked about me at an admissions committee yet!

I'm surprised as well; I thought my interviews went reasonably well and am perplexed as to why I was put on the HPA...It's possible that they were iffy on whether to accept me or not and decided to put me on the HPA, who knows?
 
My status page hasn't changed from the "Congratulations! You've got an interview" thing they had before. I interviewed in early September. Do you guys remember what the adcom said about the timing for acceptances? I keep checking my email every 15 minutes, and it's driving me nuts.
 
You're in the same boat as me. They sent out a bunch of decisions this morning, so I'm not sure what's up. A person who interviewed the same day as me got accepted. Some people got emails today saying they were put on the waitlist. When I called the admissions office, she told me they were sending out emails all day today and that I should hear back today. Unfortunately, they close in 20 minutes and I haven't heard anything. And my status hasn't changed either.

The only thing I can think of is that the admissions committee hasn't discussed our applications yet.
 
Well, it's good to know someone is in the same boat as me. I was worried at first that they hadn't received my letter indicating my campus choice, but I saw on the application summary page that "Syracuse" was selected.

I guess all we can do is keep our fingers crossed!

i would be interested to know what they say as well...i was at another interview today so just was able to check now, and nothing yet. i also still have that congratulations on my status page. i interviewed 9/22, do you think this is too recent to get a decision this week?

No, I interviewed on Sept. 27th and someone who interviewed the same day as me got their acceptance and I did not. I'm wondering what's up?
 
I interviewed on Sept 27th as well... I still see the "congratulations" screen and no status posted 🙁

I'm thinking it's because I sent them my campus preference on the 29th, so this may have caused me to miss the next committee meeting

Trying to be patient here!
 
I got my acceptance email, but couldn't open the attachment. Can anyone tell me what the attachment was about? should I contact the admissions?
 
i applied RMSP...maybe thats why I got a quick response

My acceptance email does not mention or include any attachment. It is this:

Subject: SUNY Upstate - Decision

Dear XXX,

Congratulations, you have been accepted to SUNY Upstate Medical University! Your acceptance packet should be arriving shortly. If you have any questions after receiving your packet, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or (315) 464-4570.

Sincerely,

I assume the packet is coming via snail mail :laugh:
 
i called admissions this morning and she just kept telling me to check the website. but, she also said that many people are calling and they are going as fast as they can. not sure if that means in sending out emails or in making decisions. either way it just means more waiting

For me, the "attachment" was the text message, while the email itself was blank. I don't think there was supposed to be anything else, as they are snail mailing the acceptance packets.

yeah, i interviewed 9/22 and i am still seeing the congrats on interview message...its getting annoying i just want to know!

did anyone on pre-interview hold send an update letter of interest? Who should one send this too and can it make a difference?
 
How late in the day were people recieving decision emails? My status changed to Decision Made this morning, and I have been a little anxious since I have yet to see anything, and it's after business hours now.
 
is anyone else still waiting for their status to change? i've been ok with all the waiting until now, but i really think i should have gotten some feedback. not sure what to do...

Same thing happened to me: Decision Made yesterday morning, still waiting for an email.

I honestly think that they are doing the decisions one-by-one and that it takes some time. I know the waiting sucks, but I called the admissions office the other day and they said they were working hard to give people decisions over the next few days. If they started interviewing applicants at the beginning of September, they could have up to 20 days worth of interviews to go over. On my interview day there were 12 people there. Which could mean that they have 240 people to review and give decisions to. Could take a bit, so I think we just need to be patient. With that said, I have almost no fingernails left from all the nailbiting I've been doing over the past few days, so I hope we get our decisions soon.
 
what im wondering is about how they do it. people who interviewed in the 9 20s have also got responses. i interivewed on the 15th and have heard nothing yet. the status didn't change either..

Well there doesn't necessarily seem to be an order to who they give decisions to, but that doesn't mean other things aren't a factor. For instance, if one of your interviewers missed an admissions committee meeting its possible they weren't able to make a decision on you yet. You could call the admissions office to see if they have discussed your application at an admissions meeting yet and if not when they were planning on doing that. I don't think that would be an unreasonable thing to ask.

I'm giving them today to give me a decision until I succumb to nerves and call them up.

both my interviewers are on the admissions committee.. maybe thats why its taking a while. but one of my interviewers said there will be no discussion on your file if you have good everything. a discussion is only opened when your lacking in at least 1 area... =(

Mine were as well. Why would the fact that they are on the admissions committee mean it takes longer to hear back? 😕
 
well, i was the only one i believe to have 2 members of admission committee as interviewer. most other people had a medical school student as one of the interviewers. my idea is that having 2 members makes it slower b/c both of them needs to be there? maybe its harder to arrange.. hopefully its that and not b/c my application was so horrifying that they tossed it
 
Received the email at 6:35 this morning (PST). ACCEPTED! So happy! For those of you who haven't heard anything, just be patient. The fact that you took longer to hear back doesn't mean anything bad.
 
accepted IS above average stats. Dont stress out as much as I did its not healthy. Good luck to all.

I know how you feel. Interviewed in early September... it still says "Congrats on getting an Interview."

I'm sure they're working on it though. Let's hang in there. 🙄
 
did anyone who got accepted on the first day get their packet in the mail yet??
 
Need some serious advices

Hi peope.
I was interviewed there on the 20th of Oct, so just now.
I was the guy who was sick...LOL. if you happen to see this post, you will know me.
and I was the Canadian too. (what are the chances of a sick canadian at the interview HAHAHA)

Anyway,
I did great in my first interview. However, in between the time of my first and 2nd interview, the effect of my medication has worn off. I was having serious headache and very bad caughs from my eustachian tube infection.
(the night before the interview, i had a fever at the airport)

I really couldn't think and responde to my 2nd interviewer (MS2), and I don't think i did well at all.

what should i do? can i contact the office and let them know this?


Please advice me on my next step.
I really love SUNY and I really love my first interviewer, and I would really wish to have her as my advisory dean.

Honestly, my personal thoughts are to chalk it up to bad luck. I only say this because I too was sick at one of my interviews, had a terrible sleep in the hotel the night before, but I just did my best during the interview day. I ended up being waitlisted unfortunately, but that's life. Maybe someone on the adcom or more in the know can give you better advice. I'd be afraid that it would come across as making excuses, because you're going to be sick throughout med school and as a doctor.

I'm coming from Hancock International Airport to get to the school - I wanted to ask if anyone knew the price of taxis or other transportation from the airport. I heard the taxis were very expensive...

Are you staying at a hotel? Many offer free shuttle services.
 
Taxis were pretty expensive... cost me about 35 bucks from the airport to my hotel... only to find out later that the hotel offered a free shuttle service. Definitely call the hotel and see.
 
Thanks all! I am staying with a student host who lives off campus, so no free shuttle for me 🙁 But it's good to know the $35 price range - I will plan for that.

No! I am still waiting. I feel like the deadline to submit a deposit is going to pass while I'm waiting. I did get extremely nice e-mails from my interviewers, though.
