You interviewed on 9/15 right? I did too, and have heard nada so far. I called the lady yesterday and she had no new information for me. They could probably avoid a lot of phone calls and anxious applicants if the status website had a little more detail and they set gave us reasonable expectations up front for when we will hear from them. Oh well. I wait.
 
For people who recently interviewed, they said 3-4 weeks, and if not, soon after the holidays.

Anyway, after quite the interesting interviews I had an acceptance dream. It was my first medical school related dream. I'm crossing my fingers that it's an omen.

Edit: They said a big committee meeting was being held soon in which they were hopefully going to crank out a lot of decisions.

Just in case you want more detail: at my interview, they told me the admissions committee was meeting on Nov 17th and decisions will be out one week afterwards. Good luck!
 
I feel like decisions are released so randomly here. They told us 3-5 weeks and we heard back a week later. Of course, that is the good kind of random.
 
Has anyone else heard anything recently?

I interviewed 10/27 (OGMD - congrats!), and I've been losing sleep because of this "big committee meeting." Hopefully, we hear good news.
 
is anyone else here on the HPA list? It seems kind of weird that all I see are acceptances and rejections but no waitlists.
 
Interviewed in Mid-Oct and still haven't heard anything. Hopefully this big committee meeting will give me good news. Question though: do schools find it annoying if you contact them asking if they've gotten to your file yet? I could see it as showing continued interest, or just obsessively impatient.

Thanks for the response. Do they hand out big powerpoint lecture packets or note packets?

Do most students take extensive notes during class? Our tour guide mentioned that most students don't use laptops during class.

Are there any other academic resources provided? Anything that makes learning easier?

I recall at the lunch, we were told that we would not receive rejections before Thanksgiving. I'm just curious if anyone has received any acceptances at all (w/in the last week).

Yes on the note packets.

Extensive note taking really depends on the person and the class. Some people are just note takers. And some lectures it just seems like there's a decent amount of extra stuff that isnt in the course packet that might be worth writing down. It depends honestly.

I think it's fair enough to say most students don't use laptops, but there are power outlets and wifi and stuff, so if laptopping is your thing, who cares what most people do.

Laptopping should be a word.

There are definitely a lot of academic resources--free tutoring from 4th year AOA students, review sessions, professors are really available and willing to help (as in, being in the Anatomy lab at 7 AM before class to help), sessions about study skills, past exams. From my experience, they really are willing to do just about everything short of take the test for you to make sure you're in a good way.
 
for those of you still waiting for a decision, i interviewed on 9/22 and have still heard nothing. i've called and emailed and they keep telling me that they have everything, but sometimes people get moved around for one reason or another. at this point i'm beyond being concerned over when they will get back to me because clearly they are taking their time

Just checked the banner website and my application status says decision made.

Application Status: Decision Made

Application preference is still blank.

Should I call the office or wait for an e-mail?
 
Has anyone heard back since they had their big committee meeting two weeks ago?

I just got the pre-interview hold email. Doesn't look like I'll be interviewed for a very long time, if at all, so that is somewhat depressing.

Stats are 3.66 / 33R (9P 11V 13B) / IS

Sorry to hear that.🙁

It seems like you have received a fair number of post-interview rejections. Do you think it has anything to do with your interviewing style? Your GPA and MCAT are certainly not the problem here. I'm actually really surprised you haven't been more fortunate, given those stats.

Does anyone know what it means when your status changes to "Decision made" before the you get an interview and campus has been selected?
I see a lot of people with "Decision made" status after their interview but no one before it though. I suspect it's bad thing.

They don't accept applicants pre-interview.

He's saying that the only (final) decisions are accept and reject. If it's pre-interview and that status appears, then it means rejection.

Ever since I got put on hold months ago, it has had nothing on it.

How do you check your app status? I was notified by email that I'm in pre-interview hold, but some you have posted that you know if your app review is in progress or complete. Where do you check? Maybe I overlooked the link? 😳 Thx!!
 
I'm in the same boat as well with the pre-interview hold. I got the email for the hold about a week ago, and my status page has never said anything about a decision being made.

It doesn't seem like many people get invites after a pre-interview hold though.🙁

The only status page I know about is the bannerweb page. If someone could shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated. Where does the "decision made" text show up?

I saw it on bannerweb page. I wasn't notified by email or anything. Checked it randomly. I applied late btw. Finished the AMCAS app on 10/14.

So it has been about a month since I received my acceptance via email but I still haven't gotten my acceptance package yet. I emailed them and no response. I will call but has anyone experienced this?
 
😛 just for a laugh, those who think the winters won't be "that bad".... it's been snowing nonstop for 5 days now. We're at over 3 feet I think. Every single school was closed today except Syracuse University and ESF (which is just stupid. I live about 3 miles from campus and couldn't get to class today..plows can't keep up with the snow. I think they said something about an inch an hour...)

I should take a picture of my car...can barely see it under the snow. We were the snowiest city in the country, averaging 13 feet of snow a year.

So yeah, congrats to everyone accepted to upstate!

(oh, and lets not forget the forecast is snow for the next 10 days too 😛)
 
I guess it depends on what you think is bad. Honestly, I'd much rather snow than cold rain. Snow is a pain when you need to drive places, but that's the nice thing about being in school. My Uncle and Aunt are from Buffalo, and moved to Florida a few years back. In less than a year, they moved back to Buffalo because "they couldn't take the weather". I thought that was hilarious.
 
Yeah, it's so true. I'm from Colorado (born raised and live there during the summers) and people are always like "oh, so you're used to the snow."

Colorado's the second sunniest state in the country, we average over 300 days of sunshine a year. And if it snows, it usually gets stuck in the mountains. there are exceptions of course, '06 we got 4 feet in a matter of a week but that's the exception, not the rule.

I'ts just always funny to me people saying they love the snow until they really do have to live in it for 6 months out of the year. we've had an unusually warm winter, this being the first real snow we've had and I guess the weather gods are making up for it. I think it's SYracuse's way of saying "flee!" (I graduate next week and am moving back to CO).

I guess my real point was that when people say it snows a lot here, they aren't joking or exaggerating. Your life revolves around it. you buy clothes taht won't get ruined when they salt the sidewalks/roads. You buy 4 wheel drive cars and actually get snow tires. You realize that despite the fact that this is nothing new, NO ONE knows how to drive in the snow. (we set a record with like over 150 accidents in the past 3 days) And that because this is Syracuse, class will NEVER get cancelled. EVER. (we had a blizzard on v-day this year and they were forced to cancel classes after 2pm or something like that. it was the first time SU had cancelled school in 13 years.)


😛 Maybe I'm just huffy cause it's cold and I'm tired of brushing off my car every morning.

In all reality, I didn't apply to upstate because I'm tired of living in Syracuse but it's a great school and I would have been lucky to get in had I applied. There's 3 fantastic hospitals attached to Upstate (the VA, Crouse and Upstate), some really great oncology clinics and the like. The only downside is that there really isn't much to do in Syracuse except go to class and drink. Maybe that's how some people like it. Me personally, I need an outlet and getting drunk on the weekends just doesn't cut it. It's a really poor area too, lots of gang activity/voilence (like last week there was a shooting downtown and a baby got caught in the crossfire etc etc. ) so it's all a matter of where you want to learn I guess.

On the bannerweb, it said "Application Status: Decision Made"
(I just double-checked the bannerweb to confirm this)

SUNY simply sent me an email with the title "SUNY Upsate - Decision" and said that they cannot offer me an acceptance (I guess, they meant a spot for the interview).

How long do you have to mail in the deposit anyways? I'm currently away at school and kinda want to open the letter myself in like a week.... I received the letter last week
 
Sorry to hear that gujuDoc. I saw the "Rejected today" in my email and was hoping it wasn't you while the page loaded. You have to be commended for sticking with it, I'm not sure if I could do it for two years, forget three. Being OOS for a NY school is tough though, so hopefully you'll hear from somewhere else. Best of luck!

So looks like the preinterview rejections that are meant to be sent in fall are being sent out.

withdrew from one and rejected from 2 (buffalo and upstate) which were both ironically upstate NY schools. lol.
