I'm a OOS applicant from the west coast. Wondering what my chances are getting a interview invite (complete sometime Mid September). My status has been "under review" since than, no change or emails from Temple. Does Temple do a "Holistic" approach towards selecting their interviewees? 29 mcat with about s3.70 and c3.75. really good, well-rounded extracurricular, leadership, work and clinical experience (Graduated in 09')

Thanks for your input! Really hope to get an interview invite from Temple!
 
interviewed a couple weeks ago, but looking through the thread everyone seemed to have to wait a pretty decently long time to hear back!

during my interview day, one of the ladies that gave the basic information presentation said we'd hear back within 2 weeks....the committee meets on the Friday a week after your interview, and then sends out notifications after the weekend. I wonder why everyone else on this thread seems to have waited so long??

anyways, now I'm confused as to whether to hope to hear within a couple of days, or if I'll be waiting several more weeks. 😕

I heard back in a little less than two weeks. It could really go either way.
 
Hey all, I interviewed here last Thursday. Any idea which individual (if any) we should address a letter of intent to? Maybe the senior associate dean of education?
 
Hey all! New to the website, but I had a quick question about Temple that I hope some of you could answer. I was accepted on Jan. 21st, but I didn't see anything that said we need to confirm this acceptance. Is there a certain date by which our deposit needs to be in or do we need to inform the admissions committee of our acceptance?
 
There should be a tab on your TMO page to pay the deposit. I think it's supposed to be paid within 2 weeks of your acceptance. Congrats!
 
Hey people. I'm just curious...

I received an invite for Temple, but canceled it when I was accepted to a school here in Texas. Before I canceled, my interview was scheduled for Dec 15 at like 9 am. I was wondering who had that interview time and if they had good results!

I just hope that giving my interview to someone resulted in an acceptance 🙂!

I sent an update letter to Temple about 2 weeks ago and got an interview invite today!! On my way to Philly!!! Anyone else interviewing Feb. 8th!?!?

Hey guys, does anyone know if Temple does any kind of second look weekend? I haven't been able to find any reference of it thus far. It's looking like there's a significant chance I might end up in Philly, and it'd be great to be able to check Temple out again!

Edit: If no one else knows anything, I'll go ahead and give admissions a call tomorrow. I looked through my acceptance letter again and couldn't find any mention, so I assume there isn't one.

Actually, I believe Temple does have a second look weekend. If you look at last year's thread, the date was around the 3/26. I think they just send a notice closer to the date...

The agenda for the "Second Look" at Temple University School of Medicine on Friday, March 26th is below. The day will start with registration and a continental breakfast at 8:15 am and provide an opportunity to meet with students, faculty, and administrators from Temple. As a member of the class of 2014, this is an opportunity to revisit our school and hear more about the curriculum, programs, and services offered to Temple medical students as well as meet your future classmates.

Complimentary parking will be available in the Ontario West Garage the day of the event. Confirmation emails will be sent the week of the event and contain directions and parking information.

The Second Look program will finish around 3:30. After the Second Look, we will be going to Dave and Busters (located along the waterfront not far from Center City) from 4 - 7 pm. There will be a Temple bus available to take students who did not drive to the Second Look directly to Dave and Busters. For students who drove to the Second Look, there is parking available at Dave and Busters. At 7:00 the Temple bus will leave Dave and Busters and make stops downtown to drop students who are staying in Center City. The bus will not return to Temple after Dave and Busters.

Awesome Geekchick. Thanks! I looked in the thread last year but couldn't seem to find it. I didn't even think to look in the second look day thread. You should win a detective award!
 
Continuing candidates list letter sent on 11/24. Sorry for the late post. Interviewed 10/26, out-of-state applicant. Really liked the school and interviews seemed to go well.
Hoping to get off the list, even after having two other MD acceptances. Sent an update letter and extra LOR.
Did any out-of-staters get off the list recently?

You're welcome! It was in the regular 2009-2010 thread, but a page or two after second look was being discussed more. I would still like an award, though! 🙂

Sorry to hear about the WL. I don't think anyone has been accepted off the WL yet, but IIRC from interview day, they said they internally rank the WL but don't tell students their placement on it. Most movement happens in May and June, probably after a lot of OOS students decide to go to a state school or something that is considerably less money (something that doesn't really apply to PA). GL!

I interviewed at Temple on 1/18, and am soooooo anxious to hear back!! I LOVED the facilities, the programs, and the overall vibe of the school! Definitely my top choice program (and I think my interviews went REALLY well 🙂. We were told on interview day that the admissions committee would have a decision back to us in about a month (mid February for me)...

Can any of you comment on how long they took to get back to you after an interview?? Anyone sooner than a month? Anyone longer? I think the committee meets every Friday and sends out notifications afterwards... The wait is killing me over here, so I'm just looking for a little glimmer of what to really expect! :laugh: Lol.

I interviewed on December 10th and am still waiting. Maybe I'll hear something this Friday? In general it looks like they take about a month give or take a couple weeks.
 
I was complete around mid-Oct, received an invite 12/22, interviewed 1/11 and my status just changed to "correspondence sent"!!!! If I was thinking about it all the time before, I am now! Def my top choice, it was a great experience interviewing there!

They had said the committee would meet the friday after my interview, but I ended up calling and finding out they hadn't met that Friday and were meeting the next. Looks like they did...

If I had what felt to be a very good interview should expect to get in or do they bring people in for interview still having reservations about other aspects of their application?

"Correspondence sent" is code for a waitlist letter. Sorry to be the bearer of semi-bad news. :-(

I believe Temple gets a lot of WL movement, though, thanks to the high cost of tuition, especially for OOS students. Good luck!
 
Wow, that really sucks. I guess the answer to my question about whether a school might have reservations about your app even if you get an interview is "yes", because I'm almost positive my interview would have helped me.

I assume you're quite sure about this, Geekchick. Would they have changed my status to "accepted" or "rejected" before I received the letter in those cases? Thanks for the info even if it is quite devastating for me...
 
I don't think so. If you read back through this thread, you will see more examples from people. It appears that Temple actually rejects almost no one post-interview (I don't think I've seen that happen to anyone here this year or when I've skimmed through last year's thread). People that are accepted get an email and have their status changed to accepted. Waitlisters get a snail mail letter and have their status changed to "correspondence sent".

I'm sorry you're not getting the news you were hoping for and that you come off the waitlist! If you're very passionate about the school I would send a letter of intent and let them know it. It certainly couldn't hurt. 🙂

invited for interview today! there is hope for those who are waiting!
 
around mid october. pretty late. i took the mcat on sept 9th, so i really had no choice. once i got my scores i already had everything else finalized and just sent it right away.

Congrats on the invite Booya! Do you have pretty strong stats then? I'm still waiting desperately for that interview, only average stats here though.
 
cum gpa 3.8, science 3.9, (im a post bacc) 12 P, 8 V, 10 B. ok ec's, im a teacher at the moment so that may have helped. who knows. i got denied at drexel, and i was originally under the impression that temple was "better" than drexel, by better i mean takes more competitive applicants. so once again, who knows! but good luck!
 
I liked Temple a LOT more than I liked Drexel so personally, I want to tell you to not be too upset about that. 🙂
 
mediocre stats, URM, and OOS.... praying temple shows me some love...soon :scared::scared::scared:

Does anyone know when we get our admission packet with information about apartments and such? Also any word on second look date? All I heard was that it is sometime end of March or early April.

I look forward to meeting everyone!
 
Interview invite today!! I had almost completely given up hope on Temple. I was complete Sept 14th (147 days according to my spreadsheet...)
