Has anyone submitted their secondary a while back and gotten NOTHING...like no complete email, rejection letter, or anything? Because i submitted my secondary online 8/20 and its october 3rd and i dont have any complete letter or anything in my inbox. I tried to email them asking about that, and sent an update letter before i checked here and realized they dont like those, and no one ever gets back to me. Is it beneficial to call their office and see if you are complete or do they not like to entertain such questions?

I submitted on 8/16 and received a complete email late last week.
 
I submitted on 8/19 and I've heard absolutely nothing.

oh ok thanks guys! i just wanted to make sure it wasnt some total malfunction i should follow up since i havent applied to tulane before...maybe ill get a complete email eventually then.

From last years thread, apparently it is literally a one woman show with processing applications. I think you can call Tues and Thurs to find out the status of your application. Someone had called in August and reported that those who submitted stuff in July will be processed reasonably quickly, but that in the Sept-Nov months, it will take much much longer to reach a decision simply because of the volume of applications.

Also, "no complete" e-mail anecdotally may be a good thing, as most people with interviews who posted on here did not ever get a complete e-mail. Tulane is not like GWU or some other schools that puts everyone not interviewed on hold till may/june before sending rejections...when your application is reviewed, a decision is made to interview or reject, not to hold for re-review months later.

My application was complete 9/9 and I just got my interview today for 11/1.

Anyone interested in sharing a 2:30 cab to the airport after the interview on Friday? I was planning to take the shuttle back but my flight is at 5:20 and the latest they'll pick up from the med center for that is 2:15. Also since bags will be stored at admissions and not the med center a lady I talked to in admissions said it would be easier to leave straight from admissions office.

Is an MCAT score release post August truly out of luck for interview here?

how did you know you were complete 9/15? email?
my mcat scores came out then too and i haven't heard anything at all from tulane

My score came out 8/31 and I have yet to hear anything either. I think my file is not yet complete. Gujudoc must've had all of her stuff in long before that new MCAT score was released to get a decision in 3 weeks.

Haha I actually moved my up to Oct. 25th so I could spend Halloween in Vegas...and be back at school for a midterm. Good luck though!

I submitted the secondary 7/17, got the complete email 8/18, and the rejection email today. So it's been about a month between each email from them.
 
Rejected today :-(

I was complete September 17th and I just got the email today, so there seems to be about a 3 week turn around between completion and any updates.

My states for comparison:
29R/3.85BCPM, First gen college student (I've heard some schools consider that URM, just thought I'd mention it)

Yes, Tulane was really accomodating! I just picked a better date and they happened to have an open slot that day.
 
I submitted my secondary on 8/21 and got my complete notice on 10/8...anyone know an approximate time until I may here a yes or no for interview invite?

No news is good news to a point. I was complete early august or late July, and I received the complete email in august. Since then nothing! So I'm def positive about it.
 
Okay, I interviewed here on friday and LOVED it. More than I thought I would even.

The students were super nice, the day is well planned and I liked my interviewers too. The weather was also great. Now it's just waiting. :xf:
 
Rejected! 🙁 OOS, 31S/3.35, complete 8/6. I managed to hold out for a while, before getting the boot, though! 😉

Yeah agreed. At this point it's certainly better than the alternative, so there is still hope.
 
I submitted 9/6 and I have had no news since then. The admissions office is probably swamped, I feel bad for the poor lady. I called to ask about my status, she expressed her disdain at the volume of applications and said hold on. 🙁
 
I submitted almost two months ago. Still no completion....
 
i was complete on 8/4. Do you think I should call to make sure my app wasnt misplaced, or is it still the waiting game? I just feel like they either reject or interview and dont really leave people hanging for this long 😕

If they do make decisions pretty quickly .. either we're an anomaly or this year is just different. I got a complete email from them on 8/26, and (despite the rumor that getting a complete email = rejection) I haven't actually gotten an email response or anything from them since. But hopefully not having gotten a rejection email is at least somewhat good news ...?

Good luck. It's a very conversational interview, where the interviewers (probably) aren't going to ask you complicated or controversial questions to try and get a "read" on you, based on your response. It's closed file and the big things to think about are, Why Tulane/Why NOLA and the community service you have done in the past. Really understanding your position on those three questions is all the preparation you need.

Odds are you won't get any ethics/healthcare questions, unless you bring that stuff up and want to discuss it, in which case they will be more than happy to hear your positions. In fact, I can't even remember being asked "why medicine?" on either of my 2 faculty interviews, or my student interview, and was instead grilled on why I want to be in New Orleans and why I would pick Tulane over a school in the northeast.

Also, the student interview counts as much as the faculty interview, so while it is important to be yourself, take it seriously. It is by no means just a formality. One good way to prepare would be to fly in a day or two early, spend the day walking around the french quarter and hitting up local restaurants, especially if you have never been to New Orleans.

Does anyone remember if the Tulane Admissions Committee said they would notify us of decisions on October 15th? I interviewed there on September 13th, but that seems so long ago! Thanks, and good luck to all you upcoming interviewees. Tulane was so incredibly awesome and laid back!

Can anyone share your thought about the secondary question #3: Are you participating or have participated in a study abroad program at your university?

I wonder why they ask this question.... Other schools don't seem to care too much about the study abroad experience....

Hey Mira,

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing it is because Tulane seeks out well rounded students with a wide variety of experiences. They are giving you the opportunity to showcase your study abroad experience which doesn't always neatly fit into an AMCAS application (I didn't include mine at all in my AMCAS so I was glad to get a chance to talk about it here). Tulane definitely wants to know that you have interests and experiences outside of medicine.

Submitted 8/25, and Complete email today (10/14) so here's hoping (and probably knowing just a little bit) that the complete email = rejection theory is false!!!! 🙂 They sure take their time, but I am glad to hear from them either way.
 
Rejection emails going out today. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for a response. I am sure many of you want to know, yes I did receive the complete email about a month ago.
 
Do they usually email them out in bunches? Could they also be sending out interview invites today?

I submitted my application on 8/21 but was not complete until 10/8, any news will be good news at this point to me.
 
Just received an interview invite. Is there any confirmation following one's reply of interview acceptance?
