Does anybody have any interview tips? I'd really appreciate it!

Know your application inside and out, be confident with how your activities have impacted your decision to become a physician....Know why you want to be a doctor and not any other health care profession (nurse, technician, etc.). If there are any deviations in your application (i.e. short period of poor grades) know why it happened / have a good explanation! That was my interview in a nutshell last year! Hope that helps. Also check out interview feedback here on SDN, great resource for interviewing

Thanks! Yeah, I'm going through the interview questions on SDN right now.

When they say an interview with a faculty member and a medical student, they mean two different interviews or one interview with both present?

For the student interview there were two students, one who was the primary interviewer and one who seemed to be in training. The faculty interview was one-on-one. Which one is first varies.

Last year they were conducted separately one after the other. Faculty first, then student. Not sure if it was this way for everyone though (the ordering of interviews)

At least your getting updates. Haven't had one since 9/15. Hoping to hear something soon

so i got into creighton and my state school. I really, really loved creighton. The only thing holding me back is the cost... Anyone in a similar situation or care to shed some light? Is it worth an extra 15-20k a year?

Think about it. That is the kind of money that will prevent you from buying a car/house/saving for retirement. Especially if you become a GP.

I don't regret the private school I went to for undergrad (I also came out with less loans than many people), but if I could do it over, I might seriously consider going to a public school to have kept my costs down.

Yes, there are loan forgiveness/ military scholarships/etc out there that will help, but considering that federal medical school loans are NO LONGER SUBSIDIZED, I think money should be a much more serious consideration for people whose parents plan not to foot any of the tuition bill.

Ultimately, you need to do some soul searching and really follow your heart. I have friends who are current M1s at Creighton and they would say that it IS worth the extra $$. They were all accepted to multiple schools, as well.

I remember the Dean at Loyola telling us a story where this one girl chose her state school over Loyola due to cost. 6 months into school, she was calling him and begging to be transferred to Loyola. That said, follow your heart, not the dollar signs. Best wishes!

And a couple years later she will realize that she saved thousands by not taking out a non-dischargeable student loan with compounding interest.

Do you think it is too late to send in a secondary for Creighton?

Does anyone know what the updates mean? I have been complete since the end of August and my application was updated 10/21. Does anyone get email notifications of the updates, or do you just log on a lot?

My guess is that the updates mean our application was reviewed. Whether that is good or not I don't know... Hopefully yes.

last update early sept... im guessing they stopped looking at my app

Where do students usually live? Any popular apartments?

stay away from north omaha if you value your life. JK, but don't wander through there late at night after date parties; but most live off campus, I know of a few at the Bank, some in the Old Market Lofts. Lots of good places out there

So I had not heard anything from the school for a while. I called admissions the other day to see what's going on. Turns out they have had everything since early September, they just didn't bother checking it yet. I must have really made enemies at that school haha

Reapplicants Unite, whats up August haha. Did you not get a complete email?

I am very anxious to hear back from Creighton... has anyone heard from interviews 9/30-10/1 yet?

Well I interviewed on 09/30 and all I know so far is that I got a status update today at 4:30pm... I know it's nerve wracking but we will probably hear from Creighton before the end of the week! Hang in there!!

Got my packet in the mail today - people who don't know, you can call for a status update, give your AMCAS ID and get your decision!

I called them a little while back because I had the same question and they said that it is kind of random how they look at applicants and that it could possibly a month or two from now until we may hear anything. I guess it's just a waiting game sometimes...

Such a shame. It's been over two months since I was marked complete, and no II. Was hoping to coordinate interview weekend with a Husker home game, but doubtful they've got interview openings around the Iowa game. Sigh...

At this rate, maybe they'll get around to interviewing me around the spring red n' white game. OOS, 3.7/35

when did you interview raltima? I was on 10/08 so I should be hearing within the next week or two I hope...

So I've been complete since 8/23. Is it safe to assume I'm not getting an II? 🙁

Accepted. Interview 9/23. On 11/2 a link popped up on my creighton NEST account to pay a professional deposit so I assumed I was accepted. Waited a couple days for a call, but I finally caved and called admissions on the 11/4 and they said i was indeed accepted. My home address got the acceptance letter postmarked on 11/3. On the phone they said Mr. Garmon and the dean had been out of the office for more than a week and that is why I didn't get a call.

I could not wait any longer so I called and... I'm ACCEPTED!!!! So very excited 🙂

Have they sent out rejections pre-interview or do they not? What schools do silent rejections?! So rude. Just TELL ME! haha

Or do they just keep re-reviewing? :xf:

Mine hasn't been updated since 10/13...

I haven't been updated since 8/26 🙁

I recently went to an interview here and I have a really good feeling about the school. Good luck everyone! 😀

Agreed, Creighton was awesome! I interviewed 11/4, does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is?

Has anyone been rejected pre-interview? I haven't been updated since July 15....

Edit: Just called admissions. They said first rejections won't go out until late December or early January.

Haha, Merry Christmas, suckers!

Sent an update letter via email yesterday at 11/22 7pm. Today it says my application was updated 11/22 9:43pm. After accounting for the time difference...WOW they are really on top of things.

wow! mine was updated last night too.

is that a good thing? 😵
