Thanks for the info 👍 So say they have a class size of ~150, roughly 550 are waitlisted, and that means (400-150)/550 = 250/550 = 45% of the waitlist ends up being accepted (whether they choose to matriculate or not). Is that math... sound? Haha, I'm just trying to gauge my rough chances.

...Unless they over-accept, which many schools do. (I have no idea whether or not Creighton does). I may very well be giving up my spot at Creighton, though, so hopefully it'll go to one of you (if I do).

Any one know much about financial aid and scholarships at Creighton? Do most students get scholarships or should I not expect much/any? Im an OOS student with middle of the road volunteer work, nothing over the top like peace corps.

My understanding is that they don't offer very many scholarships.

From what I read on the website, most of their money goes to undergraduate students.

That, and constructing a way too expensive building with all marble floors (Harper Center) Im not even sure what goes on in half of its rooms

They get pretty handicapped with some of the donations they get. For instance I know that the woman's athletic's facility they put next to morrison was given to them through a donation specifically for that, and for that alone. Not sure if this is the same with Harper, but just fyi. Also if I remember right, there were plans to move the business school from humanities to Harper.

Ya, that's my fault. I can be kind of a sarcastic/tongue in cheek with my jokes. Should of followed that statement with some kind of emoticon.

Any idea of when the last interview groups (March 16th) will hear back by?

Last interviews were actually March 24th, and they said 4-6 weeks.

I interviewed on the 17th, and they said 3-4 weeks at that point. That recently had a break in interviews and said it allowed them get caught up.

Sorry if this has been posted a thousand times but I honestly can't decide... Does anyone have any pros and cons as far as spending 3rd and 4th years in Phoenix vs Omaha. The info in all the brochures doesn't really say much at all. I gotta make a decision in the next day. If you say phoenix can you back out later if you change your mind? Thanks

From my interview, it sort of seemed like there's a little flexibility later on, but it's probably more like if you find someone who will switch with you, they probably won't stop you.

I think the school is still pretty flexible about it, but what it's coming down to for me are the facts that Creighton is already well established in Omaha so there a lot of great connections there and that I don't want to move to Omaha this summer only to have to move down to Phoenix in two years. Just some things to think about.

Let me clarify here..when you first get accepted you will be asked for one preference. I believe you have until May 15th to decide/change your decision. Afterwards, in July you will receive a confirmation location and at that point, you are basically stuck with your choice.

Since Phoenix is the smaller of the 2 choices, if you decide to switch from Omaha to Phoenix you will be put on a ranked waitlist, which can numerically range from class to class.

That being said, EVEN if you find someone who is willing to switch with you, you will not be able to just jump over to the Phoenix track simply because there will still be a group of people who are ahead of you already on the waitlist since July. Thus, you would start at the bottom of that waitlist if you change your mind from Omaha to Phoenix after the confirmation location has been determined.

I hope this explanation helps. Please send me a message if you have further questions.

Letters of Rec disappeared and I called this afternoon. I should be receiving my acceptance letter next week!!!

Hurray! I love this school

yeah, i literally woke up to the joyful phone call from carolyn this morning! good news on friday the 13th! lol. good luck with the rest of your med school applications everyone.

Congrats on the acceptances, everyone! 🙂 When did you all interview? I interviewed March 23rd and am hoping to hear soon...:scared:

Yep same thing for me for credit card attempt. I am on a Mac. I've tried different browsers tho. I sent them an email asking about it/an alternate method of paying. But if its happening to everyone, at least we're not getting behind the game!

I was March 17th

Noticed today that my letters of rec disappeared on my status page, so I called and was accepted!!! YAY!!!! 😍😍😍

I filled out and sent my letter back to Creighton.

Looks like I'll be see some of you this Fall. I seriously can't wait, I love everything about this school.

What exactly does it mean when the letters of rec disappear on the status page? I've noticed a lot of people say that the letters are gone and then they are accepted. Do the letters go away if the adcom simply made a decision, or if I am accepted? I interviewed on march 24th and I'm getting pretty anxious!!

They go away when a decision is made. Mine went away and I was waitlisted.

After a lot of debate, I've decided to withdraw from Creighton. However, I can't find the procedures on how to tell them. Do they require a written consent or can I just send an email?

So I called this morning and was informed that I am an alternate. I know that this is an unranked "list", more like a pool. I was just wondering what other alternates have been doing to get an acceptance. Also, is there a certain time that they activate their list or are they currently just taking whoever they feel fits best?

you can just send an email to the admissions office.

If you call on Thursday during their open door hours, the admissions folks will go through your file with you and make recommendations. Good luck!

I officically withdrew my acceptance from Creighton today. I loved the school but I'm an east coast baby and am not in any way ready to move to Nebraska. Plus the school gave me all loans...I hope my spot is given to an SDNer on the Waitlist!

What is the time that it takes for the school to mail out decision letters, after they make a decision? I wish all you good news.

I think they mail it within about a day of making the decision, but you can also call and ask for your status before the official notification arrives.

I called about my decision on a Friday and didn't get all my paperwork until about a week later...

I have a question about financial aid. I was accepted about 2 weeks ago, filled out all the paperwork for my class reservation and FAFSA. I know have looked in my NEST account that I was offered a federal direct unsubsidized loan and federal grad plus loan. Is this the financial aid package?
Thanks in advance

Yes. Almost all the scholarship money is given to students that did their undergrad at Creighton and there aren't federal grants for medical school (like there was in undergrad).

Let's hope they show me love then. Haven't heard anything yet though... Crossing my fingers.

Btw, congrats to all acceptances! You deserve it

Is this false then? It seems that not 99% of students receive a grant/scholarship. I would appreciate anything, no matter how small...should we petition? Jkjk...

http://grad-schools.usnews.rankings...edical-schools/private-financial-aid-rankings

Yeah, that link seems contradictory to what I have been told. Also, US News recently released a report with the indebtedness of graduating med students, Creighton was number three on list off most debt, while Mayo students had the least debt. If that is the case, seems kinda odd that Creighton would be right under Mayo in number of students receiving scholarships...

Well, that does seem a bit odd. Perhaps the small size of the mayo class has something to do with their scholarship availability. Do they give a dollar amount when comparing the school student debt?

I didn't receive any scholarship money from Creighton and my patents and I are pretty low-income. I did my undergrad elsewhere.

I withdrew my acceptance - good luck to those waiting!

What kind of stats do you guys who applied and got accepted have?

Would 4.0 and mid-20 with heavy ECs be competitive here, in general?

Your 4.0 would be highly competitive at any school, but your mid-20's score will effectively get you screened out everywhere. Consider a retake.

You should probably try to retake your MCAT. I got in with 3.85 (3.7s), 28 MCAT. I have 4 years outside of high school in an americorp type internship (Creighton is huge on service), I work at a hospital (so have tons of patient interactions), and shadowed a physician who teaches at Creighton and wrote me a strong LOR. To be honest, it was that LOR that got me an interview, and then it was my awesomeness that got me in 😀
