Same here. I'm just glad to finally get a "final decision" response. A yes or a no after two months is all I've been waiting for. Another 4-5 months of wait list would put me in permanent purgatory. :laugh: Good luck everyone!
 
i interviewed on 10/5 and still have not heard a word from them yet. Has anyone else been waiting for 2+ moths without any response at all?
 
Ballu, what is your status on the website? I interviewed the same day and status changed to final decision last week. I haven't received anything from them by email or mail, but think it should be this week based on other posts.

I contacted admissions and I have confirmed the notion that if you want to hold your seat at drexel, but decide to go somewhere else, the $100 tuition deposit is NOT REFUNDABLE. The only way that you will benefit from the tuition deposit is if you matriculate, if you go elsewhere, you just donated $100 to DUCOM. And i thought the $100 secondary was expensive 🙁
 
My status changed to "your file is with a committee member" about two weeks ago. it has stayed liked that since
 
I'd say you should expect some movement soon, though its realistic where you're at based on the timeframe people are seeing. I had that status for a couple weeks, then it went to under consideration by the committee for a couple weeks before a final decision status last week.

How long did it take to go from "Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly" to "under consideration?"
 
I think I was with a member 11/10, in committee 11/28, and final decision 12/9.
 
Man I've been complete since September and no word about interview /hold. Really hoping for an invite here!
 
I have been with the committee for 3 weeks. I am not sure if that is a bad thing or not. I was with a member of the committee the week following my interview.

Not to mention, my status ends with "your admission status to Drexel of University." Does anyone else have a status with an extra "of"?

That can only mean you're getting rejected. Just kidding 😀. Mine doesn't have that though. Probably just a glitch in the matrix.

I'm sorry, didn't mean to give misinformation! Will go back and edit my post so as to not confuse anyone, if you can edit yours.

On the bright side, the deposit doesn't run into the $1000 mark like some DO schools.
 
Hey guys I'm interviewing here in early January. Can someone help me answer these questions?

1. Does Drexel give out any merit based scholarships or is it pretty much all loans?


2. Their website didn't have much info on research, just a blurb about some humanities research students can get involved in. They say students can do research on and off campus...what exactly does that mean? Say you want to get a project during first year involving ENT...would that be easy? If you get a project, is it funded?

3. How much time to study for STEP I?

About 40 out of 200 tend to regularly go to lectures for IFM. Sometimes the number dwindles to 20ish, depending on upcoming exams or breaks. All lectures are recorded and posted online within 20 minutes of the lecture ending. Many find it beneficial to watch the lectures from home since you can pause, fast forward, rewind, etc. But, what people love the most about watching online is that you can change the speed. If I watch one on line, I usually watch it at 1.8-2x. However, I usually go to lecture (otherwise I'd sleep til noon everyday).
 
some people are posting online statuses of:
"a final decision has been made..." and others are saying "a final decision has been reached..."

what is the exact wording of the status for people who received acceptances?

It's actually pretty common across all schools, since recordings are provided. You do what works for you, and with the time crunch, staying home and double-speeding works for many med students.

1. Drexel does give out merit scholarships. You're probably going to have a lot of loans no matter where you go unless you stay at your state school, and even those are getting expensive.

2. There are research opportunities here, but if there's nothing you're particularly interested in at Drexel, there are tons of other med schools in the area. You can get funding from Drexel if your project is here - don't know how competitive the application process is - but there's also other funding options available if you're interested in certain specialties via professional groups.

3. Time to study for STEP 1 depends on your curriculum. We were told about 10 weeks for PIL and 6-8 for IFM. Don't worry about STEP 1 too much right now - it seems like a lot of schools have around 6-8 weeks and that that's usually enough. If you're focused on competitive specialties like ENT, you might want to consider the structure of clinical years and if you can maximize your exposure/build good relationships in the specialty you're aiming for.

Nope, and I'm a PA resident too (though not near Philly). From what I've gathered reading others' posts, seems like the mail takes 7-10 days from the decision status. Here's to an anxious Friday:xf:

PS my final paper that's due tomorrow is probably not going to get finished now.

Received acceptance letter today. I interviewed on 10/17 and my "final decision" status appeared last Friday (12/09).

Does anyone happen to have information about merit-based scholarships offered by Drexel? I think this school is great, but the high tuition rate really puts a damper on things.

After three weeks of "with the committee" status, I finally received the final decision status. My heart jumped a little. I am so worried it's a rejection.

Congrats!

Unfortunately (unless you have a special situation) the merit scholarships typically only ranged from $1k-$3k per year. Not really much at all considering when you factor in cost of living you'll probably take out close to $70k per year.

Also to be eligible for those small scholarships you need to meet some criteria (ie >$25k in educational debt already, parents must make <$250k or $400k I forget the exact number - you can call and ask).

I don't think there's any harm in calling. I've been waiting for your acceptance on here too!
 
Finally, a decision. Rejected. Not too entirely surprised by this as Drexel was not one of my better interviews. Anyway, best of luck to those who will be attending, and for those still waiting for an answer!

Does Drexel offer funding for it's students to do research? Particularly, if it's not on campus, but at another institution?

I'm looking to commute to drexel. whats a good neighbhrhood with houses (not apts) thats quiet, and suburban?

Anyone else think that they'll pursue the PIL curriculum if they matriculate? I think that is the route I am more interested in

I need to learn more about it too, but in short I guess the responsibility it would put on me to be prepared for group discussions. I also have an ego, so I wouldn't want to be in a room of people and not be the one to know something, so it would force me to study and study actively haha

thanks for responding! I am looking to drive. Is there a parking lot for students on campus??

If you know good neighborhood that has public transportation, that would be great too, as i'm concerned it will snow, and the roads won't be drivable. so it's good to have a backup case.

Maybe my max price range will be 900-1000? Is this too low? I'm not from Philly or pennsylvania, so im not too aware of cost-of living and geography.
