Yeah, I'm trying to convince my self these last classes are going to hopefully make me a better doctor, even if the only thing I learn is how to do something I really don't want to do. Also, the acceptance letter talks about how we need to keep our grades up. I don't know how they enforce that, but it scares me enough to keep working hard.

Haha yeah. I want to defer the pains of biochem right now, but it'll come back to bite me again next year I bet!

On another note, maybe I can finally register for that flower arrangment course I've been interested in! :meanie:

Time for me to try and unconvinced you, sort of. In my valiant (and successful) effort to have a killer senior year I barely passed two classes (took them pass/fail). One of which was genetics. I am doing just fine my first year and BELIEVE ME I was rested once school started. This was very important to me considering since I only had a 1.5 months b/t undergrad and med school.

During this time I called admissions a few times (using different phones and tones of voice ) about how far I could "push it" in terms of my senior grades. Essentially, don't fail anything and make sure you graduate. They couldn't care less otherwise, especially with classes outside your major.

That being said if slacking a bit will stress you out study to your heart's content. Just make sure you are ready to kick it into high gear come August!

Anybody else out there that didn't receive a call? I'm checking my mailbox neurotically to see what the verdict is!:scared:

Oh, and I can't remember what we were told on interview day...can we call and ask if we were accepted?

When did you interview rmnanon? I know that they told our interview group we wouldn't hear anything until 11/14, but that was last week. I'm guessing they meet every other Monday.

I was told my app would be reviewed on 10/31.

The tough part is that there doesn't really seem to be consistency with regards to who they call. I would just try to relax (easier said than done). I don't think I would call them until early next week. From what I understand, they sent out decisions Tuesday AM, so you should get something in the mail by the weekend.

For people that got/had their interview, what did your Status change to?

I called and asked- but they wouldn't tell me.

I love Loyola- I just wanted to know so that I could cancel an interview trip I don't want to pay for. Looks like I'll have to go now since the tix etc. had to be bought.

It would be ironic if I am accepted at this next interview-school and end up attending a different school all because no one would tell me!

Regardless, no news is good news- I was told no phone call doesn't mean a thing. Crazy.

Yeah it's definitely tough waiting. Oh well. Hoping for good news for all of us!

On the bright side, we all have until May 15 to make our final decisions!

It's still status feedback not yet defined!!!! even if you get accepted. Heh, I wonder why they're yelling at us.

Has anyone talked to the medical school about what the next steps are after acceptance or are there any current students that could shed some light on what usually happens next? For example, when do we receive financial aid info? or Is there any kind of "Official Registration" stuff we will do in the coming months? or When do receive our student email addresses or passwords to things? I know it's really soon for all of this stuff, but I want to know what I should be keeping an eye out for.

I live in the Chicago area and I got the acceptance letter today! I'm going to mail out my intent to enroll tomorrow!!!

i got the acceptance letter on thursday, I live in the same county about two towns over from Loyola though. Its dated Nov 1...

I was interviewed on Sept 27th. No phone call or no letter. Does it mean I was waitlisted or deferred?

They told me that we would be contacted sometime after the first of the year about financial aid. I'm ready to get the ball rolling too 😛.

Current M1 here. Congrats on the acceptance.

At some point you'll get an acceptance letter with a "reserve a spot" card. I truly can't remember if the reservation card came with the acceptance letter or shortly thereafter. Send that back in and hang tight for a while...at least until after the new year. Financial Aid will send out some stuff in a few months telling you about certain documents that will be due sometime in early Spring. You won't get an e-mail or any of that sort of thing until Orientation next July. PM me if you have any questions! I'll try and check this thread every now and then.

Best of luck.

Steve, does this mean you'll be going here or are you still shopping around?

Can anyone current students comment on how they like the curriculum at Loyola? I think I would really like the whole one science class at a time thing! I can't think of another medical school with this type of curriculum.

can someone who has access to the interview schedule (if it's online) tell me if there are any open spots for interviews between Nov 22 and 29? I want to send an "in the are" email but if there's no open days during then, then I see no point. and I don't want to have to wait till thursday for when they actually answer their phones....thanks!

MynameisMike, I am a current first year at Loyola and I really like the block schedule. In undergrad, I was accustomed to having lots of classes a day and test weeks during different times of the semester. But I feel like our schedule is really set up to help you succeed. Except for PCM-1, we only have to focus on Anatomy right now which is a handful. We have one test about every 2 1/2 (3 ish) weeks for our main block class. We get a lot of information at one time, but it easier to process it when you only have to focus on one science class at a time. However, they add Host Defense at the end of 1st year as a second science class with Physiology to prepare us for 2nd year where we have two science classes for most of that year.

I really like this post!!!!!🙂🙂

My file status just changed to complete this week.

Does anyone have a timeline of how long after their file was complete they they received an interview?

It took about 8 weeks after my file was complete to receive an interview. I think its normally around 6-8 weeks after your file is completed and then 2-3 weeks after your interview on a decision

I've been under review with no updates since I submitted at the end of August. Hopefully they get to it soon!

I feel your pain too. Been complete since 8/23 and nothing. Thinking thats a bad sign but still trying to hold hope.

I'm not sure what to think about it because I think they have already started rejecting people via the status page, so if we were on the chopping block I feel like they would have updated it already or just put us on the "we have reviewed your application, but..." status that seems like the pre rejection hold.

Hey all. Was wondering if it would still be worth it completing a secondary for Loyola? For some reason my email account sent it to the spam folder, and I had been too caught up with applications and interviews to realize I hadn't heard anything from Loyola! Anyways, I know it's late, but I see Loyola interviews into April and just figured I'd ask if it's worth it.

Well, I submitted back in 21 of September and the admissions office said I was in the middle of the pack, so I would guess it's pretty late right now. If you have a burning desire to apply, go for it, otherwise, save the 70 bucks or w/e it is and plan for the next cycle if necessary.

With that MCAT I'd say go for it. However, if you are already holding an acceptance at a school you consider equal or greater then I would hold off.

Anyone else nervous/anxious about possibly receiving the phone call tomorrow?!

Anyone else nervous/anxious about possibly receiving the phone call tomorrow?!

I've decided that I'm going to try my best to not worry about it. I've heard too many stories of people getting accepted without a phone call or getting a phone call on a different day. It seems too random as far as whether or not an accepted applicant gets a phone call or not.

I'm just planning on being anxious for every phone call between tomorrow and Thursday.

Congrats on the acceptance. All of the newly accpted please join the Loyola Stritch Class of 2016 on FB. We only have a few members so far. Congrats to everyone!
