How do you even tell if you're on hold?

I haven't heard of pre-interview rejections btw...

Status page will say that your file has been reviewed instead of being under review. 🙂 This is the hold status. It's what mine just changed to last week. 🙁

I would think that having a time traveler would be a unique addition to the class of 2016.

HAHAHAHA!! yea November 7th. That was a bad typo. If I were capable of time travel I would have gone to March or April when this whole process will be over with😀😀😀

How important is the jesuit tradition to Loyola?

My roomie's fiancee is an M1 there, and I believe not very. (I'm assuming you're asking how Catholic is it, sorry if I misunderstood your question)

He's strongly Catholic and wishes it was more so.

I've interviewed at SLU, another Jesuit school and they emphasized that they are into creating well-rounded physicians that treat their patients with respect (which is the Jesuit idea of medicine), but not necessarily Catholic or even Christian. My tour guide was Hindu and said she liked to hang out with the chaplain just for fun and to relax and found it totally welcoming.

Yeah thats kinda what i had in mind. Thanks!!

Did anyone get any confirmation from Loyola after signing/sending the acceptance letter? Might just be neurotic, but I hope mine didn't get lost in the mail :scared:

I had to call them- give it a shot next week.

How important is the jesuit tradition to Loyola?
The values of the Jesuit tradition are very important to Loyola, but they do not push Catholicism on their students. I am not Catholic and I completely respect the values of the Jesuits like "treating the human spirit". I feel that most people in my class feel the same way. We have very strong Catholics in my class, but we also have Atheists and I feel they all agree that Loyola doesn't push the Jesuit belief on its students.

Oh okay! Thats one of the characteristics of Loyola which I admire. Thanks

I submitted my secondary on 10/7 as well but was complete like on 11/19...is there a reason for the discrepancy as in does this mean i will most likely be on hold?

i was complete 8/31..... and i'm still under initial review...

for those of you in the same boat as me... did you guys call? or you just waiting it out?

seems like most people complete in august have been placed on re-review status or granted interviews...just want to make sure i'm not being dumb about this process

thanks!

They offered Jan 11 and then the 14th which is a Saturday and more convenient (since I'm a teacher weekdays are pretty difficult to miss).

I'm super excited, last time I applied (2008) Loyola gave me a silent rejection, so this is a nice change.

I completed it sometime in August and just received an interview invite today! I didn't call, just waited it out. I'm going to interview on Jan. 14 (they also offered Jan. 11)!

Also, for what it is worth, IS (downstate); 31 MCAT; 3.5ish GPA

Congrats!!! Did you get the invite through phone or e-mail? This gives me hope. I submitted my secondary in August, but was not complete until September. I am IS and have similar stats. :xf:

Were you placed on the rereview pile at all?

I don't think so. My status has said "We have received all required information and your file is under review with the Committee on Admissions" since September.

They called and left a message! (I was in class so I couldn't answer) They also e-mailed right away, too! I had to set the interview date by phone!

I wasn't put on a re-review pile. This was the first I have heard back from Loyola since my application was fully completed!

Has anyone contacted admissions vie email?

I emailed them from the address that is listed on the status page under the phone number and was curious if they read these emails and respond to them.

Any body have any experience or advice???

My status says my application is complete and pending further review. I just called Loyola and they said I was reviewed once and will be re-reviewed after Jan 1st. Is this basically the same chances as being on hold?

From the description it sounds like you are on hold, but there have been a fair number of people given interviews and accepted from this category in the past.

congrats!

this makes me worried about my app though 🙁

Interviewed on 12/2/2011. School was absolutely fabulous with tremendous facilities. Students and faculty were invited. I hope I get in because I would definitely go.

They still haven't reviewed my file according to the website. Complete Aug 31. Is anyone else in the same position?

Anybody interview here recently? Was the admissions committee supposed to meet this week? Anybody get a call/waiting for a call??

Interview set for next week, 12/14! Any tips or advice for the interviews at Loyola...and the weather! haha I'm a Californian, and I'm assuming I will freeze my behind off whilst there. 😀

Do you mind sharing your stats please? I have been complete since Aug and waiting to hear back. Thanks much.

Be genuine. Loyola's not a top 10 research school and can really see through the "fake" answers. Loyola wants genuine, honest, compassionate, service oriented people. You'll meet the dean of admissions; take what he says to heart.
Be yourself. Everyone I met in the admissions office was completely down to earth and genuine in their conversations. Don't try to BS them 😉.

Best of luck!!
(p.s. don't worry about any interview stress, both of mine and everyone else I've talked to were completely stress free and completely low key conversations.)

Thanks for the advice! Good luck to you!

so anxious....the interview day definitely made me fall in love with this school...

I submitted my secondary 9/4. I will be leaving the country in March which is stated in one of my secondary application essays. Do you think I should call or e-mail them to tell them this information again? If so, when should I do it considering their interview invites are now for mid january.

Has anyone that has interviewed somewhat recently heard back? I interviewed late November and could have sworn they said the committee was meeting on Monday, but no news. I guess I'm waiting for a letter at this point.

When I interviewed multiple people told me they would meet on December 12th and I have not heard anything.

Had an amazing interview experience at Loyola on Wednesday. I'd be honored to go there! Good luck to everyone :0)

I was accepted today and this was one of my top choices!! I haven't received the package yet, but my interviewer actually informed me via email.

Is there a group of Facebook for people who have been accepted?
😍

What's up everyone!?!?

Just got done with my first semester at Stritch and I just wanted to stop by and wish everyone good luck with your applications!! I hope ya'll consider Loyola, this is a great place to start your Medical Education. Plus, have have you seen our gym!?! How can you pass that up?!? lol

If ya'll have any questions, search out for those of us current students still active on SDN and ask away. We're all here to help each other reach the same goal! Good luck!
