Well you dun goofed!!!!111!one!

Nah, if length was a huge concern, they'd have put word or character limits into the fields.

I wrote 25 lines using size 4 font.

on the last q, is that only a place to "update" or can it also be a place to add "anything else you feel we should know"?

also, is the only way to do this to copy/paste form a Word file (using Donnie's 19 line rule) and then see if it fits on the preview/then adjust from there?

Did anyone else have issues with submitting the Loyola secondary? I input the essays and click "save and continue" but then nothing happens.

So I finalized and submitted my secondary. When you finalized, did it just show a preview of your application?

Yes, and it confused me. However, when I checked my status afterwards, it stated that I have submitted the secondary.

Question:

Approximately how many 12 point font, 1 inch margin, Times New Roman lines in Microsoft Word (haha, I know this is ridiculous) should we write for each question.

Seriously, I would really appreciate an estimate. Thanks guys.

1600 - 1950 characters. Most of my answers were near or at 30 lines.

Does loyola do a screen for who they send secondaries to? I was verified over month ago and I haven't heard anything.. anyone else in the same boat?

Word has it that they screen out MCATs below a 24.

Just submitted. By the way, if anyone is interested. I went through the appeals process for the letters of recommendation. I am a non-traditional student and have been out of my original undergraduate institution for over 5 years. I e-mailed (per their instructions) yesterday and received a positive reply today. Not a big deal at all. Thought it would delay everything but no problem.

I was verified on July 22nd and received a secondary today. I only have a 29 on my MCAT too so apparently they liked something else. Anyone have any guesses on their screening process?

No, probably not. They send the secondary to everyone that doesn't have a 4 in VR or a GPA in the 1s.

Did anyone call and figure out if we should type in all the names of our recommenders if they are coming in one letter packet assembled by the school?

Shoot for ~19 MS word lines. Thats how long my longest essay is in Word, but I don't remember if that hit 25 or 30 lines in the secondary (once you submit, you can't see it anymore). The fields for the secondary are smaller than Word fields though.

We might have different settings, as 25 lines in MS word = 25 lines on the secondary = 25 lines in plain text editor.

Submitted. 😱

Same, 25 lines on Word were also 25 lines on the secondary text boxes.

Guys,

It doesn't matter. They aren't going to sit there and count how many lines you wrote.

Agreed. All my essays approached the maximum and I thought the length restrictions were perfect.

ok, well since i haven't done mine yet. was the 19 lines in MS words at 1.5" margins?

I've come across some anal-retentive advisors in my heyday so I wouldn't put it past someone to actually sit there and count.

At the same time, I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

My AMCAS was verified 6/21 and I haven't received a secondary here either. 33 MCAT/ 2.81 Undergrad / 3.84 Grad. I received a secondary last year so i'm hoping they haven't raised their screening standards.

Submitted.

The # of lines on the preview of your application is considerably less than the number of lines you use when you paste your essay into the box. Not sure if that has been said yet.

Am I the only one who haven't received a secondary?

🙁

Did I get screened out? Should I call them & ask?

3.97 GPA 28 MCAT (11PS/ 7 V/ 10 BS)

I saw last year's thread and first invite came out 7/30. Wondering if they'll start early this year too :luck:

When were you verified, I had a 3.9 GPA and 28 (7 PS/ 12 VS/ 9 BS) and I received mine on 7/19. I was verified on 6/24. That's a pretty long turn-around so hang in there.

Your GPA is higher than mine and we're MCAT twinsies down to each subsection, so I would wait another week.

Does Loyola accept updated transcripts and/or letters after submitting the secondary? I am waiting on summer grades and can't decide whether or not to submit it now or wait and just send a new transcript when they are ready.

I believe they do, yes, but definitely check to make sure before sending anything as I am not 100% positive.

I just e-mailed them, and they told me that I can e-mail unofficial transcripts to their office at any time throughout the year - in case anyone else was wondering!

Looks like I am submitting tonight then, since my professors are taking their sweet time on posting final grades.

Last year the first interview invites were on 7/30! I wonder how soon they will send them out this year. I LOVE this school!

So is this the common status: "Your file has been reviewed by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail." ?

Sounds like it. Mine still says "We have received all required information and your file is under review with the Committee on Admissions." I submitted on 7/21.

Not me. I'm still at "We have received all required information and your file is under review with the Committee on Admissions."

Crap. That doesn't sound good to me.
Not necessarily. They have completed reviewing you and should've placed you in either interview invite or hold or rejection. They haven't given out any notices, including invites, yet, so you'll have to wait until they start sending out notifications. Baylor is like that too. Lots of SDNers - including me - were reviewed but haven't heard anything from them, and they hand out invites in August

I thought they said they didn't start reviewing until September?!

Plus Donnie I think it only sounds like you were one of the very first ppl, imo.

Nah, I was in about the same time as xATB. It could be a good sign, mean nothing, or, as a reapp, I could have just been thrown into the "not improved enough" pile.

Just thinking aloud of course, I'm well aware that it's another "sit and wait" time of the cycle.

haha what? There's nothing in that status that indicates it doesn't sound good. It sounds exactly like what it says, that you submitted early and have been reviewed.

Yeah, you're the only one who got the status on SDN, so no one knows if it's good or bad. I'm still under review myself.

Anyone worried about the Word-to-app line conversion:

Format your paragraphs to size 10 Courier font, and set the paragraphs to be 6.125" wide. Your text should now appear the same in both places.

I have this same status.

Don't sweat it. If it ends up being a rejection, just be glad the bandage was pulled off quickly. Last year I sat in "under review" limbo until March I think.
