I have a question.

I'm a non-trad applying to Stritch and they say on the website that they require 3 undergraduate LORs. I haven't been in undergrad since 2004. I don't think half my professors are even at that institution anymore although I would have to check.

I'm going to call them tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me.

I sure am, I called and they said to note it in the "letters of recommendation" portion of the secondary. That was difficult to do, since there is not really a place for noting it. I ended up cramming a note in the line for "undergrad LOR." I'd still call and get the go ahead though.

Also, congrats to all who've gotten invites! I'm still waiting to go 'under review.' I submitted a couple of weeks ago.

So, I found this on the Stritch website. I thought it was useful answering a lot of my questions about the school. The MS1 FAQ is really helpful as it talks about where students live and a whole bunch of other things. The MS2 FAQ focuses on how Stritch prepares students for Step 1. It is directed at current student, but its pretty helpful for those of us looking at potentially attending Stritch.

Awesome, thanks TM! Just wondering, is anyone interviewing the 30th? It's a bit funny but when I mentioned SDN to my past interview groups, it has been met with quite a bit of disdain

This thread has been eerily quiet for the past couple of days.

Come on Loyola show us some love! 🙂

Intive 🙂🙂 scheduled it for the day after a different interview 5 hours away. Hope im not too interview hung over

Lol I actually inferred your interview based off the distance. I live 3 minutes away from your other interview. Feel free to contact me if you need advice on anything St. Louis. You are free to crash at my place, but I would not recommend this if you are allergic to animals or afraid of dogs. I recommend Pi pizza and Schlafly beer for your visit. Best of luck! :luck:

How much time does it take between secondary submission and the completion email?

How much time does it take between secondary submission and the completion email?

I never got a complete email, I assumed I was complete because my status says I'm under review. Did anyone get a complete email?

I have been under review for quite some time. Anyone else on the same boat?

Hopefully it's a good thing :luck:

this is what it says for me. I don't know if its a good sign or a bad sign.

Your file has been reviewed by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail.

I think that means you were put on hold. I got the same message as well.

Sigh. I guess its better than a rejection.

It definitely isn't a death sentence. I have seen many people get in after receiving this message. The only downside is that you will probably have to wait to interview until winter. I am experiencing a terrible conundrum right now. I have been under review for almost two months, and I still have not heard anything. I understand good news tends to be delivered by phone, and my phone suddenly died and is not charging. This is bad for several reasons, but if I were to get good news, I do not know how I would obtain it. 😕 Anyway, according to my status I am still stuck in limbo, so I guess it does not matter right now.

Can you get a new phone?

I'm sure if they can't reach you by phone they would contact you via e-mail.

Actually yahoo answers just saved me. Apparently this is a weird glitch in iPhone technology. I guess the trick is to restart the iPhone and plug it in after the red battery disappears, and you repeat this as many time as necessary until it works. Very odd, but I have not received any messages, so I guess I am still in limbo 🙁.
I will hope no news is good news for now.

I don't mind interviewing in the winter. Heck I wouldn't mind interviewing in next April. The point is getting in somewhere. Wouldn't they email you as well? My cell phone's reception is sketchy at best and I am sure they wouldn't jade us with just a single phone call and no other contact.

I'm guessing with the frequency that I check my status I would catch it pretty quickly lol, but it is all good; My phone is working again. It seems like Loyola really does consider the people it puts on hold, but they tend to come back into the running later in the race. I think Loyola keeps spots open up until the last interview day (i.e. They do not interview just to put you on the wait list). But anyway, the best thing you can do now is not worry about it until you get put back into review (I imagine they do this late November or December?) That is just an educated guess, so take it with a grain of salt. The important thing is that you have not been rejected.

Me too! Submitted around when you did.

Hey, I was complete on August 12th if that helps at all. They kept us around this long, so let us hope that we hear some good news soon. 🙂

Thank you! I feel incredibly honored to have been considered positively at so many schools. Best of luck to you (and everyone else!) too!

I've been under review since late July. I wonder if they put invitations for southerners off til it's really really cold, so you know what you're getting into 🙄

This is plausible. Chicago weather is unbearably cold for some of my friends. I like it up until February. Spring comes really late. It is not unusual to get snow in April. Our politicians are corrupt, and the cost of living is really high. Did I mention we have a 10.25% sales tax? That being said I absolutely love the city. It has a lot of character, and there is always something fun to do. I do not think it can be compared to much in the south. It is more of New York's little brother (or bastard cousin). Like any other city it has pro's and con's, but I would say the environment as a whole is worth all of the negative aspects of the city.

I'm not worried about it, I was there in february last year. It does have a lot of character, that's most of why I applied here.
O ye yai, I want an interview invite!

Rejected through status page check. Good luck everyone else!

I would love one also 🙂 My adviser was enough of a D-Bag to not send my rec letter hence I was complete 8/12 instead of 7/25. Sigh.....I know it really doesn't make a huge difference in odds, but maybe I would know something by now. My adviser isn't really a d-bag either he just takes on too much work for one person to handle. I'm just bitter because I want an invite right meow

This. I'm in Africa right now with limited phone access and they sent me an email with interview information after they called my alternate number and couldn't get a hold of me.

What 😱 When were you complete?

Good :luck: to your other schools souljah!

Thanks I was complete 08/07, this makes sense though my stats weren't all that. I really don't sweat rejections

Now status changed to "pending further review by the Committee." My app was complete on 09/15, so at least they haven't said no already. 🙂 Does this status basically mean I'm on hold for a long while??

Now status changed to "pending further review by the Committee." So this means I'm on hold, right?

Ahhh no? it just means you're pending further review by the committee. How is that even hard to understand?

Looking back at my posts, submitted 8/11 or 8/07, under review 8/19.

It's been a while!

You're good if you haven't been rejected so far lol they laid the smack down on me

is anyone who interviewed early here thinking of calling them next week? at my interview the admissions women said they would make decisions next week and couldn't officially release until the 15th, but if you called she may hint at what the letter would say...

I do not plan on calling them. From what I understand, there is going to be a meeting on Monday to discuss the candidacy of folks who have already had interviews. I'm not sure how it all works, but I would assume if they are unable to officially release the information until the 15th they also cannot give that information over the phone. I also don't want to be known as "That Guy" in the admissions office.

If I were to get an acceptance. Does anyone know what we should expect in an acceptance letter? I know Loyola has on online forum for incoming students. Do we get that info or info on financial aid?

Well, if the admissions woman said you could and they would give you a hint, I say go for it.

Hey everyone! I would advise you DO NOT call the admin office. The powers that be at the AAMC forbid medical schools to release the admissions statuses for interviewees before October 15th. Since the 15th is during the weekend then they will mail letters on the next business day.

If and when you get accepted/wait listed you will definitely get a letter in the mail. Depending on where you live this could take up to a week or longer after the 15th. For those that are accepted if the office has time they will give you a ring (keep an eye out for that 708 area code!) I got my call in class, ha. Sometimes interviewers will tell interviewees the date of that call. I personally received my call before my letter. I did interview after October 15th though.

As for that online forum class of 2015 didn't get one until we enrolled. '14 did though... I would suggest you early acceptances make a FB group or something just in case they do not make the forum available again this year

So...are they all done giving out interviews at this point?

Haha, maybe that is true! I am from the south and I interviewed in the dead of winter at the end of January. And one of my classmates (also from the south) interviewed a couple of days after the CRAZY thundersnow storm they had last winter.

Absolutely not, they will be interview into at least March maybe even April. And Loyola cuts a good amount of applicants pre-interview. So, this would account for all the early rejections. Best of luck everyone! :luck:

I hope so. I'm from Texas and hoping for an interview.

I am stuck on the "has been reviewed" status though.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but I found this on youtube today. Thought I'd share! 🙂

"The Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing broke ground in spring 2011 on a new $26 million building where student nurses will learn alongside medical students from the Stritch School of Medicine...The Center for Collaborative Learning, which will connect the nursing school to Stritch School of Medicine, will include a clinical simulation area with a six-bed virtual hospital where nursing and medical students will learn together using their clinical skills in a controlled environment."

This looks really awesome and looks like it opens in the fall of 2012! Do any current medical students know how this is going to change/improve upon how the students learn at Stritch?
