Wanting/being obsessive over something does not mean I'll get it. Sadly, else I could reach an entirely new level of neuroticism the likes of which you've never seen. But I do appreciate the sentiment, and definitely agree that the numbers are not very favorable.

They did - Unfortunately, but oh well. Now at least they owe me an acceptance for making me wait, so it will all work out.

My insider knowledge says that they call around noon CMT on Monday if you're accepted. If you are getting a hold or rejection, you'll hear by email by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Then I realized that with a class of ~40 and only 15-20% of the season's interviewees ranked at this point, they'd be making ten calls tops. 😱

There are rejections the first week. If you look at last year's thread, you'll see that people got a rejected email on the Wednesday after the Monday acceptances. Also, it was confirmed by an email to Gina - acceptances on Monday, holds and rejections Tuesday and Wednesday.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone. I am excited and very nervous. All my friends and family know Monday is the big day. Now I am wishing I kept that information from them. The truth is the quality of physicians we become is dependent on ourselves, not necessarily the medical school, but it is difficult to remember that when thinking about all of Mayo's amazing qualities.

That is what I would have to guess too - I think my faculty interviewer was literally blown away (to a different state)

After the calls to acceptees are made, emails will also go out to them. Gina has previously said that they want to individually tell the accepted students the good news, and then send them emails. But if they can't get in touch with you/leave a message, then you will still get the email later that day.



And from what I heard, it is around ~7ish people that hear. Could be more, could be less; point is, if you don't hear - it is not over!

Well, if they interview the max of 340 applicants, and they accept the minimum of 42 students, that comes out to about 1 in 9. My interview date had 14 people (I heard that some are only 10-12 though). Also, this is the absolute minimum. They usually end up accepting about 70ish (when you count the people off the wait list) so it's more like 1 in 5-6. So probably about 2ish from each interview group. And we can always hope they interview closer to 300. Still poor odds buuut, it's twice that originally calculated 🙂 Gotta stay hopeful.

You will not be ranked this tuesday - I am 85% sure that there is no meeting this week.

And 9/6? I am going to guess you mean 10/6 or they really skipped over your app or you should check spam

So I remember this weekend last year...dates were a bit different, but basically the same idea--waiting until Monday. And a call never came. Damn.

But--light at the end of the tunnel--I still got in! You are all traveling the country right now, having the time of your lives being treated like champs at your interviews, so go forth and enjoy that. Thanks to raltima07 for that advice...just always keep in mind that it isn't over if you don't get a ring on Monday. Several of my classmates were on the verge of signing leases in other cities to attend other schools when Mayo called, even after interviewing early in the year. And the same goes for students at every other medical school, not just Mayo.

Also keep in mind that you can write a "hey hello" note to the admissions office, interviewers, and others if you feel strongly about something. I personally wouldn't blabber on for too long about how you are anxiously waiting to hear about some abstract being selected for oral presentation, but instead write something that a person who receives 3,000 letters a day might want to read. Do you really understand what makes studying at Mayo Clinic different from being at a major undergraduate-affiliated medical school? Did you read stories about Dr. Will and Dr. Charlie galavanting about the Minnesota corn fields, building a medical Mecca, and proceeding to operate some 4,000 times per year? If you really have something compelling to discuss, let me (or another Mayo'er) know and we'll gladly help review or comment to ensure the point gets across.

Enjoy the weekend and don't fret too much about Monday...instead go out and enjoy the Saturday night!

I meant 10/6 my bad. Why will they not meet this tues? I heard they are last time I talked to Gina last week. They also said at my interview (on friday 10/6) that they would rank us the week after the upcoming tuesday so that would be this tues. And im still not clear, if I get ranked on tues, can i get a call on tues/wed? Or only on "mondays"

If you have already been ranked, do both of your interviewers need to be present at the appointment meeting in order for you to get an offer (so if they aren't there you automatically get a hold email)? Or is that only true for the ranking meetings?

I believe that holds true only for ranking. After that, I do not know, but you do need the ranking before a further decision.
