Hello all, I am quite new here. I interviewed and was accepted in late October, early November. Congratulations to those accepted and to those invited for interviews!

I see a few have asked about there being a group for the class of 2016, I haven't come across one yet and if no one confirms I wouldn't mind getting my feet wet and starting one.

Also, to future interviewees and eager applicants, I would like to share some advice that I believe worked for me on my big day. First, KNOW God; believe that He will see you through the highs and lows that this whole process will take you through, and that He will give you a peace of mind so that your words and thoughts will be clear and in order. Second, KNOW Yourself and be Confident; what is important to you, what makes you laugh or cry, what defines you, why do you see yourself at Meharry? Third, KNOW Meharry; what it stands for, the mission, and again how will you fit in and contribute. With this foundation, practice, confidence, and your true personality, you will do great! Good luck!

Hey buzzyz,

I say go ahead and start one in the Allopathic School threads, I will join you. I was actually going to say the same thing about starting a thread. Are you for sure going to Meharry?

I don't think there is a facebook group yet, but you can join us on the Allopathic Class Threads. There is only 3 of us there so far since it was started today, but the more the merrier.

Any facebook group up for new admits?

For those of you who have been accepted (congrats!), how long after the interview did it take to receive the acceptance email? Also, how long before receiving the acceptance email did you receive an email regarding the background check?

Thanks

Interview 2/3, background chck 2/15, accept 2/29

Well it's been 3 weeks. I interviewed on 2/13 and I haven't head anything, not even the background check. If they are going to waitlist me (which they probably are) I hope it comes soon.

Keep hope alive. Everything will work out and I hope you get the acceptance you are waiting for 🙂.

I interview on 2/13 and have heard nothing so far

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to SDN. I've been lurking for weeks now and finally decided to join🙂 I interviewed on Feb. 27th. Anyone else interview that day and receive news? I was given the same response as nnamdizzle8🙁 I pray that my Heavenly Father turns this frown upside down. I loved Meharry....

Keep praying, but you may also want to tell the school admins you love it if you truly want to go.

Thanks Tantacles🙂 I did send a letter of continued interest yesterday (no response though). I think I may call sometime next week to make sure they received it and know that i want to be in the 2012 entering class!!!:annoyed:

Hey everyone. I interviewed on February 20th and yesterday I received a request for a criminal background check. I have only interviewed at Meharry and two other schools so I'm not 100% sure if that means I am accepted to Meharry. From what I've read on here, it seems like everyone receives the request for the CBC about a week before they are accepted so I'm assuming it's from Meharry.

I completed the CBC immediately, so I'm hoping I will hear back soon with regards to what school requested that I complete one. I know all you guys are anxiously waiting so I just thought this information might be helpful. Good luck everybody!

welcome to the Meharry forum insanelyposh. I really hope you hear some good news from Meharry. Don't lose hope, I am sure everything will work out the way it is suppose to. 🙂

Hey jdmd,
well getting the CBC means you have an acceptance at one of the 3 schools you have interviewed so far, so Congratulations.

Cool!! Well thanks for the info!!! I was hoping that's what it meant....I guess I'll just have to wait and see which school it is. I'm guessing it's Meharry. I wish the rest of you the best of luck. I know how stressful this process can be, as this is my third attempt to get in. I sincerely pray that each of you will be accepted somewhere this year. But if not, then keep trying and don't give up. Don't ever let someone try to talk you out of your dream. If I can be of service to anyone please feel free to contact me anytime. I will continue to check the boards regularly!!

Well good job on persevering and not giving up!!!!

Thanks Paaakwasi!! I too have had a loooonnnggg journey to achieving my dream of becoming a physician so I'm still praying and standing on the promises of the Lord that 2012 is my year of manifestation!! :xf:

Amen!! I hope your dreams come true🙂.

I just got the CBC email, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. Hopefully, I'll get an acceptance email soon. :scared:

Interviewing tomorrow! I'm excited but also extremely nervous. From what I've seen the turnaround has been relatively quick, as in a few weeks. Keep me in your prayers and good luck to everyone!

Good luck with your interview Vicque :xf::xf::luck::luck:. Don't be too nervous. Do your best and everything else will work out.

Thank you so much, Paaakwasi. I really appreciate it. I just can't wait until I get that official acceptance, though. I want to celebrate and have that enormous weight off of my shoulders.

I am asking this question hoping there are some current Meharry students who frequent this thread, in regards to housing, where would you guys recommend for students with/without a car?

Does anybody know when the last interview date for Meharry is? More importantly, does anyone know when Meharry will begin to dip into their waiting list. I got waitlisted after I interviewed in December and I am literally dying here. Anybody with insight here would be great.

I called and spoke with Mr. Mosely last week. He said the last day of interviews is 3/26 and that the wait list has not been touched and is currently listed alphabetically with no ranking. After the last set of interviews, the wait list should start moving......(We hope)

Thank you very much. Feel a little better 🙂

I guess Post-bac candidates are going to have to wait mid to late April for interviews! :scared:

I don't think the current students frequent this thread as much. Try PMing Miss Alyssa or OccupytheED.

Thanks. I will try PMing them. I know many students stay off-campus, that just left me wondering what is wrong with on-campus housing. All the other schools I have interviewed at have most students staying on-campus. 😕

So i guess there's little hope for those on pre interview hold at this point.

I don't think there is anything wrong with on campus housing. I have read some of the older Meharry threads and it seems as if sometimes there is waitlist for on campus housing. Also, I think a lot of people feel too old to be staying on campus in medical school like they did in undergrad. Plus some of the off- campus apartments are really close, so why not?, you know.

Hey SilentSoldier,
I am not sure about that. Why don't you call the admissions office and ask? Hope you get some good news 🙂.

I'm in!!! I just got my acceptance letter. To say that I am on cloud nine would be the understatement of the year. I feel as though I am dreaming.

-To all the rest of you that have been accepted, congratulations. I look forward to meeting all of you and forming great, life-long friendships.

-To the people on the wait list, keep your chin up and try to stay positive. Every single second is a second that you might get that email or call.

-Most importantly, to the people who don't get in - stay positive and try to persevere. Do not, under any circumstances, give up - ever. I know EXACTLY what you are feeling. I have applied here for the last three or four years without ever even getting so much as an interview. Each time, I felt more and more defeated. I felt like a failure. My friends and some members of my family all tried to tell me to give up. "Just go to nursing/podiatry/optometry/law school." I heard it all. Don't get me wrong: I have nothing but respect for those professions; it's just not what I wanted to do and I knew that I would never be happy if I went down any of those paths. I let my defeats motivate me and I worked harder and harder until there was no way that they could deny me. I had the door slammed in my face so many times that I got angry enough to just kick it open. That is what you all have to do. When you re-apply, give them no other option but to accept you. As a person who has been rejected many times before, as I type this with tears literally in my eyes and running down my face, I can tell you that the rejections of the past don't sting quite as much in the present when you're holding an acceptance letter in your hand and looking toward the future. Don't be afraid to send me a private message if you just need to vent or whatever because believe me, I have been there.

-To everyone: just keep God first, believe in yourself and your dreams, and you will get to where you want to go.

I am not sure if I will be able to get my car from California so I am sort of looking for housing close to school from where I can easily commute. I havent made up my mind yet about on or off campus housing, but I am leaning towards on campus for the first 2 years then off campus for the last 2. I did not know there was a waitlist, I better get on that application asap.

Conrats donny, a very moving story indeed. See you in class 🙂

Yes, i think you should get the housing application in asap. I hope you get on campus housing. Driving from California to Tennesse will be too long lol.
