We find out decisions tonight or tomorrow morning correct?

they said within 48 hours, so by sometime on friday. today would be wonderfullll. wonder what time of day they meet... *attempt at patience*

The adcom usually meets in the early afternoon-ish. I got my call last year around 6pm, but there were some people who didn't get their calls until the next day or so. It all depends on what your adcom member prefers.

How many meetings have they had since early decision ended? If this is the first one, I imagine they have quite a number of applicants to discuss tonight.

Good luck to those awaiting news.

I thought that there would be more action tonight...hopefully we hear some good news tomorrow

Yea that's what I'm hoping for; hope to hear from everyone tomorrow!

i wondering what's going on; has anyone asked the admission committee if they have started calling people this morning?

It seems like individual committee members/interviewers make calls on their own time so it could be anytime within the next two days. nerve wracking!

Just dropping a line to encourage you guys to be patient. I waited two and a half days before I knew. I found out when I received the background check authorization request email.

I think they actually forgot to call me in the first place, and it wasn't until I left a message with the student affairs admin that I got three phonecalls to let me know. By then, I was deep in my pity party, halfway through a pint of ice-cream, and adding schools to my AMCAS. 😛

Good luck guys!

Has anyone called to see if they have made all the calls?/ has anyone else gotten a call?

I just called the macon office and she said that if you haven't gotten a call yet then you haven't been offered an acceptance this month. but your file will be rolled over to next month's adcom meeting and it will be looked at again.

Any idea when the next meeting is?

Devastating news...

They meet the 3rd wednesday of every month so the 21st unless the push it up because of the holiday. So does anyone know how often the will accept people if they aren't initially accepted? Or do most just end up waitlisted.

I'm trying to muster some hope for future committee meetings.

I hope the meeting gets moved back a little. I'm in the same boat with you, it's hard not to be really disappointed right now, but here's hoping for the best Christmas gift ever! This feeling sucks though.

I know it's tough (I was wait listed before getting in ED this year) but hang in there guys. For some reason it seems that the process is moving kind of slow this year (could be due to Dr. Vinson no longer being with the School of Medicine) and that a lot of people aren't getting in. Can't explain that, but keep doing what you are doing and eventually it will work out.

It is definitely; i was "rolled over" form early decision and was really hoping on this month's committee meeting. It's nice to know that God is still sovereign though.

bah, i was so so hoping to get a good answer here so i could at least stop worrying about actually getting into a school. alas, the waiting continues...endlessly.

congrats, though, to those who received acceptances this week!

Congratulations to all the November acceptees! Hope I'll get to meet you next fall!

yay! now the big question... Macon or Savannah?

Hi everyone! Before I ask my question, I have to explain my situation as its a bit different. This is my second time applying to Mercer - I just got an interview invite!

I graduated with an undergrad in Bio from a pretty demanding college. My GPA is a 3.4 (though my GPA which pretty much consists of science and chem classes for the last 2 years of my undergrad is a 3.8 - I messed up my first 2 years..). I took the MCAT 2 times with my last time being a 27 (8P 9V 10B). I have plenty of shadow and volunteer experiences in hospitals, clinics, lots of leadership while in undergrad. The first time I applied to mercer, I didn't get an interview. I called them and asked what I could improve and they said the MCAT (so I retook it and got the 27 I mentioned above). I wasn't sure if I would get in this cycle so I decided to go to medical school abroad (Moscow, Russia) and I've been studying here for this past semester. I don't plan on asking them for a transfer or anything - I know that's far fetched and I don't mind it. My question is how do you think they'll view my decision to go abroad?

And also what kind of questions do they ask at the interview? Is that allowed to ask on here? If not then don't answer - I just want to get a feel for what to expect...

I have compiled a list of all previous interview questions for Mercer (from here: http://www.studentdoctor.net/schools/school/musm/survey/26 and expand the 'questions' tab) as well as other misc. information regarding Mercer and healthcare in Georgia. Hope you guys interviewing will find it helpful. (See attached)

I'm not sure that telling them you're already enrolled in a medical school abroad is the best idea (assuming you haven't told them already). Medical school's do not like to see any student they are considering accepting drop out of any program to enroll (whether that program is a Master's, PhD, certificate, MPH, or another medical school). Not sure if it's entirely ethical but I wouldn't mention it if I were you...

Hey vrach89, congrats on the interview!

I wanted to ask you when you received your file complete email, just so that I have an idea on when the ADCOM met and decided to give calls! Thanks and good luck 🙂

Do NOT do this. You should definitely disclose ANY university-level work you've done, including transcripts. I believe it's actually required or else your acceptance can be rescinded, if you read AMCAS closely.

Just be honest with your committee interviewer, and ask Dr. House if you have any other questions or concerns. Good luck.

Me? Uhm I think my file's been complete since August...I got my interview email on Monday morning.

I wasn't going to lie to them...I feel like it shouldn't matter that I'm leaving this program because here the system works in a completely different way. They accept students straight out of high school and they accept them in huge numbers with the idea that about half of them will be weeded out (kinda like they do in some colleges in USA) by the end of the first year. So they won't be upset if I leave...In any case, I would imagine it might even be to my benefit as I've already covered/learned the skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory and urinary systems this semester and next semester I think its the nerves and some other stuff not sure what yet...And I've gotten the chance to work in the clinics here! I hope they see this as a positive thing rather than a negative...

Had my interview today! I hope they let us know before Christmas. They said they will meet on the 21st, but they might cancel it until the next time around (January 18th)

You say that your a "medical student" but in another one of your post you say your retaking organic chemistry, then another post you say your considering dentistry...

Your Moscow medical school story is not making sense.

People, use your brains, be skeptical and don't believe every thing you read on here. Lots of people have medical school stories that are flat out made up.

That's strange. I called yesterday and spoke with Ms. Spear from the Macon office. She said that my file would be up for review at the AdCom meeting that they are having tomorrow, and I would hear from them same/next day. I interviewed 11/29.

I just confirmed this. Good luck! :luck:

Anyone else interviewing this Thursday (12/15) in Savannah? I guess we'd be the first batch up for discussion starting at the January AdCom meeting.

Thanks! Going to be a looong day (or two).

I know. I keep staring at my phone, willing it to ring.. even though they probably haven't even convened yet. You'd think that we'd be immune to this whole waiting game by now; we wait for MCAT scores, wait for secondaries, wait for interviews. But I'm BESIDE myself. Haha.

..sorry. There wasn't anything constructive about my post. I'm just venting at this point. 😛

I am watching the phone as well, anybody heard anything yet???

Not yet. And I've given up hope, lol. One of my friends is an MS1, and he had the same AdCom interviewer that I did; he said she likes to make the call in the AM. It's going to be a long, painful night. When did you interview?
