ha, oh man, I have an exam at 9:30 tomorrow morning that i'm definitely not ready for, and I simply can't concentrate...ha, I will also be finding out about another school tomorrow @_@

Good luck with your exam and MSU and your other school!!! I should be finding out about a DO school through snail mail this week, while I'm in Michigan and won't be able to stalk/harass my mail person. I'm also sitting in the library laughing about the 30% snow and high 37 degrees in GR on Thursday when I arrive because I know for a fact I will be miserable.

I am also bringing this to keep warm.

hahaha that's the best.

+1. I wish I didn't know any of those release dates and these information! My interview is on Friday and here I am watching you guys wait and trying to figure which date I might get a call. Day dreaming beats writing a paper about the sources of evil. LOL.

You have an MSU CHM interview on Friday? Weird, we don't usually interview on Fridays and this week interviews are in East Lansing. Unless you have something unique arranged I would double check that interview date!!

Yeah, especially after the "wait list" comment made earlier...makes one get a bit nervous. I guess WL is better than reject though so I'll keep hope alive.

They made a special interview day for GR this week because of Thanksgiving next week - it's a legit interview day

Yep, looks like snow later this week. One thing I've learned about weather in GR though is that it always looks much worse on paper. It's really weird, but weather is very localized here. I've seen an entire week where it literally was forecasted to rain every day, it did, and I didn't see rain once at my house. Weather is different in Michigan than California (where I think you're from), it's much more episodic. I wouldn't expect any significant snow accumulation, and 37 really isn't that cold if you're wearing the right jacket. You'll do great! Good luck on Friday! Remember to relax and let the interviewer get to know you. :luck::luck::luck:

...anyone know anything? Heard of anyone getting calls at all? this is super strange...

WELLLPPP...just got

Oh I'm sorry, I was referring to Acoustic encouraging the wait listers.

Congrats!!! :zip::zip::zip::zip:

The WL is definitely not death at MSU. I know it can be disheartening to think about it when you want an acceptance, but I just meant to encourage those that might get WL'd tomorrow. :luck::luck:

And remember that people might not even hear anything tomorrow, like me last week!!

Thanks guys 🙂

is the a fb group for us?

Thank you! I actually wanted it to get SUPER cold so I could try the "make snow from hot water" trick. Lol

No, there are interviews in GR this friday. I know because I'm interviewing a student again. =)

EDIT - This question was already answered above. Good luck to everyone interviewing on friday and congrats to the newly accepted!

Quick question to you current msu students or those that have experience with this...
I know MSU is not particularly receptive of update letters, but what about post-interview letters of intent? Is that something worth sending or would I be wasting my time?

I don't know what the school's position on them is. It's really going to depend on who gets to read it, and I imagine that in general they'd be most important if WL'd. The thing is that the committee is already going to be busy making a lot of initial decisions and will have a lot of pieces of information to consider, and I can't imagine a letter being effective during then. But the most important thing about applying is that you shouldn't necessarily listen to the advice you get on SDN, asking admissions is always the best bet for things like this, and you should do what you think is best.

What would be nice is some interviewee thank you notes! Haven't received any of those yet. Note that they have absolutely no bearing on your interview score, because scores have to be submitted way before a thank you note would be received (i.e. my interviewees have scores before they even leave the interview day mostly). But remember your interviewers are people too that take a significant amount of time out of their day because they like being a part of the process, thank you notes are appreciated.

Though I couldn't find it just now, there is something on their website saying the only time additional letters (update, LOI) are accepted is after you're placed on the waitlist.

Congrats, SisterDisco. I got the call last night as well and am super excited! I have not found a fb page yet, but will continue to look.

Absolutely yes to letters of interest/intent if you are placed on the alternate list. CHM specifically tells you that they are open to updates once you are wait-listed. If you haven't yet received a post-interview decision then I would hold off.

Well, it looks like I'll be waiting another 3 weeks for the committee to review my file! I'm just glad I wasn't rejected today. 🙂

I agree with what the other students on here have said. Letters of interest are highly recommended if the decision the committee makes is to put you on the waitlist. Grade updates can be issued as well.

To those accepted last night- CONGRATS and welcome if you decide to matriculate here. As always, to those that have not heard anything or have been waitlisted- keep hope. The committee tries to get through AS MANY interviewed applications as they can on review nights. For those interviewing in EL tomorrow- GOOD LUCK! Might see some of you around. Good luck to those in GR on Friday too!

I've been complete for almost 4 months now and not a word...anyone else in the same boat???

Me too! I didn't expect them to get to yours this quickly. The wait sucks, but it's not a rejection 🙂 you got this

Thanks, I can't wait to find out. By the way, I'm pretty sure I've called you sisterdoc a few times now. Sorry. Apparently, I can't read. 😛

Rejected this morning pre-interview, complete mid July.

I was complete in mid-July, and last week finally received an update that I was on pre-interview hold. Better then a rejection.... but let the daily status checks continue!

did you receive an email or status check?

Another q...is there a reason why chm would interview us in GR vs EL? Or just complete randomness? ..

No reason. When they decide to offer you an interview, they will just put you in the next open date.

Okay, anyone that has interviewed at GR could you give a little rundown on how the day went and what to expect.

Thanks!
