Ahhh I'm dying to hear back!! (interviewed late-ish Oct)
Has anyone received an II recently?
Yes, like a day or two ago. I'm trying to decide whether or not to attend and which date to pick. Which is to say, I really like Northwestern, and I'm way excited by the invite, but their financial packages don't seem to stand up to other institutions. What would you guys do if you'd gotten into, say, UMich, Vandy, and Sinai--would you attend NW?
Considering I am in sweatpants, sitting in a study carrel in the basement of a library, eating my roommate's left over birthday cake that I smuggled in...it looks like the pity party is in full swing![]()
Mid-Oct interview here as well.If it makes you guys feel better...I interviewed around the middle of october and didn't hear anything... Is this a consensus established rejection or more neurotic speculation haha? Also, does Northwestern use silent rejections or do they send you an e-mail rejecting you?
Has anyone heard thus far got a rejection? I was afriad/speculating all the accepted/deferred decisions are out, and all the rejections are going to be sent in one batch later on, thus not hearing anything=rejecting, purely conjecture tho, due mostly to the fact no one has posted a rejection. Someone prove me wrong, please...?I think they would notify you of a rejection, deferral or acceptance over email when they have a decision. Others who have received decisions already can confirm this.
FYI, according to US News, they accepted 67% of interviewees for the time period in which that data was collected. This is consistent with what they have said, which is that they accept 50% of interviews. That means there is a decent amount of waitlist movement also. Odds aren't bad compared to other places for those who are interviewing.
Don't lost hope!

Congrats Percy! Around when were you complete?
My best estimate is 2 to 2.5 months, but I haven't really been keeping track.
Still undecided, though. Any more input?
Percy, Do you think you will like the area? It is a wonderful location. They are also changing the curriculum for our year, and I really like the new changes. I was also really impressed by the facilities.
However, it seems like you have had some interviews at some awesome places already (and some acceptances, too), so if northwestern is not your top choice (and it doesnt seems like it is), don't go! If you have a gf with whom you wanna end up with, then I would go, so that you can increase your chances of ending up with her, but that's about the only reason I can think of.
Thanks for the input, you guys! I'm going to do my due diligence and read up a little more on the school before making any decisions. Honestly, I know very little about NW (other than its location, and that it's supposed to be pretty awesome). That said, I did attend another interview with little knowledge/expectations and absolutely loved the school, so you never know, I guess. Don't know that I have a "top choice" (isn't that just a recipe for heartbreak in this process?); just trying to keep an open mind (without going broke, haha). And unfortunately, at this point it looks like my bf and I are going to end up in completely different states/regions, so that's not factoring so much into my decision (for better or worse). Where's a Magic 8 ball when you need one??
hi everyone!
I'm super sorry if someone answered this already but I have not found it yet.
Has anyone sent an *in area email*. I got an interview at U chicago and I'm coming all the way from Vancouver so I'd like to save the $.
If you have any advice?
thanks so much 😳😳
I was really hoping more acceptances would come out this week...
can anyone comment on the LGBT friendliness of the school? I found the AMSA LGBT Residency/Med School Directory of Feinberg somewhat disheartening (wouldn't let me copy the link). I LOVE the school though - top choice.
Look into their Reach OUT program. They seem to actively recruit LGBT students (hopefully with some degree of success), and I'm sure they would be happy to address your pressing questions as they have mine. Best of luck.
that is disturbing, a school shouldn't decrease standards for you just because you have a different sexual orientation. that is worse the affirmative action.

I've been complete and under review here since Aug 10th and no interview invite. Is this a silent rejection?

Hey everyone,
Been complete since July 12. No word yet. Since AMCAS I have been offered a scholarship on a D-1 track and field team and started training (I know... senior year before med school- maybe not my most intelligent decision but track is my passion and I finally have time). I know the school says it would prefer if no updates are sent prior to an interview invite; but I feel that this might change my application from the "maybe" to the "interview" pile. (I'm a 4.0 / 32R)
You think I should send an update or just assume that after 4 months I'm pretty much out of luck haha. Thanks!
i know this has been asked a bazillion times, but no one seems to be answering it. I looked on the northwestern website, and i can't find anything. Anyone know if northwestern sends pre-interview rejections? Any input from a current student would be much appreciated. I think there are a lot of people on this forum that would appreciate a response to this question. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Sorry,
Did not mean to be "bigoted". I was responding to the poster who wrote that the school "actively seeks to recruit lgbt students". What I meant was that sex/race should simply NOT be any part of the admissions process. Committee should be blind to race/sex/orientation/political beliefs. From that quote I got the impression that schools seek lgbt students especially so that they could increase their diversity which I think is stupid.
In that same regard I do believe that affirmative action is not a great system. It essentially stereotypes people based on race. Without any added info. There are plenty of "minorities" who are applying from rich families just as there are plenty of "white males" applying from tough backgrounds. In the end, I believe that if you believe in freedom/equality you cannot justify affirmative action
Finally, you are absolutely wrong to say "sorry for my patients" ... I can't believe that my belief in equality which is based on that fact that one's profession life is not defined by race/sex/orientation can somehow affect my ability to care for the ill.

I hope this is some encouragement for everyone waiting. I submitted my secondary on 8/2 and I finally got an interview invite today!!
