has anyone received an acceptance off the WL yet?
Anyone?? I'm really hoping there's some movement soon...

has anyone received an acceptance off the WL yet?
There was waitlist movement on the 13th and 14th of May as well as May 24th. If it is tiered or ranked, no one is saying. Was there any waitlist movement before May 15th last year? Also, is NYU's waitlist tiered or ranked?
So I'm confused. A lot of people have been telling me that NYU accepts a decent number from their waitlist, but it seems that not a lot of last year's applicants got off the waitlist. I understand that the people on SDN don't represent the entire population of applicants, but what's the truth? 😕
All of the student hosts I was with came off the waitlist and told me that a lot of people did in fact come from the waitlist.
I checked. I actually got a good amount in grants. I assume it's a financial need thing rather than merit-based even though it's called a "scholarship" in the award. So I just checked financial aid. No scholarships, all loans. Anyone else check yet?
Yuuuup, no help other than loans. Just withdrew since I at least have some partial scholarships at other schools. . . best of luck to the waitlist!
How do you check? On Albert, mine says there is no information available.
How do we withdraw an acceptance? Do we just send them an email to the admissions office, or is there a way to do it online?
Anyone from New York gotten the meningitis or polio vaccine? Where? My doctor doesn't administer it, and I'm trying to find one that does.... All the places I'm calling, doesn't administer it on insurance. So I have to pay out of pocket, which includes like $125 just for the visit, then paying for the vaccine separately. One of the office I called said it's 150 just for meningitis vaccine 😱
Double check your pediatric records, because most people get the series as a kid. If you don't have it, then I'd call the student health services at (212) 263-5489 and ask them for advice on that, because it'd take around 7 months to get the series completed and classes are starting before then. They probably can advice you on where to get those vaccines as well.

If you're going to be in nyc this summer, Student Health will probably be able to give you the vaccines for free. The only caveat is that you can't move into the dorms (if you are living in the dorms) before you get them, as this is a public health issue (I know for a fact it applies to meningitis, but not sure about polio). Not sure if this helps =/
Has anyone who has submitted housing forms/deposit received a confirmation e-mail back?
I sent in my housing forms and got a confirmation email about 5 days later (they were sent from the midwest)
I guess they have my stuff at the office (I called), but they never sent that confirmation out for some reason. Does it say anything important besides them confirming they have the stuff?
Nope, the confirmation email just said "Congratulations on your acceptance to the NYU School of Medicine Class of 2016! We have received your application and $100 housing fee. Housing assignments will be mailed in early to mid-July, we do not have specifics available at this time. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions or concerns." Did you guys specifically request a building when it asked for your preference? I ended up putting one down, as well as the type of apartment layout I wanted, but I wasn't sure if I was being too specific.

Anyone going to second look tomorrow and Friday have thoughts on attire?
hi guys,
just a friendly reminder from a student that is for sure attending NYU, if you know or feel strongly that you will not attend NYU, I encourage you to withdraw your application before May 15th. When I was at second look, I met at least 3 students who were not sure if they could attend NYU due to less than exciting financial aid packages. The staff informed us that as students withdraw, their money (grants + loans) are redistributed to other students. So though it may not seem like it matters whether you withdraw before May 15th or not, try to keep in mind the other accepted students who also have to make a decision before this date but need to know where they will stand financially before doing so. Thanks!! I hope you all make great decision and if you decide NYU is for you, I'll see you in the Fall!!! 🙂
just got a nice scholarship after receiving all loans initially!
And let's not forget doing it for those of us on the wait list!awesome! 👍 I hope more people empathize and withdraw if they do not plan to attend as I'm totally one of those people hoping for more money 🙄
What about for science? And let's not forget doing it for those of us on the wait list!
I was also complete fairly late in the cycle, but I didn't get the impression that this was the factor that put me on the wait list, although I do think it took me out of consideration for that first Dec. 15th acceptance release. But who really knows. What about for science?![]()
Hey guys, just a quick question. I was planning on writing an update letter to NYU because I recently got PBK admission, but is it that something reasonable to update them on or am I wasting my time since it seems that a lot of pre-meds have it?
