Student interviewers see you're entire AMCAS minus your MCAT/GPA (and for some reason, your undergrad university/major isn't listed, but not because they don't want us to know it or anything) and no letters of rec. Students do have the PS, activities/descriptions, and secondary essays.

The interviewer has your entire file except for metrics (GPA, MCAT)

thx

Can someone post the link to the Facebook group for the OSU Medical School Class of 2016?

Any updates on remaining interview spots? 7 more days to hope.

How do you know we have 7 more days?

Called them up. They informed me that they "typically" stop giving out invites by the end of February. Not sure if that is a hard rule, but I'm being optimistic!

So if you don't get a call and its been more than 10 days since your interview...does that mean you for sure weren't accepted? :/...

From Twitter: "If you interviewed on Jan. 30, Feb. 1, 6, 8, 2012, you will receive an admission decision on your status page by Friday, February 17, 2012"

If you interviewed after that, I'm pretty sure admissions calls are going out next Wednesday (Feb 29) and the status page should be updated by next Friday (March 2).

Guess it is time to withdraw - withdrawal is better than rejection.

When I called this morning they said that they were in the process of reviewing applications a second time for possible interview invites so it seems as if it isn't over yet. Of course things aren't looking good so if you haven't heard back, now would be the time to send any letters.

good luck getting the adcom your letter in a timely manner. I submitted one on the last week of January, and I just got an email saying that it was added to my file yesterday.

I think they probably have a certain time during the month when they look at letters of intent/interest cause I sent mine in about two or so weeks ago and got a confirmation of it yesterday.

Yea OSU is VERY slow about that. Sent an update first week of November (along with my secondary 😀 - yes very late!) and got an e-mail mid-December saying it was added to my app.

Anyways, not too bent on attending OSU (would be nice!) as I'm already accepted at Cinci and Einstein which I feel are comparable programs.

Just curious, has anybody on here who was given a "deferred" decision after their interview been upgraded to an acceptance any time in the last few weeks?

I interviewed on 1/4 and was deferred two weeks later. Wondering if at this point everybody who doesn't have an acceptance is essentially on a waitlist.

In my interview on 2/13, they said the decisions for our spots would be accepted, deferred or rejected. At that point in time, they were not putting people on the waiting list. Of course once they accept to capacity, thats when the "deferred" decision turns into a "waitlist" decision.

I have an update to my application and an interview in March. Should I mail the letter or drop it off on interview day?

I contacted the admissions office and was told that thank you notes could be sent via snail-mail. Does anyone know why they will not give out email addresses? I was hoping my interviewers would receive the notes prior to a decision being made.

But the slim chance that you'll get an interview invite is better than a withdrawal.

Haha, that is true. I can't go on anymore interviews (got 21 II) and have my fair share of acceptances. Plus, I really doubt they will get back to me. I submitted in July - if they wanted me, they would have said something. On the off chance that I am scheduled for an II, I hope one of you get it!

Wow! 21 Interview Invites, thanks for telling us, you are the mon!

please do still send the thank you notes via snail mail, it's just something you should do (Whether it effects your decision or not, just send it to the office)

They were mailed out this weekend 🙂 I was going to send them regardless if they got there beforehand. I was just curious as to why they preferred one delivery system over the other.

It was very weird...I had one II for the first month, then got 8 in one week. Its been a topsy turvey adventure, but an adventure nonetheless.

Is anyone currently taking that online WVU anatomy course? I may end up taking the summer session to meet the anatomy requirement, but I'd be curious to hear feedback from anyone on here who is currently taking it.

Hey, I'm currently taking the class right now. Haven't ever done an online course before, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it is not too tough, assuming you put in the time studying. You have to be a self-starter though, because after the first couple weeks, communication dies down from the course coordinators. They didn't even send out reminder emails for the second round of tests (there are 4 for the non-lab, and 6 for the lab), so make sure you put all the dates in your calendar ahead of time and stay on top of the material. I got distracted and went a couple weeks without remembering I was even in the class, and as a result had to play catch-up, which is no fun with this volume of material.

The tests are timed and multiple choice, and they don't state whether they are open or closed- book/notes, but rather that the tests be taken "independently". That is an ambiguity it would be good to clarify if you take the course, but I have been taking the tests without any notes or book references for the challenge. Oh, and it helps to do well on the tests, because they are the only graded components of the class.

That may be too much info already, but I could tell you more if you care to know...if so, feel free PM me. Overall, can't complain about a course that I don't have to put pants on or leave my apartment for. But if I don't end up getting out of this "deferred" limbo, you'd best believe I'm going to wish I had waited til the summer.

So I just got put on the deferred list today. Does anybody have any advice about what I should do in this situation? I really love Ohio State, but I'm not sure if they want letters of intent. I already sent them my updated transcript. Any advice, especially from people who have been on the deferred list, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On interview day, Ms. Kenyon (?) said that they welcome us keeping in touch with them if we get deferred.

haven't heard anything since i submitted my secondary in july but still havent been rejected yet. ok to give up hope already?

i want to move on and commit to going somewhere else already instead of keeping on waiting for hopes and dreams from osu lol

What is the starting date for the summer session?

What is the starting date for the summer session?

It starts on May 14th, I think. And it ends on July 28th. I contacted someone at the school and they said that grade turn around will be quick enough to get the info to Ohio State by the deadline. That seems reasonable. Since it's all computerized, I would think that grades would be known the instant you finish the last test. So although July 28th is cutting it close, it should work out.

I think it's over for those waiting on an interview. Guess it was really hard to get into OSU this year due to them over accepting last year. Oh well, let those rejections stream in.

I called them on Friday and they said that most of the interview invites had been extended and they are working on filling spots that opened up from people withdrawing. Also, they won't begin closing files until April.

Thanks for letting us know. Does it sound like they're going to be filling every interview spot that opens up until the very last day?

I really hope I don't soon regret this, but have any of you guys heard anything recently post-interview?

Today is a decision day right? It's been 2 weeks since the last decision day but I didn't see anything on their twitter.

It should be today. There wasn't a tweet last decision day either.

Edit: The tweet was just posted confirming that calls will go out tonight.

Please allow me to sum up my feelings at the present moment with a most appropriate and accurate photograph:

In my case, I'm betting either Deferred or Rejected. I interview poorly.

Looks like USNews put OSU at 39 for research and 40 for primary care. Seems weird how these rankings can fluctuate so much in such a short period of time. Certainly makes one wonder about the methodology behind it.

obviously it's not a great representation of the school, we have gone up in terms of step 1 average etc. And unless every professor left last year, there shouldn't be a real reason for a 20 or so step drop
