Thoughts on UIC vs Rush? Am interviewing next Wednesday. 🙂

I think my UIC friends have way too many exams. 🙂 Rush is on a block schedule (at least, the first-year curriculum is, and presumably our curriculum next year will be as well--the current M2s are on the traditional schedule because the block format for the second year was still being worked out (my understanding of the situation, at least)) and I rather like it.

just withdrew my application after an acceptance. hope this goes to someone great and makes their day!

Hi all, I had an interview that was originally scheduled for Nov 2nd, but because of the Wednesday only think I won't be interviewing until the 7th of Dec, Is this late in the Rush interview season?

I was complete on October 5th, and still no Interview Invite!!!

Is this to soon to be freaking out? Can anybody give me a general timeline of their experience??

Also, I am OOS does anybody know some average stats for OOS applicants who received interviews??

Any help will be appreciated!!

Yeah I think I have been complete here since like mid-September. It took them a really long time to download my LORs. They technically could have had all my stuff in early August, but I guess that is just the way it goes. Anyway, I have not heard anything, but my understanding is that things move slower as it gets later in the season. I have been waiting for almost two months. I am statistically competitive for Rush, but I know that they value a lot of intangibles that I may or may not have. I do not know the stats for OOS, but I know Rush values IS a little bit more than the other Chicago private schools. At least this is the information provided by my school's premedical advisers. I wouldn't get too worked up about a month waiting time. I think it generally takes at least two months at this point, unless you are an all star 40T 3.999999999, so you aren't on hold or anything. They just haven't reviewed your application yet.

Best of Luck!

Thanks! This helps a lot. I feel my stats are very competitive for Rush. I hope the admissions committee feels I have those "intangibles".

I guess its just a practice in patience at this point. If you or anyone else hears any new news post and let those of us who are waiting know.

Can anyone give me an idea of when the interview day ends..I'm trying to figure out which return flight to book. Thanks!

I had both of my interviews in the morning and was done around 1:30. Some people had afternoon interviews and may have finished by 2 or 2:30. You don't know your schedule until you get there, though.

I had one of the 1:30 interviews and was probably in my car on the road at about 3. The interview day was awesome! Everyone was very friendly and the whole thing was very relaxed. I just hope Rush loved me as much as I love it!!!! :xf:

Interview invite received today =D!

According to gmail, it was 2:02 AM.

Yeah, I think that's usually when their system updates.

Does Rush do II waves? Or are they constantly sending them out? If its waves, then I was passed over, again 🙁

I got an email from rush this morning too!
...but it was just an announcement about some graduate info session. looks like i was passed over this wave too (if they really do send out invites in waves)

Also, my status page says internal server error when I click on file status. 😕

However I WAS able to log in, so I don't think this is like another MCW-type situation.

anyone else having the same issue?

Mine is saying that too....now I'm scared :scared: Rush is definitely one of my top choices!

Mine says that too, although they must be having some sort of problem with their server. I remember reading somewhere that the status page won't give you any information about interviews/rejections though.

Interview invite this morning at 3:02 am EST (application complete 8/31). Given several date options, picked 11/30, but have not received a confirmation yet. Anyone else who received interview today and scheduled it not get their confirmation email? Also I'm getting the same error message when I tried to check my status.

I scheduled my interview for 11/30. Got the confirmation email at 10:05am. I hope you get yours today.

Just got an (at first, scary sounding) email! 😀

I loved RUSH! Interviewed on 10/12.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Do you mind posting your stats and when you were complete?

My application was marked complete on 09/21. As far as stats go, I don't like to divulge them as I believe this process is much more than just a numbers game.

Oddly enough, they are pretty easily found: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=854956

EDIT - Yes, I know this was a jerk move, but I wanted to point out that people just need to use the search function AND once it's on the internet you can't take it back.

I knew this would happen 🙂
I can only expect some people freaking out because their #s are better than mine and still haven't heard anything yet.

😉 The more I witness this process the more that I realize there is no such thing as a true cookie cutter applicant. Of course, if someone has a 42R MCAT and a 4.0 they are in pretty good shape, but that is the extent that I actually take notice of the numbers game.

Accepted! So happy 😀 I was scared earlier when people from my interview date received acceptances, but I guess it took a little longer for my interviewers to get in my paperwork. : Does back flip:

I'm personally not too concerned with stats that I would ever sift through multiple posts to find if someone posted theirs. You're right though ormm, there are definitely many factors that go into an interview invite. Congratulations on yours, glad you got one!

Congratulations to everyone who received acceptances today! 😀

Then why ask the question to begin with?

You misunderstand me. I was curious, but not curious enough to where I would go through post history. Anyway, this isn't a big deal haha. It really was just a simple request so that I could have a measure of assessing myself against those who were given interview invites today.

Simple curiosity, maybe? It was a fairly common and innocuous request.

Thanks 😳

Sure I'll would have agreed with that... But the response smells of hypocrisy because if you don't care then why ask.

In case you couldn't detect it: my absolute #1 pet peeve are hypocrites.

That's not very copacetic of you. 😉

I'm interviewing in December, I'm hoping to stay with a hosts. Any person that has stayed with a host, do you recommend staying somewhere at Center Court or off-campus? Just curious because they ask my preference.

Also, people appear to love this school so much, but how does it compare to other schools. Perhaps those in Philadelphia or other big cities? Thanks

I learned the word from a Chicago area band:

Good song. 👍

Without meaning to preempt any of the current applicants who'd probably have a more relevant opinion, I'd say there are two things to consider: 1) do you want to know what it's like to stay at Center Court versus what it's like to actually live in the city away from campus (a lot of people end up staying at CCG, especially people moving in from out of state, because it's zero hassle versus trolling Craigslist/going through a finder service or realtor when you aren't able to check out places in person)?, and 2) how early do you want to get up for your interview? A lot of people live in the neighborhood (not at CCG) but there are also some people who live in areas like Wicker Park or the Loop which means you'd have to get up a little bit earlier (not a whole lot earlier; probably on the order of a half-hour earlier depending on exact location) to account for the trip on public transportation.

As far as comparing Rush to other schools -- are there any things in particular you'd like opinions on? (Just to help anyone who might respond.)

Thanks for the response. I am out of state, so maybe checking out Center Court will be ideal with the time I have.

I've interviewed in some big cities (Philly, NY), just curious what Chicago can provide that's perhaps unique? I also ask about the comparison because I kind of noticed a lot of people wanting to go here, at least when looking through SDN. I know there's people wanting to get into any school, but I noticed it a little more with Rush. Is it the teaching, or the facilities, do students from Rush match extremely well? Or perhaps the school just checks all the boxes.

Does anyone know if Rush does silent rejections? I was complete in August but have not heard anything since...

Rush and RFU are my top choices because I have many friends in Chicago. The emotional support is important to me. Probably not the same reason why so many people like Rush. 😛
Chicago is a great city but the climate is not for everyone. I know most CA/FL kids will freak out in the Chicago winter.

Haha, it's just starting to get cold in Chicago now. It will be interesting to see how all of the Cali and FL people react around this time next year. 😀
