I received an email saying something along the lines of "we are glad to welcome you to the entering class", which basically means that they got my reply. That email didn't specifically say that my deposit went through, but I know that they will email you again if the transaction was not successful.

hey... so last tuesday I overnighted my deposit to them (I was sooo excited I couldn't even think of any other way to send it). usps says it was received wednesday....

but I've yet to see that email, and I've yet to see any money deducted from my checking account.

how long did it take for you to get an email acknowledging receipt? its been about 4 business days for me so far.....

not that its a huge deal, but once I hit the 2 week mark, I'll probably give them a call.....

I interviewed on 11/15 as well.... I know I had to be a little more patient since it was right before Thanksgiving break and that the 3-4 weeks would probably be closer to 4-5, maybe even 6 weeks, but I checked yesterday and the "Congratulations for Interview" message has disappeared from my status site. From what I have been reading, people usually found out 3-4 days after they noticed that? This could have happened before and I just noticed it yesterday, not exactly sure. Anybody interview on 11/15 get a decision yet? Also, are decisions always emailed on Mondays? One more: what comes first, the email, the status site, or the acceptance package?

does it matter?

email and then the package. Then they dont rely on their app website

lol it doesn't matter, but people are eager to get their decisions. Status -> email -> mail for me, but the status update doesn't do anything (except making people panic).

They received my mail on a Friday and I got their email on Monday.

I'm also waiting for an email from admissions, so I guess they're busy.

Yeah. I know for sure I'm in on Tuesday, and I'm still waiting for the official email.

srry for the question but did they give a hint to when they would send out emails?

Congrats again!

No idea! 🙂 Administrative ppl send out the emails, and they do it when they get around to it, I guess 🙂 I don't think they exclusively send emails on Mondays (I've seen Tues/Thurs/Fri acceptance emails on this thread). It'll come soon.

Accepted via email!

Interviewed on 10/18/11 ( so definitely more than 3 weeks for my decision)

Interview status removed on Monday, accepted Thursday!

Good luck to everybody

From what I gathered at my interview, the probation has nothing to do with the curriculum and has everything to do with the administration. Basically I was told that everyone is viewing it as a positive thing, because they wanted things to change for a while and they just needed someone in power to push the administration in the right direction. They are making a lot of changes and the students and staff I talked to seemed really optimistic.

It's unfortunate that it takes a threat of probation for schools to get their act together; hopefully it works out.

But considering the Dean resigned,
this is probably somewhat of a larger issue than they are playing it out. I heard that there were some very big problems in the administration, and the result will be more of a surgery than a face-lift.

This could be a good thing or a bad thing, but either way, I'd prefer not to be the entering student class into this confusion~

We can only speculate as to what is happening here. Either way, I plan on attending SUNY Upstate because I believe you still receive a fantastic education which is what I am looking for.

I'm passionate about SUNY Update. However, with probation in place or pending, I think it erases the fantastic education you mentioned above. A dysfunctional house is a dysfunctional house and it set the ship slightly tilted. A ship without a captain is scary (No Dean). The LCME would not call the shot if there wasn't some grave concern. Probation damages the reputation of the school, period! Imagine been ask on your residency interview tray about the probation issue. Furthermore, coming from a school that has such a stain (probation...cheating issues...etc) doesn't look good on one's record. SUNY Upstate is keeping the detail from it applicants. The school knows they're on the edge, the faculty knows if they don't put on their best character, they'll all go down. Keep in mind, the school goal here is to provide highly painted sale pitch for those interviewing.

Very true! It would affect everyone across the board (current, entering student and faculty members). Imagine been asked on your residency interview about this whole issue of probation.

Believe me, this is just a sale pitch! It's a positive thing because now everyone must put their act together.

Alright this is taking it too far. They will in no way possible lose their accreditation, so they are not on the verge of "going down." They also do have a new dean.
Many great schools were on Probation in recent years, including the University of Chicago and Johns Hopkins. Also, all of the evidence indicates that their curriculum is not the problem.

I am just worried that entering students will face a flawed experience. Not for their education.

uhhmmm by the time i will be interviewed for residency, this probable probation thing would have blown over. And no, I cannot imagine why would a possible probation in the past of the school would have anything to do in my residency interview. I won't be interviewed for an administrative position. My residency interview will be about me, my capability, my performance. I grant you that the cheating issue for that one class is a bad mark, but every school makes some sort of mistakes. They're gonna fix it and take appropriate measures from now on. Who are you to speculate about what the school and faculty know or go down? Unless you're privy to some info that we don't all know already. If you don't like this school, don't go here.

I think you summed up my own understanding and feelings regarding the situation. Just remember later kj when your a doctor or any type of healthcare professional what they say about making assumptions.

Congrats! I remember you from last year cycle, and I'm happy you finally got in. It must be a huge relief!

Make sure you live life to the fullest in the nice chunk of time you have before med school starts! 🙂

just curious... why wouldn't they?

I think they are reserving the course for those individuals that do not have the depth in the biological sciences or that have been out of school for awhile as to make the adjustment period easier. At least that was my understanding. I wouldn't mind beginning early though.

😀

Interview tomorrow....

Any tips? Things to ask about and/or avoid asking about? Namely this probation business?

That's not true. It is a great opportunity for such individuals like you mentioned, but anyone can sign up for summer anatomy. 🙂

Adcom will address the probation business around 11am or so... If you have question, ask adcom right then... If you wanna get a student perspective, perhaps you can ask your MS student interviewer. Remember to be nice and polite and w/o prejudice.

On a general note, just relax, be yourself. They care more about your personality more than your numbers during interview.

Any 11/15ers get any sort of response yet? It's been three weeks now. They said 3-4 and for us to call on the 4th Tuesday. 6 days left for the 4th Tuesday.... getting pretty anxious now!!

I did as well! who were you? haha

My identity will remain a secret here, lol (I'm sure to make a fool of myself here)
But yep, haven't heard anything yet. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE soon.

Hey archer57, has your congratulations message disappeared yet?

it did. archer got accepted around mid nov.

I was wondering the same thing...

For those that interviewed mid Nov, did your "congratulations" message disappear? Mine disappeared last week but unlike others, I haven't heard anything. Though, those that heard interviewed before me...

If your from darthmouth... I think I interviewed with you in mid-Nov. My message disappeared last week but I recieved no email. I imagine we hear back this week.
