So i interviewed 11/15, and I just noticed that when I enter my status page, all I see is Applications in Progress and Processed Application tabs. When I click on Fall 2012 just under the processed application tab, I see various information including my name, address, admission term, etc. And right next campus, I see Syracuse.

Of course, I sent in the campus preference form more than 2 weeks ago, but according to posts above, it should be listed as "Not Entered," right next to the campus item?? I'm really anxious if that's what it's supposed to be... Anyone have an idea??

The "not entered" ppl were talking about is on the first page, under the Application Preference column. I never paid attention to the detail of Fall 2012 app so idono. In the detail app, my campus is Syracuse as well.

Considering that people who didn't have the message disappear still received a decision of hold/reject, this doesn't really make sense.

If the message disappearing was indicative of a decision, then Everyone's message would have disappeared. Which does not seem to be the case...

oh... from what I saw everyone had the message disappear at some point, even those who received rejections.

I dunno... Ppl who have had the message disappear have all been accepted so far. It's not like you've been rejected or placed on hold. Just try to be patient, I imagine alot of people shall hear back this week. I bet the delay is purely due to administration falling behind in emailing.

I hope this is the case. My message hasn't disappeared yet and I interviewed over a month ago.

But the evidence cannot just be ignored. Everyone who has had the message disappear was accepted, without exception. If there was just ONE person to honestly report a disappear=> no eventual acceptance, we could dismiss this.

I feel like titillaya has a point. Just because everyone whose message disappeared got accepted doesn't prove that is actually the case.. Has there been an instance where someone didn't see the message disappear then got rejection/hold??

We have been Begging for someone to please speak out for the past week. But Not a single person has responded with a notable case.

Considering no one has said anything at all, we are under the assumption that everyone who has gotten a rejection/hold have not had the message disappear.

But you are right, so far all reported instances have been: disappear=> accept

I know it's difficult. I've been giving up hope as well, but you just have to be patient and hope it's an acceptance. I think you'll hopefully hear back this week and I'm going to hope that its good news.

heh, I didn't know they even called. So far there were strictly emails. I got a phone call, but it was from someone I knew 🙂

Summer anatomy starts from June 8 to July 31. There's a form that you need to send/fax in. Of course, do the health clearance first.

I'm still waiting for someone to disprove the disappearing msg = acceptance theory! 🙂 I know it doesn't sound right (hehehe) but isn't it nice to have hope?

I don't think the call is usual at all. They had a question I had to answer that wasn't covered in my application before they gave me the acceptance.

Fancy! Not even a bit....just alittle non-traditional. lol!

Yeah the form online lists those dates but they are for 2009. I'll email adcom and I'll let you guys know when I do.

I'm trying to just relax about it. (Although the fact that I am checking this thread gives me away a little!). I interviewed 11/2, and am still waiting to hear. I think it's Thanksgiving and all. When I called they said admissions meets on Wednesdays, so I'm hoping to hear something by Thursday.

I just don't get why they are going out of order.... why are people that interviewed from 11/2 and 11/7 not hearing and people from 11/15 and 11/17 hearing?! I interviewed on 11/15 and called... they said to just be patient and that I will hear shortly.... It's killing me too!

Have people who received their acceptance notices around late Nov.-early December received their Upstate acceptance packets yet? I haven't received mine yet, but hope that it hasn't mistakenly been sent to the North Pole.. I know of alot of letters headed in that direction around this time of the year, lol. Needless to say, I would love to send them their $ and have this taken care of before the holidays arrive...Overall, congrats to all with recent acceptances! And, good luck to those still waiting... Think positive, and enjoy the wait; it makes the celebration that much sweeter!

Got news of my acceptance on 12/1. Got my packet last week (I think) or last Saturday at the latest... Mailed my check but it hasn't been cashed yet.

Have not received the snail-mail stuff, and was accepted in early December. You're not alone (though now I'm starting to get a little worried now that you mention it)...

Got my acceptance by email this past Monday!! So relieved. I interviewed on 11/9 and was getting worried seeing people getting accepted who were interviewed after me. The email says they're sending a packet in the mail.

They are definitely accepting more people this application season... most likely because they are afraid of less people choosing to go there due to the LCME's recommendation to put them on probation, and the cheating with the 4th years. I think its nonsense... it's a great school and I highly doubt they will end up going on probation... but even if they do, its not a huge deal... plenty of schools have and still are on it. Oh well. I will most likely attend if I get accepted even though I have acceptances elsewhere.

Upstate is a great school no doubt. But considering that (correct me if I am wrong) no school has ever successfully appealed a probation status-- including Hopkins and University of Chicago--it is a fairly safe bet they will be on probation for some time.

As you guys can see I do not use SDN but I saw some unanswered questions here so I decided to make an account to answer some of the lingering questions

1) For those who haven't interviewed yet and are nervous, relax. I interviewed at Upstate 3 years ago and it was my first interview, but my interviewers could not have been nicer. There is a policy of "no stress interviews", as in you are unlikely to be asked questions that you don't prepare for. I myself am a student interviewer, and I believe the best way to get to know an applicant in one hour is to have a conversation with them. You will be asked why you are interested in medicine and why you chose this program (standard), but beyond that, it can be a combination of what you write in your essay (I do read them) and/or whatever direction the conversation takes me. Just prepare for those questions, and for the rest, be relaxed and be yourself. Most of the interviewers here, including faculty, are very laid back.

2) For those that have not heard even if they interviewed at an earlier date than some applicants that have heard back, it is possible that the evaluations just haven't been turned in. Most of the interviewers are very responsible and submit feedback within the week, but occasionally, tests come up and delay things. When I interviewed it took ~ 6 weeks to receive an answer and it seems like this year the turnaround has been quicker.

3) I don't know anything about the status changes on the website and any correlation with whether or not it means an acceptance or not.

4) If you have concerns about the school's pending probation, send me a PM and I will gladly answer your questions.

Here's my timeline:
My interview acceptance message disappeared on 11/28.
The review meeting happened on 11/29 and I got accepted.
The official email was sent out on 12/1.

So, now I think that disappeared message just means that you're in the upcoming batch of apps to be reviewed... However, so far we have not heard from anyone who noticed their interview message disappeared and got rejected/waitlisted.

When does the committee decide to reject/interview the students on pre-interview hold?
