From the package, there's a form to fill for the deposit (cc or cheque info) and another form saying yes/no I will attend and yes/no I'd like my email address to be made available to other matriculants. I don't think that you need to rush to send your deposit before receiving the package.

I sent it to 1215 Weiskotten (Office of Student Admissions) but I'm guessing it's virtually the same thing.
 
Rejected today by email. No hold. No HPA. Just a rejection.

This is especially difficult news because I felt that both my interviews went very well.

In fact, one of the interviewers even said that I will "be a good doctor"!

And another interviewer was agreeing with my opinions and saying that he agrees with me on a lot of my opinions (re: healthcare reform, politics).

I really liked both my interviewers, and it seemed that I made good connections with them.

I am just trying to understand why this happened.

Is it because I am OOS (Canadian)?

3.68 sGPA
3.53 cGPA
4.0 grad GPA
40R

It doesn't make any sense..... Or maybe it was my interview essays? I wrote them in a bit of a rush, and they could have been better. 🙁

This is the first decision I have got back this cycle, and it makes me question my behavior on future interviews. Maybe the fact that I am relaxed and satisfied after interviews is not actually a good sign?
 
First acceptance after a lot of rejections in the last couple weeks. Huge sigh of relief.
 
Y'all are freaking me out!!!!! AHHHH, with Thanksgiving coming, I doubt I'll hear anything back until after. 🙁
 
i didn't see a word/character limit for the pre-interview essays. how much have you guys been writing?

I emailed and asked adcom. She said average 1-1.5 page for each question. I'm sure 4 pages total would be OK too, since they didn't give a limit. But too long may get real tedious to read. 🙂

Sorry to hear. Us Canadians are applying for a very limited number of spots, and it's extremely hard to guess the outcome. Maybe Upstate received applications from several good international students and has accepted a few already (i.e. 1-3), which consequently pushed you off the list.

Keep working. I see you got a few interviews. You should end up getting in somewhere.

And 40R is a very nice score. Congratulations on that.

I am sorry, trust me I know how hard this can be. Good luck with all the rest of your schools! I am sure youll get in soon. Keep the faith!

Hey guys, question for those who have been accepted.

so i sent in my deposit 🙂 🙂

Do they send you an email confirmation saying that your deposit has been received?

Of course, I can just watch my bank account for when the check is processed.

I sent in the deposit a few days ago, so obviously that hasn't happened yet. But the only reason I ask this, is if they typically send an email confirmation, and I say don't get this email, then I'd email them and ask if everything was received and processed alright.

if that isn't their policy, i'll probably just watch my checking account, and move from there....

I received an email saying something along the lines of "we are glad to welcome you to the entering class", which basically means that they got my reply. That email didn't specifically say that my deposit went through, but I know that they will email you again if the transaction was not successful.
 
Interviewed on 10/18/11.

Wondering when I will hear back...

They told us approximately 3 weeks at the interview, so I'm a little confused.

How long does the interview usually take? Would I be able to catch a bus that leaves at 4:30?

Depends on your interview times...you will have 2 interviews. I had one around 10ish, then I had the latest interview at 330pm. I would have cut it close if I were taking a 430 bus. If I were you, I might email them and specify that you will need one of the earlier interviews.

Interest could be activity, hobby, or whatever thing that you like to do. Be honest and unique, don't be too cliche and say "My interest is helping people". You've already listed your volunteer work and clinical experiences, so here's the space for you to show yourself as a unique person. Pick something you like to do, and have been doing for a while and demonstrate how it shapes you as a person. What kind of life lesson you've learned from doing it and how your character forms? How would that affect you (positively) as a future doctor?

So I've been following this thread but hadn't posted yet. Thought I'd join in now.

Got my II today via status page. Completed 10/19. Looks like interview spots are now filled up through January. The earliest available was February 8 with only a few other days open in February. Good luck everyone!
 
Also, for those who have interviewed already, how long did the day last? The last train back to where I live leaves at 4:11. Would I be able to catch that or should I plan to stay an extra night? Thanks!
 
Sorry, I didn't read previous posts closely enough. I found the answer so please ignore my question re: length of interview day.

I think that the latest interviews ran till about 3.30pm. If your train isn't too far from campus, I think it's manageable to leave at 4.11pm, for sure.

Good luck to those of you with an upcoming interview! I've also been following and hadn't posted yet. Just curious though for all the people who have interviewed here so far, how does it compare to other schools upstate (atmosphere-wise)? My application is on hold here & I've been accepted somewhere out of state, but it would be nice to go back home to NY.
 
II yesterday, scheduled Feb1...anyone else interviewing that day?
 
So my Interview thingie is gone. Is there a consensus about whether this vanishing is indicative of anything, or just more SDN neuroticism?
 
So I selected February 13 as my interview date, which then showed up on the status page, but when I logged back into check out information about hotels near campus, my status had changed to say I hadn't scheduled the interview yet. Has anyone else had this problem? I selected the 13th again, and it once again disappeared on my next log in. I've since printed the confirmation page so if it disappears a third time and the 13th gets book I have proof to show I was scheduled.

You have to wait until you get an e-mail to schedule your appointment.
The same thing happened to me! I called the admissions office and she said I had to wait until they sent me an e-mail.
If it helps, my email came at 8 pm the Monday after my status changed.
 
I got in!!! Honestly I doubted myself and was prepared for reapplication if needed. But no more MCAT, no more applying. This is the only school I applied to and finally got an answer. So happy!!!

My "Interview" status message thing went away on Monday morning. I believe it means the application is now under review. It will take a day or two to get answer from the school. I don't have an official acceptance email yet, but the adcom I know called and told me I got accepted. Hopefully they'll dole out acceptance emails tomorrow!!!

Thanks! I hope that email comes soon then--I also put in my time off request and booked my train tickets. . . .

I interviewed on 10/31

By the way, we have a guest room in our house and are willing to rent it out to fellow classmate. So, if you don't know your housing situation, don't mind living a bit further from campus (25min drive), need a short-term place to stay, send me a PM.

For clarification, the interview message went away the week of Thanksgiving or yesterday? Mine went away yesterday afternoon...:xf:

Mine went away yesterday 11/28. I interviewed on 10/31.
 
For those that were waitlisted or rejected. Did your interview invite also disappear?
