I was wondering the same thing. I LOVED Temple and am about 99% sure I am going to be going here.

I came on here for this purpose. I also LOVED temple and feel like there is less info for upcoming students than some other schools. Im also leaving the country until July soooo I really want to know as much as I can while Im still in America so I can mentally and physically prepare.

Anyone know if there's a second look?

Anyone know if there's a second look?

Haha I am going to be in Philly next week so I think I am going to go on my own second look. But I think looking at last year's thread there is an official one at some point. Does anyone know how to start a facebook group? I just got the timeline thing and don't even know how to find my pictures anymore...:scared:

Second Look will probably be in mid to late March. That's when it's been for the last two years before. 🙂

Is Temple planning on sending out any more interviews? I've been complete since August and "Under Review" ever since....

Anyone know how Temple students tend to do on Steps 1 and 2? I know they changed the curriculum recently, so data may be thin.

Does anyone know how the wait list works. Is it ranked? Are they open to updates? TIA

II a few minutes ago. 3.78/35Q. Applied back in late August.

Interview invite here too. 33 and 3.7 out of state complete in August

IIRC, at my interview in late 2010, they said they have seen a rise in their Step scores since the changes to the curriculum, but they didn't say how much or what students typically get. That said, schools fudge their Step scores all the time in different ways.

We were told it is but they wouldn't tell students where they rank, so I guess they don't follow it exactly. Last year I don't think there was a lot of WL movement, at least not according to SDN. I would say an update certainly couldn't hurt, though. Good luck!

II this afternoon too, so excited for this school! My stats are ~3.6/32, I have been under review since August, and I submitted an update letter a couple weeks ago.

Accepted today via e-mail.
Subject line does not suggest the purpose of the e-mail.

Congrats! I was wondering if they acknowledged the letter you sent?

Nope they didn't, so I have no idea if they even read it or if it helped getting the interview or not. If one of my interviewers mention the letter I can confirm. I used the "send us stuff" link in the status login if that helps. Good luck!

Temple sends out post-interview rejections, right? Not everyone is placed on the waitlist?

Anybody else have an interview date for next week? I'm getting really excited!!

Does anybody know what the meeting with the RAR program is like? I just received an email asking if I had made an appointment.

I met with the dean of the program and he told me all about the opportunities on campus through the RAR program. There are some incredible opportunities that I was not at all aware of. Highly recommended.

Nice, thank you for the clarification! I just scheduled a meeting with them at 2pm right before my 2nd interview. Sooo excited for next Thursday!

Interview invite last week and I attended that interview last week as well! I was absolutely blown away by this school. Here's a summary of my experience for anyone that has an upcoming interview and wants more info about what to expect.

Schedule for the day:
Interviews - 1 student interview (blind) and 1 faculty interview (open). These interviews can either be in the morning before the info sessions/tour/lunch or in the afternoon after, or split (1 morning and 1 afternoon).
1) General information presentation about temple
2) Financial aid presentation
3) Student led tour of the medical research and education building (MERB)
4) Lunch

My interview group was about a dozen people who all were very friendly and from all different parts of the country. The general information session was very informal and was basically an admissions officer talking to us about the school, curriculum, living in Philadelphia, programs and opportunities offered, etc. in a room in the admissions office. The finaid session was informal as well and a rep from that office discussed that process. The student tour was led by a few 2nd year students that were extremely friendly and obviously enjoyed attending Temple. They took us around the building showing us all the bells and whistles and answering any questions we had. We had lunch with these tour guides as well where we talked about anything related to and not related to Temple/med school.

The facilities are incredible:
-brand new building
-state of the art simulation center with robots to practice clinical skills
-baller anatomy lab - highly vented so you could barely smell the formaldehyde, swiveling computers at every workstation
-big library
-plenty of study space (individual, group tables, group study rooms, etc.)
-cafe
-main hospital is right across the street (but there are multiple clinical locations for years 3-4)

My student interview was with a 2nd year student and was very relaxed. We even talked in the main lobby/atrium area where many of the current students were eating lunch. Since the student interview was blind, most of my questions were very generalized like "tell me about yourself" and "tell me about your activities/jobs during college" etc. I wasn't asked anything too difficult or touchy ethical/moral questions etc. in this or my faculty interview. The student was also willing to answer all my questions about the school and talked about how engaging the faculty is and how the clinical training at Temple is first class.

The faculty interview was also low stress and very conversational. Since this was the open interview, I was asked more detailed questions about my experiences, amcas activities, etc. that were on my application. The only curveball question I had was "what would you do to fix our country's healthcare," but even that was more of a discussion than a situation putting me on the spot. The faculty also addressed all of my questions about the school and was very personable.

As far as hearing back, they explained that the admissions committee meets on Fridays and that our files will be discussed this upcoming Friday and hopefully our decision would come shortly after (as long as our interviewers are on-time completing their evaluations). However they also said to give them about a month if we don't hear back right away, which seems to be more of the norm judging by this thread. I don't have any acceptances yet and I would be thrilled to attend here! I'm hoping for some good news :xf:

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Thanks for the impressions!! I am very excited about my interview this Thursday! You're right about the time to hear back, judging by this thread. But I still hope that my file is reviewed this week!

Sorry i think what i said about the file review was confusing. My interview was during the week as well and they explained that even though the committee would meet that Friday of our interview week, our files would not be discussed until the following Friday. So i doubt they will discuss your file until february 10th and then who knows when they'll exactly get back to any of us

Good luck with the interview though!

No, I'm pretty sure everyone that's interviewed is either accepted or WLed. That seemed to be the case last year, anyway.

Actually people are rejected post interview. I have another friend who was rejected post interview so there is a possibility of that or waitlisted if not accepted.

Just received an interview invitation. I was complete since August as well. Don't lose hope!

Accepted this morning. Correspondence sent status about an hour before acceptance e-mail.

Edit: Interviewed 1/18

So does anyone know when the waitlist might start moving (under the optimistic assumption that it will move at all)?

Just got an email about the second look date. It's going to be Friday March 23rd.

Just got it! So excited to see the school again/ meet everyone.

P.S Awesome avatar...AHS is such a good show!

I'm excited to see the school again without being distracted by the anxiety and exhaustion during the interview day. The new med school building is beautiful! (With quite possibly one of the finest anatomy labs of any med school in the nation.)

If they do the same things as they did last year, you will get play around in various parts of the Sim Center for a few hours. 🙂

Well, I have an appointmet with the RAR program tomorrow before my interview with a med student, but now I don't know if it is really applicable to me. I am not disadvantaged and I didn't apply as URM. Rather, I was contacted by email about wanting to set up an appointment.

I figured it would be cool to find out more about the school, though. Guess I will find out tomorrow. Sooo excited to be here for Temple!

You should go. Is it with Mr. Whitaker? He's really nice, and he sits on the adcom (I don't think he's a voting member, but he's there to stand as your advocate in addition to your two interviewers). It's kind of like a really informal interview/get to know you meeting.

What's the RAR program?

Haha gotta love AHS...maybe I will see you there!🙂

Has anyone received information on filling out forms and sending them Federal tax returns and W2s for financial aid? It wasn't clear to me from their website what the procedure is for all this stuff. I tried calling the financial aid office all morning and only got the answering machine.

I met with the financial aid office last week and they said basically you just have to have your taxes done and submit your FAFSA by March 1st.
Then they go over your FAFSA to determine if you get any need based aid. I think they said they also ask that you send a copy of your taxes in so they can verify everything.
It didn't seem like it was a very painful process. I did my taxes last night and was excited when I found out I get a refund...hooray taxes?
