I just got in off the waitlist today too! I received an email notifying me of the acceptance followed by a second email with a scholarship offer. This definitely makes my decision much harder.....

Can any current students offer any insight on their experiences? Particularly, how does the location of the school affect studying/commuting at night?

TIA

Being a Philly native, I was probably more scared of the location than the out of state students, because I've always known North Philly is the worst part of town. That being said, I have never felt unsafe at campus.

I've never been on campus long after dark (I finish Doctoring at 5PM so during the winter the sun was going down when I left), but I know I could have a security escort to my car if I wanted one. I drive, and Carlisle parking lot is across the street from the old medical school building (one block off Broad) and I've never felt unsafe there during the day. There are Temple buildings all around so I don't think I'd be worried at night either. It'd be a different story if I was walking a few blocks away from campus. As far as Septa, I'm pretty sure Allegheny station is monitored by Temple Police.

We're either of you two accepted to St. Luke's? Or was it main campus?

Damn I really need to get in my LOI asap.... I've been trying to make it sound perfect.

Congrats to the recent acceptances!!!! Still keeping my fingers crossed :xf:

Did either of you send in LOIs? If so, how long was the wait?

Does anyone know the cost of attendance? I couldn't find it on the website

Just called and was told a notification was sent out on 5/16. I just moved out of there and changed my address on AMCAS, which sucks. Either way, its either a waitlist or a rejection. Status hasn't changed online. Oh well.

Does anyone know when the tuition deposit refunds go out and if they just deposit it into the account you paid it with?

Thanks

Congrats on those accepted!

If you're looking to live in Center City, here's a place to consider.

There are quite a few med students (Temple, Penn, and Jefferson) in this building, and it is only a few blocks away from the Broad street line which goes straight to Temple. It is a safe, secure high rise just built last year.

Got accepted today off the waitlist. They sent me an email and when I checked my status, it had already changed to accepted. I interviewed in November and didn't sent in any extra letters or LOIs. Will be withdrawing so good luck to everyone else!

Thanks for letting us know tinaaa.

Does anybody have any idea how they go through the CCL? Is it determined by when you were interviewed/CCLed, or is it more random?

I received the email on the June 31st and was literally shocked...unfortunately I had woken up from a very short nap following a 12-hour overnight ER shift so I didn't process the significance of it until the next day.

I sent in my application Jan 13th, interview invitation Feb 16th, interviewed on Mar 6th, wait-listed April 4th.

Temple was a major reach for me, being a late applicant and my MCAT being so very very low, and my faculty interviewer pointing that out repeatedly during my interview.

I received an acceptance from WVU a couple months ago and was wait-listed at GWU and Temple. I sent updates and references to GWU and Temple, and had one more that I was going to send. At the beginning of the week, I decided to just go to WVU and not play the wait-list game. But now with this acceptance, I don't know what to do.

I love Temple and I had a great time during my interview. But I have reservations about living in Philadelphia, safety and transportation, and of course the tuition is super expensive. I have 10 days to decide as of Thursday...and I leave Wednesday for Bonaroo. Help!

I would suggest you make a separate thread in this forum for yourself. I love it here, so I'm biased and don't know the difference in cost between them.

Could you tell me about the transportation in Philadelphia and safety? I really don't want to have my car, could I get by fine relying on public transportation? FYI I think you're super human to be in med school with 2 kiddies...

Has anyone on the St. Luke's WL been accepted/heard anything?

any male who got accepted here and is looking for a roommate, please send me a message.

Hey guys!
Any news on the waitlist? I feel like it's going slow for several schools this year, but that's just my opinion.

so I have been on the waitlist since November for both Drexel and Temple. I will be in the Philly area this weekend and I was going to stop by those schools to see if I could talk to anyone on the admissions committee in person. Is this a good/bad idea? Any thoughts? Thank you

Did you end up stopping by Temple? If so, how did that work out for you? Do tell.

I did. No one was in the office so the security guard let me write a note indicating I was here and blah blah sorry I missed them. Bummer but oh well

Just got notification about getting off.. but urgh, I've already placed deposits down, gotten housing arranged (security deposits, first 2 months rent), financial aid, and emails set up and etc for a DO school right in my hometown. panicking. WHAT DO I DO 😕

I'd say stick with the DO school but my reasoning is completely selfish cuz St Luke's is my first choice and I have no acceptances, and you not taking the spot may free one up for me! But that's probably not the unbiased answer.

always go with the MD route over DO. you will be thankful for it at the end when you realize how hard it is for a DO to get into a competitive specialty. you lose security and some rent money so what? That's a small price to pay

thanks for your help!
and sorry gbc, but I think I'm going to be accepting the offer.. I hope you can still get in though! If they're still calling and e-mailing people about waitlist movement, you definitely still have a chance! 🙂
