Did everyone else's deferral letter come in an embarrassingly large envelope? When I first saw it, I thought maybe they changed their minds and decided to accept me ... but alas, deferred after all.

x2. I'd already received the e-mail, so I knew the decision, but still there was a moment of false hope.
 
Does Tufts send rejections??? I haven't been interviewed, and I know that means I'm rejected, but I'd at least like a letter stating such...

A huge wave of rejections went out a couple weeks ago.

On an unrelated note, have any deferred people heard anything?
 
based on last years thread it seems like they start putting deferred people on the waitlist after May 15th
 
Can any current student give me some tips on the living situation? Where is the best area to live? how much is the rent? how did you find your place to live?
 
Officially withdrew acceptance this morning. Hopefully you guys will have some waitlist movement soon now that May 15 is fast approaching! Best of luck, everyone 🙂
 
You should check out the accepted students facebook page if you haven't yet. There is a lot of info there.

Nothing yet. I was thinking it wouldn't be until after May 15th anyway, so hopefully by the end of this week?

I withdrew my acceptance. It was very tough, but best of luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Last year, they were notified for waitlist around end of May and there was some movement in the beginning of June. The website says we may also observe some movement in July! Let us keep our fingers crossed!
 
So the status page on your online account never changes even though you paid deposit to hold your seat? I called and was told my seat is secured but still would like to see something in writing to confirm that.
 
Called them today and they told me that they will let us deferred people know about waitlist (could be some other update as well) towards the end of the next week! Good Luck!

Bummer - I'm taking another MCAT next Thursday 5/24 just in case. Would have been nice to hear from them early next week and avoid taking the test. I guess that was always just a pipe dream....

Well you never know! From the last year's thread, it seems it will just be a waitlist email. I wish you all the best and I hope you get accepted somewhere this year itself! 🙂

You should get a confirmation e-mail from admissions soon. They are probably especially busy right now with the May 15 deadline
 
Called admissions today. They said deferred applicant decisions will not go out until next week 🙄

Do you mean the decision or just the simple conversion from deferred to waitlist? Sorry if I am being picky! 😛

They said they will send out 3 groups of decisions.

Deferred to Accept
Deferred to Wait List
Deferred to Reject

They said there are definitely spots open from withdraws after May 15th and the committee is selecting which deferred applicants to offer accepts to at this time but they expect those to who are wait listed to continue to have movement in June.

Also those not offered immediately on this round will be removed from consideration for dual degree programs.
 
Hi does anyone know how acceptance to the dual degree works? I applied md/MBA but I think I just want to do md now. If I get accepted this up coming round will my md acceptance get taken away if I no longer want to do the MBA? Thanks!

Also, for the dual degree, does it mean if I dont hear regarding my MD/MPH I will not be considered for MD admission?

I withdrew my acceptance a couple of days ago, so best of luck to all those waiting for good news! :luck:

On another note...to those of you who withdrew, who did you email? I replied to the same address that sent the original acceptance offer, but I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone gotten a confirmation from them that they received the withdraw? I know every day counts at this time of year, so I want to be sure they know about it. Thanks!
 
To AJgem and SBAKSHI

Specifically to AJ: You can log onto the secondary App for Tufts and withdraw your MBA application if you no longer intend to do the program.

In regards to how the dual degree program works:

First you are looked over by the med school admissions committee and they determine whether or not to offer you MD acceptance. If you are admitted than either the Brandeis Business or Tufts Public Health department reviews you again to determine candidacy for the dual degree program. Applying to a dual degree program has no barring on the MD acceptance.

The reason a wait list at this point eliminates consideration to dual degree programs are because MD/MBA and MD/MPH programs start well before med school does. I am not sure about MPH dates but the MBA starts on June 18th and hence if you are accepted off the waitlist there is no time for those programs to then review you for selection into dual degree.

So you will all hear about just MD before any dual degree program and if you do not hear about MD before the end of May you will not be admitted into the dual degree program for this year.

One option I did discuss with Joe Jabre (the MBA program director) is that if you get into the MD program in June or later and are granted a deferral the MBA program will look over your application for 2013 if you want to go that way. However, Tufts mentioned deferrals after May are very rare.

Are you sure that people can go straight from deferred to rejected? It seems to me, from reading the deferral email, that it either turns into an acceptance (hopefully!) or a waitlist. I'm not sure though because this whole process is so cryptic haha

I mean Im just saying what I was told, they said they will be sending out those 3 different groups for deferred applicants
 
Will accepted students still get a call from the Dean, or will everything be relayed via snail mail?
 
Also got the update contact info email, but I can't seem to get onto Tufts' secondary app site. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, having same problem. Tried different browsers and computers but didn't work.

I am concerned about the emphasis on mailing addresses, since in the past acceptances have all been preceded by phone calls. If they are mailing letters by the end of this week (Friday), wouldn't acceptance phone calls have already started happening by now/be complete? 🙁

uh yea... instead of "especially you're mailing address" mine said "especially your phone number as we will be calling you tomorrow".

Just kidding, I don't get why they'd have to have already called if they are going to send out letters in a couple days?? That doesn't make sense, they could easily call at send the letter the same day. Or maybe they'll call, and then send a letter, or maybe they'll send the letter thursday and call friday... or maybe they'll send one letter by post, and another by owl, and one via Hagrid... I vote for the last one.

The email has to be generic. I wouldn't worry until someone posts that they received an acceptance call. If that happens, then we didn't get in.
 
Got the same email and cant access the website..although their address seems to be okay, so i am not worried too much!

Same here. Instead of being completely gone, the Tufts secondary website now says Runtime Error. That's progress I guess. I did move since their last mail, and change my phone number too, so I kind of would like to get my new info into their system. 🙁
