2011-2012 Tufts Application Thread

Last time I got an email on a Friday April 13th saying I was deferred. I then got snail mail on Friday April 20th saying the same thing (post marked Monday April 16th).

Other people who got accepted that cycle reported the same thing (acceptance email on the 13th, letter postmarked 16th, received 19th-20th) except they got a call on Thursday April 12th as well.

So I would say be hopeful for a call tomorrow!
 
Called again today (anonymously to avoid looking desperate). They said all decisions via phone/email will go out by tomorrow or at the latest Monday but they are trying to get them in this week. Snail Mail to follow.

Nerve wracking!

Monday now?? Seriously?? This is brutal to be trying to plan around, let alone the anxiety of dragging it out even past the last minute (had said "by the end of May").

lol i could not sleep last night and the only thing i could think was THAT phone call..!
But thanks again for calling and sharing that with us..i can give my nerves some relaxing before tomorrow 😛

No. And now I am getting a third kind of server error. My old phone number is gone. My old paper mail address will eventually get forwarded to me after much delay. But I find it really frustrating that they are going to make a big decision and want to be able to notify me, and their system for updating my contact info has been dead the whole time!!

I totally agree this is absolutely ridiculous.
 
Website is still down for me (luckily I managed to update my phone number shortly before it crashed).
 
It seems like in the past they call around COB- hoping my phone will ring in the next or so...
 
No call or email yet....about 45 min left in the day or we have to wait till Monday
 
....And its 5:00 PM Boston time.

Im assuming no one heard? Either that means none of us got in or they postponed to Monday. 🙄😕:meanie:👎
 
I called them earlier today and they said updates should be issued "no later than Tuesday" (June 5th). Though, I did specifically ask about Maine Track, so I am not sure if that applies to regular track as well.
 
Some boredom and statistical analyses:
When I got deferred:
8th December: Update contact info email
13th-15th December: Calls to accepted students
16th December: Deferred email communication
19th December: The date on the letter I received

Based this trend,
30th May: Update contact info email
4th-6th June: Calls to accepted students
...Its not that I have so much time,but I just want to get out of this limbo! lol

Anyways, do you guys think that they will accepted students the financial aid package with the acceptance letter in mail? I mean, they would have some deadline for us to accept the admission by and I would like to see my financial aid package before accepting!!

I have no idea but that is a great question...I would love to go here but my other options costs about 25-30K per year less

I hate to ask the obvious, but here it goes. Does anyone actually think we'll hear by Monday or Tuesday?? If the website is STILL down, then still no one has yet been able to update contact info, so why on earth would they send notifications?

If their reason for delay last week was the website issue and accurate contact info, and if that problem has yet to be resolved, isn't it foreseeable that we'll be waiting until at least a few days after the website has been fixed?
 
Correct. They have modified their statement to hopefully by the end of this week for notifications.

I would be much less anxious if "deferred" was the waitlist, at which point all of this would be expected. But the thrice-delayed waitlist for the waitlist? Its almost mean.

I don't understand how the delay could be caused by their website being down. Everyone's email should still be active. If someone couldn't access their site to update an address or phone number, they could simply call them and give the update over the phone.

Goldsjf0, can you confirm that you called this morning, and were told over the phone that they would notify us sometime this week? Thanks.

Confirmed. I called them this morning and they told me that they would try to notify people no later than by the end of this week.
 
The website now works for me, but it won't let me log in because it says my user id is not active. Does anyone else have this problem?

My login worked. I could access the contact info tab, but then got a runtime error if I clicked status.
 
So after just speaking with the Admissions Office, I was told that as of today, all admissions decisions; i.e. phone calls, have gone out - and that yes by the end of the week we will be hearing back by email/snail mail. Tough year, huh?

It's an especially tough year because I changed my phone number and they do not have my new phone number and I've been trying all last week and this week to use their stupid broken web form to update my phone number. 😡

Yea this post is either worded poorly or inconclusive. If all decisions have gone out, why have no emails shown up even for waitlist or rejection (in the past, email showed up the same day the snail mail was sent out)? Or did you mean all acceptances were already sent out and called?

Further, someone posted last week that they were accepted without a phone call.

So were you clear with admissions, and if so, which is it? All decisions have gone out and whether good or bad, it's on its way? Or all acceptances were sent out first, and those of use left waiting are simply waiting for bad news?

I just called then 3 seconds ago. They said that no changed statuses or phone calls have gone out the last two weeks. I get the impression that they can't access our information either, so they couldn't contact us even if they wanted to. They promised to have their website back up and running by this Friday June 8th, and we can update our information then.

When they will actually send us applicants any updates, acceptances, waitlists, rejections, etc is anybody's guess at this point.

Well now my login works too (it didn't an hour ago), and I updated my address / phone number. And like you, the status button generates a runtime error for me. It's all in their hands now. There is nothing more I can do but wait.
 
just got a "sorry our website was down, please update contact info we will send status notification by middle of this week" email from tufts.
 
I got the same e-mail but every time i try to access my secondary application to "update contact info" (which is unchanged but i want to make sure i login any way) the website still does not work. Is it possibly a browser issue?
 
The website was up when I logged in 1 minute ago.

It was up for me earlier today too.... now, after the update email, it's down again. Holy crappus Tufts.

I can only assume if this stays down AGAIN, that it further delays the update we just received. Unreal, truly.

Yeah, it appears to be down again for me too. Seems like a traffic problem. Really weak and very frustrating.
 
this is ridiculous..they really are testing the patience..would this turn some qualified students away from their entering class? I checked again and it is STILL not working.

On another note, I have a strong feeling that they will delay their "decision" until June 15th..After May 15th, they might have realized that they have too many students withdrawing from their class. As a result, they would shrewdly delay it so much that we would not have any options but to secure a place with Tufts. call me a conspir-ist, but this seems to be the case.

sounds good to me, although it makes no sense as the people with no other options will wait for tufts until the end no matter what, and the ones who have other options who may have chosen tufts if offered a spot earlier, will be making strong commitments to other schools (renting apartments, mentally psyching themselves up etc etc..)
 
Guys, I really doubt whether your ability to update contact info right this second will affect your decision. Take a deep breath, everything will be ok.
 
I just checked right this second and the website seems to be working!
Let us hope for the best! 😀
