Just received an email saying that their technical difficulties persist and thus they will send an EMAIL regarding our decisions later today...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

So does this mean that acceptances will also be communicated via email only, not via phone? I'd assume so, since people were also unable to update phone numbers...

Yes the email said, "You should therefore expect to receive an email from us later today communicating your current status with TUSM"

Vibes, prayers, and good luck to all!

deferred in March, rejected today... good luck to those still in the running!

if they were going to waitlist us all anyways, why the fuss about the "address" and the website?

So, one outright rejection and a buncha waitlists? No acceptances yet?

How many of you on the waitlist have other options and will go elsewhere, or is this your last hope for Fall 2016?

This is it for me. One waitlist. So right now I'm also submitting next year's app. Its an expensive double-life.

One other waitlist for me. I'm already planning on not getting accepted anywhere and if I should get a call sometime in July there will be more than a bit of annoyance mixed in with my relief.

Waitlisted as well, declining and attending BUSM instead. I guess not that many spots opened up after May 15 after all...?

I dunno. I realize not everyone uses this site, but I'm curious to see if any acceptances went out at all today, or if any one else was rejected like the previous poster.

Regardless, congrats on BUSM, and best of luck!!!

Rejected here. Differed last November.

So this means that either they havent had any withdrawals after May 15th (which is highly unlikely), or they are not acting on this "vacuum" of seats right away and will act on that once everyone is deferred--> waitlisted?

Waitlisted as well. I have another acceptance but would prefer to go to Tufts.

I am hoping for the latter case ...

Wishful thinking here ... maybe TUSM first wants to see who will "accept" their wait list offers before they start calling to accept people. That way they can avoid offering someone an acceptance who will ultimately decline (and thereby protect their yield) because that person would not have accepted a position on the wait list in the first place.

That actually seems pretty feasible, IMO.

Like I had said, obviously not every applicant or deferred person in our shoes logs onto this board. BUT, i would expect, if some acceptances were extended today, to hear about at least one of them, right???

Rejected here. I was going to Tulane anyway, I just stuck around for the ego boost. Or another soul-crushing rejejection, lol.

Best of luck to those who got upgraded from Deferred to Waitlist. Tufts always seemed like a nice school to me.

Outright rejected here, very disappointed.

I have an acceptance at Toledo and 4 other wait lists but the only schools I was considering over Toledo were Tufts and Cincy. Ive heard the Cincy class is full now and people on the top third over there still have not even gotten in (and I am on middle third) so with this rejection I think I am pretty much committed to Toledo now. About to go apartment hunting. Good luck to all those wait listed here!

Did anybody who accepted a spot on the waitlist get any sort of confirmation e-mail from Tufts?

I went from being deferred to being waitlisted. Does anyone know how quickly the waitlist is moving? I'm on the waitlist now at Tufts and 3 other schools. Spoke to the other 3 and they basically said that there waitlist isn't moving at all. Looks like Tufts is my last hope.

Yeah, it would be kind of strange if they didn't waitlist everybody (even though they said they would accept a few directly).

OK, so a bunch of waitlists and a handful of rejections. Did ANYone get accepted or hear of anyone getting accepted?

Did anyone that accepted Waitlist get a confirmation or speak with anyone?

I assume there are still spots; otherwise, how did they make the determination that some people were worthy of the waitlist, but others they could definitively say "no" to right now? If there were no spots, they could have definitively said "no" to all of us, right?

No, no and yes. There definitely must be some spots available! it is impossible if they had 200 sets filled up on May 15th lol!

True, and plus the numerous posters on this thread that withdrew consideration.

Sigh, so now we wait? If anyone knows the size of the waitlist or the timeline for movement, feel free to share...

Is it possible that Tufts initially accepted more students than the size of the entering class so even tho some students declined the acceptance it still brought them to the right amount of students and they did not have to accept any deferred students?

yes, this is exactly what happens at pretty much all schools.

I just called the Tufts admissions office. They really gave me the run around. The only info that I got out of her was that the waitlist has not moved AT ALL so far. What are the chances that this waitlist moves faster than a snail's pace? I've already started filling out my 2013 application....

Yes that is possibly, but highly unlikely.

First off, schools make that determination based on past statistics. However, it is still almost impossible to figure how many offers to extend in excess of the desired class size, so most err cautiously.

Second, someone had posted, prior to notifications, that acceptances would still be extended. Add in the fact that people within this very thread withdrew consideration, and I think it is HIGHLY unlikely that there will be absolutely no movement off the list.

That being said, obviously there's no way to know, and we should all prepare for the worst. Let the MCAT studying and reapplications begin!

Does anyone know when Tufts waitlist usually moves? The email said mid June to early July. mid June is the end of this week. Anyone hear anything?

Last year the first waitlist acceptances went out six days after the waitlist confirmation e-mails

You know this how? Please don't tell me you are going solely on SDN posts. You do know not every med school applicant uses this site and/or posts every update they have, right?

No, I actually have a man on the inside who knows the Dean's secretary...of course I'm going by SDN posts (the only information any of us have).

Right. That was my point (and an illustration of why this site can be terrible with too many people claiming absolute knowledge).

Let's not post things that are TOO speculative, especially if they are posted as fact. There is no way any of us know how late the last person got offered a spot off their waitlist last year, so lets not say things definitively which can mislead or dishearten others.

Too much crap on SDN boards, let's keep it to things we KNOW, or otherwise make clear that a post is speculative. Thanks.
