That's great! Where else did you get invited to? So I finally relented to the waiting game and decided to call today. And I got an interview invite! I actually would've gotten my e-mail today but I had to reschedule to the following week.

When you guys called, did you say flat out "I'm checking on the status of my app"?

I called for something else, and then asked if checking my app status was possible. I imagine your method would work, but I would only call if others from/past your completion date have been rejected. I think they are very orderly in how they go through the applications.

So, here's two questions that I have:

1. What is the most recent submission/completion date that has received a decision from Tulane? We should be somewhere around mid-August, but I haven't been able to follow it as clearly as I could earlier.

2. Will they wait on all my LORs before making a decision? I got the complete email on 9/2, but one of my LORs was submitted yesterday - don't know if that will hold them up or not.

Thanks for all the insight with the process so far. Sounds like an amazing place to be. . .

Who did you call? When I called up there they said they wouldn't give any status updates over the phone?

Got invites to UF and Drexel in addition to Tulane. I have 3 interviews in two weeks. Gonna be crazy.

I just called the general Admissions number; I would advise against calling for your status until people in your Complete e-mail date have gotten rejected plus an extra week or so. I was complete almost two months ago so it was clear to them that I really had a reason for a status check.

Does anyone know if interviewing the first week of November is too late? Would it be advisble to call and try to reschedule earlier? Not trying to sound neurotic but I've gotten advice at other schools to not wait and interview ASAP.

Nice! It's pretty crazy for me trying to juggle intense schoolwork plus hit the interview trail but it's totally worth it!

I was complete 8/3 and got the interview invite on Friday of last week. Hope that gives you an idea. Can't really speak on the letter situation tho, since I just don't know. Hope this helps.

I'm interviewing the first week of November, and looking at last years thread, we are in great shape.

Hmm that's interesting because I am in a similar situation but they said they wouldn't give me a status update... Oh well, just gotta hope I hear soon

Does anyone know how to get from the airport to the downtown area? Is there any sort of public transportation? I don't really want to spend 70 dollars round trip in cab fare...

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown (near the Superdome) and took the airport shuttle. Easy and convenient, and only cost $38 round-trip.

complete 8/23 and haven't heard anything either... i'm pretty sure they rejected someone complete 8/22 a while back so hopefully they passed my completion date.

Did it take anyone else over one month to get the complete email?

Yep first Friday; we might be on the same day! Looking forward to coming down to NOLA!

Thanks. How much longer past one month? I'm getting antsy and am wondering whether I should call. It's been about 1 month and 1 week since I submitted.

it took 31 days. haven't heard anything else yet.

What's for lunch at Tulane? Also, what is the day set up like? Interview feedback didn't really go into detail. Thanks!

orientation
tour of the sim lab
interviews (2 with faculty)
lunch (interview) (gumbo, salad, potato salad and bread when I was there)
tour

only about 12 people per interview day
really laid back, interviewers are just trying to get to know you. The spread they had for breakfast was really good, too.

Do you think it would be okay to bring a PBnJ sandwich for my lunch? I'm a vegetarian, but I also don't want to offend anyone or have them think I'm just picky!

there were vegetarian options; you have your student interview while you eat lunch, so the food probably wont be the focus.

For those who interviewed already, it'd be great if you can explain what the interview day was like. Do they provide breakfast in the morning? When are the interviews conducted and when do we tour the facilities? Thanks guys

I'm a Q and A matchmaker!

The main course for my day was....fried chicken...my interviewer told me to go at and that if I didn't have grease on my face he would think less of me!

Guys dont stress about the process here...honestly it seems like they want to accept everyone they interview and are just making sure you are not super weird and then they to a background check! So if both of those things are a-ok, you should probably be accepted here, maybe off the waitlist but accepted none the less....(conclusions drawn by what the adcoms said and numbers given to us)

Hi everyone!

I'm applying to Tulane for the 2012 entering class. I've received my secondary two days ago and will submit the completed application tonight.

Complete 8/8, II 9/29! Super excited to interview here. 🙂

Does anybody know anything about the daily dress code for CLASS (FOR GUYS)? I know some schools require collared shirt and khakis, or just don't allow shorts. New Orleans gets ridiculously hot and humid, and if I can't wear shorts and a V-neck in the spring I'm gonna DIE!!

Thanks

I didn't notice any dress code (I saw plenty of people with jeans, shorts, and hoodies), I would assume that there is a dress code for certain events though (standardized patients, meeting with preceptors etc.), but I'm not sure.

Just btw....The school is so pretty, and they have such great progressive ideas!

I got the impression that they really listen to students and want to do what they can to adapt to the changing world. e.g. so many of their students do the MPH program as well and they seem to see it as the future of medicine (in that we ought to have knowledge of both fields). Also, they seemed to want to integrate more research and more opportunities to develop leaders in medicine (e.g. baton rouge campus).

i've been complete for 2 months now. anyone else either in the same boat or been in the same situation and then get an interview?

Don't hate me if I'm wrong, but it looks like ~everyone who dodges the ax next to others on their same complete date gets an invite. My guess is an interview invite is pending.

It was a few days short of 2 months for me, when I got my interview. Complete 7/29-> interview 9/22. Most likely, good news is on your way 👍

hey does anyone know what the latest date has been for receiving a "complete" email?

I submitted my secondary and all the stuff on 8/26... it's 10/1 and I haven't heard a thing. Not even a complete email!

Thanks! and good luck everyone!

I'm in the same boat! I submitted 8/24 and the only correspondence I've heard from them was the automatic email saying that the online form I completed had been successfully submitted and time stamped.

Same situation, same date.
