HOw do you know if you are complete? I submitted the secondary a long time ago (more than a month) and I have yet to receive a complete email.

I had the same question. Submitted 8/11, complete email today 9/13

Tulane, I love you!! <3 To anyone with interviews coming up, just relax - the whole day was very fun and laid-back.

Thanks for reassurance. Anything in particular we should know? Excited for this school

Based on previous posts about the admissions office I'm not sure if we'd get an answer. I was hoping someone would hear something before the weekend, but it seems that interviews haven't been handed out in awhile...I wonder if they do it in waves? They seem to do rejections constantly though.

Just as CodeBlu says all the time, SDN is not a representative sample. Maybe a lot of SDNers have already heard back (rejected/invited) and there are very few remaining ppl who are still waiting to hear back from the school. I personally think this is what's happening. So Tulane is still constantly sending out rejections/invites, but you're just not seeing it in the thread.

On 8/21 you said you were complete 10 days ago! I'm offended that you would lie on a public forum. You're a monster.

Haha, you know what, in this case, SDN is probably right and my spreadsheet is probably wrong 😀. Oh SDN - you are my new google calendar.

I agree with ppappui; I'm sure they're still constantly handing out rejections and that it just happens to be a time where no one on SDN is getting either.

I also do think though for those that get past the initial cut there's gotta be some sort of secondary screen that determines if you get an interview invite. I was complete 8/2 and have been in limbo for about 3 weeks since people around my date got rejected. I'm pretty sure it's a situation where I got through the initial screen and now they're going through a more detailed screen to decide whether I will get an interview invite.

How was everyone's interview on Monday? Was it pretty enjoyable?

Way to make me more nervous, my friend. I got the "complete" e-mail 8/3, and a long and eerie silence has followed. I'm just going to interpret it the other way and say I'll see you at our interview!

Less than a day out from this interview, already getting nervous. I hate rehearsing questions and answers but I know I should. Anyone get any particularly hard ones when they interviewed here?

rejected today, complete around 8/16. and they sent me the same email twice. like wtf?

Just finished submitting the AMCAS today. A little later, but since I just got notification of a rejection from the EDP I had applied to, I figured that I'm still in the clear for most schools.

I lived in Louisiana for about nine years, and have some pretty strong ties there, so here's hoping...

Haha, I guess I'm just trying to keep my hopes and dreams down since this is an amazing school but yeah it'd be awesome if we somehow both got the same interview date!

Don't stress yourself out about this day. Tulane has a very laid-back, warm environment. Good luck.

Invited today for an interview Monday, very last minute! Nervous! To the people who already interviewed here, any tips?

Also, this is probably a dumb question, but this is my first medschool interview, to all the girls out there, what did you wear? I bought a black pant suit and pumps, but im afraid my feet will hurt after walking all day... And also is it okay to wear a colored (not white) shirt under the jacket? I don't know what constitutes "conservative," that seems like a relative term...

Anyone else interviewing Monday, the 19th?

Personally I've always found a black suit to be a bit severe (not that it isn't appropriate if that's what you like), but I generally go with a grey suit and white shirt. I think you'll be fine with another color though, as long as it isn't too bright a color. Normal blue = fine, hot pink = crazy.

wow, they invited you for 9/19 on 9/15? That's harsh. I'm guessing you're a Louisiana resident cuz others will definitely not make it there on such short notice.

I'm a Louisiana resident, but I'm living in Milwaukee, its a bit of a stretch! But I didn't want to ask to reschedule, I'll make it work!

Nope, all very straight-forward. Dr. Sneed may ask about your opinion on healthcare reform if you interview with him, but he was so intentional about having low-stress, conversational interviews that it didn't really throw me off. His advice for the whole process was to "brag with style." 😉

I wore a dark navy blue skirt and jacket. Non-white shirts are fine. I also brought a pair of flats in my purse to change into for the tour, so I would recommend that if you think you'll get tired of the heels.

I became complete on 8/17. Waiting for the rejection... (or lack thereof 🙂 )

Congrats! When did you get the complete e-mail? Good luck at your interview on Monday!

Hmmm.

Lots of applications, 50k a year, and it's halfway through September.

Might decide to save $125 on this one.

So, do you get any other email besides:

The online form that you just completed has been successfully submitted
and time-stamped.
?

I got that on 9/2, but haven't received anything else. Just had my MCAT scores released last week, so I'm behind most of you guys right now anyway, but wanted to check to see if I should be looking for anything else.

Not really. It takes them ages to send the complete email (I think some ppl received interview invites prior to receiving the complete email) so don't really hold your breath for it. That complete email is totally irrelevant. The only thin you should be watching out for is when the mass rejections for applicants who submitted their applications on the same day as you did come out. Once past that date, you can officially start waiting for some sort of notification 🙂

Interviews went really well today, no hard questions.
Really didn't get a great impression of the school, all they did was talk up New Orleans. Saw the med school buildings and sim lab and anatomy lab, but it seemed like the only place in the hospital we went was the first floor lobby.
Not sure what I think about it overall, gotta give it some time to sink in I guess.

Any health care or ethical questions at all?

Can't remember if the other interviewees said they got any, I think not. But it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Just got a few harder personality questions, "what got you into medicine?", "what's been your biggest difficulty?", "what would your closest friends say about you?"
Also, like the interview reviews said, they love to ask "why tulane?"

Congrads...
What was your stat if you don't mind me asking.

My stats are actually not good, but I have amazing rec letter, and a lot of activities. Its my second year teaching chem and anatomy in an underserved community. Admission committees definitely looked passed the numbers...I have gotten 4 interviews with these stats soo far!

3.2 gpa

3.0 science gpa

MCAT 12 ps, 8 v, 10 bio

Dartmouth College 10'

Cheers to all!

I personally didn't get any of those, but two other interviewees told me they did get ethical questions from the same interviewer. Overall, everyone agreed that the interviews were very conversational. It's not high stress at all. So just look over the interview feedback questions and you should be good to go.

I do agree with what Missorleans said about how the school focused more on the appeal of New Orleans rather than the school itself. I think a good way to find out more about the school is to talk with the students that you'll meet in the lounge, with your student host, or with your student interviewer.

Dear Tulane,

I <3 u. Please give me your secondary soon.

🙂
-Me

P.S. I'm glad interviews are so laid back! Awesome! Any more axe updates or are "complete" secondaries few and far between at this point for SDNrs?

Good luck to yall interviewing tomorrow! I'll be interviewing down the road at LSU NO. Hope yall got to check out the city this weekend.
