Submitted my acceptance of the offer via email to the email address given in the acceptance letter that was sent home. Also put down the $100 deposit. Got a reply from the admissions office within 2 days. This was the first week of october. Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Do we need to submit the $100 deposit this week too? The way the letter was written it sounded like we could submit it anytime before May.

Turned in my secondary in Sept., and now the application is finally complete and under review! :xf: Only time will tell with this stuff!

Yea, that's what I thought too. It made it sound like just do it before May, and then that's sort of your final commitment (because I know a lot of people are probably waiting to hear back from other schools as well).

Were you early decision? I thought they couldn't tell us before October 15th?

Same boat, let me know what they say?

I didn't get a response either. Also, we don't need to submit a deposit til we decide where we're going in May, right? (From reading the letter, I am 99% sure this is the case, but someone here mentioned submitting the deposit, so just wanted to neurotically doublecheck 🙄)

it says on their website that you need put down the deposit before may 15th or some such date. you only have to send the email within a week to hold your place.

Hi, could you please elaborate a bit on this? what do you mean community medicine, are you talking about specific programs with regards to primary care ... thanks!

I'm a T1 here at Tulane and I think the school is doing a great job with primary care focus (even for us first years). We just had a great talk last week by Dr. Streiffer who heads up the primary care dept about where the field is headed. Tulane has done a great job with primary care with regard to community medicine.

If you have the opportunity to come here, do it. This is an exceptional place to be.

I was early decision. Deposit anytime before may 15th. Email to hold spot until then. Sorry for any confusion caused. Just relating my experience with response time from tulane admissions office. Goodluck all!

Replied to the e-mail this afternoon, and received a reply 15 minutes ago.

If the deposit is intended to reserve your seat in the class, and if it's due anytime before May 15, doesn't that defeat its purpose?

Edit: Nevermind,I guess the act of submitting the deposit is tantamount to the act of agreeing to matriculate.

Sorry, we have a biochem exam on Friday, so rather than put up links and/or info for you, I'd encourage you to do some research. Read up on Dr. Karen DeSalvo and our community outreach clinics. Google it up, my friend. I think one of the real keys of understanding (and getting accepted to) Tulane is understanding this aspect of the school.

5 star thread 🙂

How soon after the interview do they get back to you?

2-4 weeks. They'll let you know if you're waitlisted or rejected, instead of making you wait til the end of the cycle.

I got a confirmation that the school received my acceptance of my acceptance, 😀

if you walk down canal towards the river there's a few good restaurants. If you go down to the french quarter, there's a lot of well-known places, galatoire's (~$20/entree), brennan's(~$15/entree). More reasonably priced down there is Acme Oyster House. On canal down towards the river is one of my favs, the Palace Cafe, it's not cheap either, but they have this appetizer, crabmeat cheesecake, its great. I'm kind of a foodie so if you're looking for something cheaper, my bad. Mother's cafe is down towards the river on poydras, good poboys.
Right around tulane med school there's the bar that they said the main students hang out at, I think it's Handsome Willy's.

If you have transportation, Mahoney's on Magazine St has great Po-Boys. Seriously. And also pretty amazing fries. 🙂

Parkway Bakery for poboys... get the fried shrimp and roast beef one. Delicious.

Thanks!

Now any tips for eateries 🙂 ?

Café du Monde!!!! They serve beignets, which are like french donuts. They're awesome and I go at least twice every time I'm in NOLA.

I second Mother's for po'boys. They also have really good breakfast.

Any recent interview invitations? I was complete in early September and the rejection wave seems to have thoroughly passed me

cafe du monde is good, but they put too much powdered sugar (yes, there is such a thing as too much powdered sugar), so definitely don't wear good clothes if you're gonna go there.

did someone already mention Johnny's poboys? if so, second.

Interview invite today! Complete 8/22. Hang in there, it seems to be taking a little longer now for the interview invites to go out.

To everyone who was accepted, congrats! And thanks for all the restaurant suggestions, I'm excited to visit NOLA!

Also got an interview invitation today! Complete 08/18. Can't wait!

I went to a bunch of restaurants the week I was there, but I reallly loved Cafe Atchafalaya. It was so good, and the selections on their cheese plate were amazing.

Interview invite! Complete in mid August. 37S, 3.9 gpa.

Complete 8/23 and still haven't received an official invite email...for those who received the email today, when are they scheduling your interviews?

I had submitted my secondary in early September and I just got an email saying im complete. :/

I interviewed a couple weeks ago and haven't heard back yet. Is it wrong to call and ask? Or do I need to suck it up and chill out. Anxiety is killer cause this is my top choice...

I thought they said at the interview it would be 3-4 weeks until a decision? Unless it's been a month since you interviewed, I would try and relax. 🙂

This is how you handled your wait for the interview invite e-mail. I know 'it's your time' and everything, but you've gotta learn some patience.

Thanks BSU. Hope I get some good news soon too so I can stop workin yalls nerves in here!

Does Tulane do a Second look?

Is there a way to check your status on the Tulane website?

I submitted my secondary in September but I still haven't received a complete email!

Me too. same question. ?

So for those of us accepted and such, does anyone happen to know much about financial aid. What I'm interested in is any information about scholarships: "The Tulane School of Medicine administers several scholarship programs, all of which are listed in the school’s Bulletin/Catalogue." - but I can't find anything! Where the heck is the Bulletin/Catalogue?

I also submitted my secondary in late September with no complete e-mail. It seems from the thread that early in the cycle people were getting completed in around 5 weeks. Most recently, it seems to be closer to 7-8 weeks to receive the complete e-mail.

Hang in there. I have faith that it will come eventually. 😉 (On a side note, I love you Tulane, send me my complete e-mail! Plzkthx):biglove:
