Waitlisted too. Alumni family (father, sister, brother from med school and mother from law school)
Interviewed 12/12.
Go figure.

i'm so down for a coordinated group effort

I just got the background check email........that means I'm accepted somewhere right?? Is there any way to find out what school requested it and how long has it taken you guys to hear from the school once you've received that email???? I've waited so long...and now...more...waiting.......

Unfortunately, it doesn't mean for sure that you were accepted. Schools that waitlist you also have the option to run the background check on you. I'm unsure of any way to find out which school requested it.
Well I was wait listed 3 times last year and didn't get that email. Cautious optimism, my friend.

I got the same one today as well, I like the cautious optimism angle and am going with that as well
when did you interview?
Accepted.

If you are still hoping for this school, I'll give you a little insight into my application. Don't lose hope on some of the suggested trends. My community service sucked pretty bad. I had 70 hours of ER volunteering, and that was about it. Also, I think someone mentioned that they don't look favorably on variable MCATs. That doesn't seem to be true in my care. I had a 12/9/12, and that was my 4th MCAT. I improved pretty heavily on the sciences on #4, but went from three 10s to a 9 on VR. My WS went from 3 Ps to an O.
My strong points were great clinical experience (shadowing/full time hospital work), work experience (3 serving jobs), my secondaries and my LORs. I have zero research experience.
My opinion on what counts (if its worth anything), is an appreciation for New Orleans and the uniqueness of Tulane, and evidence of an ability to click with a diversity of people as well as work your ass off. What I picked up on was how happy and proud everyone is to be there. All the students were great, and seemed to have lives outside of school. I think the faculty knows this and wants to keep that fun, hard-working atmosphere alive.

I interviewed 1/9 and am still waiting to hear back. Has anyone from that date or earlier still not received a decision?
Accepted! Snail mail. It was only one piece of paper- I thought it was a rejection.
My first acceptance! SO relieved and excited!

Most people at tulane are OOS...
http://www.medicalschoolsinusa.com/Tulane_University_School_of_Medicine.html
Yeah...your right. And looking at those stats, while they may be outdated, 9000 applications for 500 interviews is pretty tight any way you look at it.

It's over 10,000 applications for 500 interviews these days... so don't feel bad at all. It's a difficult cycle.
How long after sending the email intent to accept position in class email did people receive confirmation? Or have recent accepted students received confirmation at all?
I know at the beginning of acceptances there was some talk of this but not recently.
I don't remember receiving confirmation, but I got an email from a student and from tulane advertising their MD/MPH program, so I guess they know I didn't decline...
ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!
via snail mail. Interviewed Jan 27th, letter of acceptance mailed Feb 2nd. 😀
I responded affirmative and sent in the deposit within 10 minutes of receipt
Ironically I was going to write Barbara a letter of intent this evening. 😉
Some serious joie de vivre here as a T-0, upstream in Montana right now... laissez les bons temps rouler!!! 😍

Awesome! Congrats MT Headed!!
I interviewed there yesterday and I have to say my experience was simply breath taking, to say the least. I would love more than anything to end up here next year. I also honestly can't believe how quick the turn around time was for you post interview. Hope the same happens for me.

My experience at Tulane was jaw dropping. I truly felt at home. Honestly I felt a better fit there than I did at the WWAMI program 😱. If New Orleans felt right to you too, I look forward to seeing you there.
Good luck on your WWAMI interview in a couple weeks!

Although I ultimately withdrew, I received confirmation of my intent to accept a position about 2.5 weeks later via email.

Rejected :/ Complete since early October.
Me too. Complete since late September. 3.9+ GPA 34R MCAT OOS. Kinda expected it after not hearing for so long.
Hey future T1s! Congrats to those of you who've already been accepted!
I am a current T2 and I know this is quite early but I am looking for a roommate to live in my 2 br apartment next year, starting June (May if you need to). This is probably most aimed at MD/MPH students or people looking to move to town early to get settled. When I was a rising T1 I found it difficult to find a place to rent ahead of time so if you like this place and think I'm sort of alright, this would make your home-hunting way easier.
Sorry for the spam, and I am keeping fingers for those of you who have yet to hear back.
If you are interested in talking to me about the apartment, PM me or email me at [email protected]

Thanks!!
And congrats everyone!!
Accepted! I had an amazing time in New Orleans last weekend after interviewing Friday, and was shocked to get a call from my interviewer earlier today. Tulane really seemed to convey to me they were first and foremost dedicated to developing holistic physicians with an emphasis on service. Being in New Orleans may be a unique opportunity to be on the front lines of an effort trying to reform the health system away from a dependency on tertiary care

rejected b&e this morning. (woke up to it about 8AM...early enough to go back to sleep..lol)
Samesies. Complete 10/24.
Also rejected this morning, pre-interview. I've been complete at Tulane since 9/18 by my books and 10/31 by theirs. Not too surprised since I hadn't heard a word from them since October. Best of luck to all of you still hanging in there - seems like you've made it past a bunch of cuts this week.

yay thats exciting!
Does anyone know if Tulane requires parent information on the FAFSA for independent students in order to be considered for institutional aid? Only some schools do, but I can't find any information either way on Tulane's website.
Got the acceptance packet today, with a nice scholarship package to boot! Interviewed 2/3. 😀
What eez this acceptance packet? I want that.
