Beware of advisors. Most have no idea what they are talking about. Some schools (like Georgetown) pretty much won't accept you without one. Others might care less, but the "some schools" referred to above might only be like 5.

Yeah, he's been pretty good, and this is basically all he does, only teaches one class per semester, if that. But its not like he's keeping a record of who sends update letters to what schools and is later accepted, either. Idk. I'm only going to send an update to one school, 'cause it's my first choice so far, still haven't been accepted there, and I've done a new fellowship and got a new job since submitting my app.

sweet! I think i will too then. If you don't mind me asking, how do you plan on sending your grades? In a letter, or order a transcript and send it, or get scan/email the transcript?

I was thinking of just listing my grades in a letter and hopefully they'll just believe me. It's just the quickest way.

I was going to send a letter and enclose my unofficial transcript. My school allows us to download something similar to the official transcript without the price.

would it be reasonable to expect another round of admissions on/around Jan 15th? this time for those who interviewed mid Nov through December?

i interviewed in late october, havent heard anything yet... not too far over the 8week mark though i guess, dunno about those who were earlier...

For those of you who interviewed before November and didn't get accepted/rejected yet, did you receive 'still under consideration' email or waitlisted via snail mail?

Interviewed mid-September... no still under review email or anything.

I interviewed on 9-23 and have still not been accepted, rejected, or wait listed. I did, however, receive the "under consideration" email in late October or early November.

I interviewed October 20 and have received no communication at all.

does the status page change for those who are rejected/waitlisted?

I actually contacted them about this. I emailed Lindsey Huddleston ([email protected]) and she requested that I attach my fall semester grades as a PDF. I'm a Vanderbilt undergrad so I could have just as easily brought them a paper copy - I think they prefer it to be electronic if possible. I do think they would appreciate the time it takes to mail a letter, though; Dean Zic is really enthusiastic about receiving updates. Good luck!

Also - I interviewed October 28th and have heard nothing (no letter, email, call). No news is good news, right?

good luck everyone in this new year. hopefully we find good luck in the next admission date!

I emailed the admissions director and she referred to me being on the "wait-list" when I told her that I was on active review. Not a big deal but I thought it was worth mentioning. My chances appear bleak on the wait-list but I would love to get a call from Dr. Zic!

I'm guessing you had the active review email but never got a waitlist letter in the mail? I guess I might be in the same position as well.

Withdrew my acceptance. Good luck getting it!

did somebody say the committee meets on Fridays? They could be meeting right now :O

No, I'm referring to my "active review" snail mail (which said my app would be reviewed throughout the season) with is worse than the email people have been getting from what I gather.

Has anyone ever been accepted after the promised 8-week time span without being placed on waitlist first? If you have, please share your story with us...I'm seriously starting to lose my hope...

Does anyone think that calls will go out today?

Doubt it. They've only had one week since since the Christmas/New Years holidays. I'm thinking next Sunday or the one after that.

Well if you don't count the three holidays where they probably didn't meet, you might still be in the 6-8 week zone! I'm not sure, but hope is nice right?

Calls went out on Sunday, January 9th last year, so possibly...

but last year's pre christmas acceptance calls came out a week earlier than this years calls..

but who knows.

every time this thread updates, a little part of me dies.

I would assume that acceptances are given out at fairly regular intervals. Based on this reasoning, I assume that calls will likely go out next week.

16 weeks on Tuesday for me. I'm not expecting too much from Vandy now.

You've interviewed at awesome schools, some where I have to. If you got accepted to all of them which would you attend ? (if you don't mind)

I would have a very hard time deciding if I got accepted to all of them. I've asked myself this question before, and it's tough to answer.

Go with the one that gives you the best financial aid package.

I interviewed at the end of September. We are not heading to the middle of January.
Does anyone know if anyone has been rejected post-interview?
Is no news good news here or what? Can someone call and ask?

I called a month before ; they said they were going to mail out a bunch of decisions.
I have heard nothing from them since my interview.

I think the best thing to do for right now is to wait until the end of this weekend, since they might call with decisions (just a guess based on the timing from last year). And if we don't hear anything after this weekend, then give them a call.

Thoughts?

I agree!

That is exactly what I was thinking too. I am going to call them after the January decisions.

How's last year's process compared to this year's?

I think this is the only year that they've sent the "file still under review" to those >8 weeks out from the interview. There are tons of us that are coming up on 4 months of waiting to hear something. In the past, they have generally sent a decision within 8 weeks.

Guys,
I have not received anything since my interview date.
No email , No snail mail. Anyone else in a similar position?

How many of you found it useful to research your interviewer a little bit before the actual interview / did any of you actually bring up a topic with your interviewer that you found by researching their background?

I think it might be useful if you're interested in or have experience in your interview's field. I wasn't and I don't, so we didn't talk about it all.

I haven't been in this thread in a while, and it looks like a lot of you are in the same position as me -- I interviewed the first week of September, received an "active review" email and haven't heard anything since. I'm guessing either they're accepting fewer applicants outright and keeping a "continued" list, or "under active review" is a nicer way of phrasing "waitlisted." Frankly, I'm more surprised I wasn't rejected right off the bat post-interview, considering I thought both of my interviews here went terribly.
