Quick question for those who are already accepted:

Y'all said that you can check acceptance decisions online.
1. When is the earliest that you think this is possible. Would it be Saturday, or Sunday?
2. If you don't get accepted out right, nothing changes on the status page correct?

I'm just writing to see if we can find a more efficient way to find out than just sitting idly for a phone call.

I'm only a sophmore in undergrad so I have over a year until I apply to Vandy, but it's definitely my first choice.

I just wanted to congratulate all of you who got accepted and wish those who are waiting the very best of luck. My fingers are crossed for you! :xf:

Phone call or snail mail. Those are the only two ways Vanderbilt will get in touch with you for something important.

I had the same question. So when was the earlist that you saw the button to accept the offer?

Hello all!

My name is Sean and I am a first year at Vanderbilt. We have created a facebook group for accepted students and would be happy to answer your questions there. About the group, please just accepted students ask to join!

I know a lot of you are still waiting to hear back from Vandy. Just (try) and be patient. I know I hated the wait just as much as you guys. I would be happy to answer any general questions that y'all may have.

This cycle is really messing with my head. I've had multiple dreams of getting off the wait-list here. Sucks when I wake up and realize nothing happened.

I remember checking my Vandy online application 2 days after I got the acceptance call and the accept button was there.

Do they for sure call? At Interview yesterday they said all correspondence would be via US mail from here on out

I don't know man.

I interviewed way back in August and got accepted in October. I'm just basing everything I comment here on my own experience. I did get a snail mail letter for both the interview invite and the acceptance.

Thanks. Also, how much weight does the interview report hold? If anyone knows

But that didn't stop you from checking 😀

Me too.

is it 9 pm ET or CT or...?

Maybe the calls will go out Monday since it's a long weekend...

I got nothing today. Interviewed 11/14. How about y'all? I suppose it's on to the wait list?

I interviewed on the 29th of September and have heard nothing since. It cannot be good news at this point.

Same, interviewed mid november and nothing.

Maybe not waitlist...isn't there a list of people they don't give an official decision to until march? In march they will decide yes, no, or waitlist?

I have to say, I had a really positive impression of Vanderbilt based on the things that I had heard about the school by word of mouth, but the admissions office's failure to keep anywhere close to their time frame for many applicants is disappointing. I appreciate that this process is just as much of a burden for schools as it is for applicants, but the professional thing to do if you have told applicants 6-8 weeks and they are waiting twice that long or more would be to make contact with them. This has not happened for me, and it seems it hasn't happened for many others as well. Vanderbilt is a great school, but this kind of makes me nervous to take anything else the admissions office told me about the program with much more than a grain of salt.

I wouldn't take it personally. I'm told that the process is slower this year because the quality of the applicant pool has increased drastically. I'm sure there will be a lot of acceptances given out near the end of the interview season. In fact, only four Vanderbilt undergraduates have been admitted up until now (generally 20-25 are accepted each year).

How difficult is it to send an email to applicants? 15 minutes to figure out what to write and then send it out to the right people. They said one thing and are doing something else. This process is filled with enough uncertainty to begin with.

I wouldn't take it personally either, but it does reflect poorly on the admissions office. That said, I think it implies little, if anything, about the med school as a whole and wouldn't let it be a factor in deciding whether or not to attend if you have that choice.

I'm still hoping for good news.

Would you mind sharing where the information comes from? Do they usually do accept a lot toward the end?

This is information from our health professions advisory office at Vanderbilt. So I'm not actually sure if they usually accept a lot toward the end, but what I did hear is that the admissions process is slower this year.

In my view, what Vanderbilt is doing this year is no different from other schools "continuing" some applicants.

I called the admission office and they said this application cycle was an "extended cycle" with the response time being 14-16 weeks. They did not give more information and suggested we wait longer.

So are they implying that it is no longer a 6-8 week turn-around time and that the time between interview and admission decision is now 14-16 weeks?

I stayed anonymous during the phone call only mentioning I interviewed in September. They said this in reference to me. It could just be a standardized answer.

I called, too. I just couldn't let another week go by. Anyway, they even if we haven't heard anything, it seems that we're still under review until we do.

One good thing to point out, the lady that I spoke with was extremely nice and willing to look me up in their system.

I guess there's still hope for us, then.

Do you guys know for sure the call went out this Sunday???
:scared::scared::scared::scared:
I know Dobrya said he/she got the call at 11AM pacific...anyone else got the call?

If there is, I'd like to hear something encouraging soon! It's hard not to kind of forget about Vandy, since I interviewed in the beginning of September.

So, I know this was attempted to be answered earlier, but I don't think it ever was. Those of you that are saying that you haven't heard anything since your interview, do you guys mean you haven't heard anything at all? (no "continuing review" email, etc.) For that matter, has anyone been plain "rejected" since having an interview?

I interview in December and am just trying to figure out how they are doing things this year 🙂

Interviewed first week of October, zero communication since then. No letter, call, email, etc.

Ok, thanks... I guess I'll expect the same thing then! It'd be interesting to see where they are in the application process in terms of % class filled, how many acceptances they have offered (and when they have interviewed), which interviewees they are evaluating right now (September, October interviewees, etc.) and so forth.

Also accepted yesterday! Phone call after 9pm with a merry voice mail attached. Interviewed 11/4.

It's interesting to note that some people that have interviewed only had a 4 week turn around time, which means that they must expedite acceptance to some people.

The person above interviewed in November and heard something... I know there are a lot of you that interviewed in September, October, November and December and haven't heard anything.

So, I guess there's hope for anyone that has interviewed 4+ weeks ago to hear anything at any time! Best of Luck to everyone :luck: We just have to just sit patiently and wait.

These things would be nice to know, but I bet they would be unwilling to release this information.

one thing you can ask is whether a letter has been sent, they can easily look up this piece of information. They said you should get a letter no matter what the decision is. So this might tell you if a decision has been made on your file. worth something maybe?

I just called the office this morning and was also told that I should expect a response between 12-16 weeks from my interview date. I informed her that I have been [anxiously] waiting for over 12 weeks, but she explained that almost 200 applicants are in the exact same boat as myself. For those of you still waiting and have not received ANY communication at all, keep the faith! :xf:
