Received phone call from Auburn University with offer of admission (post Bachelors), more information to follow in email format. No specific POI as it is a program designed to be collaborative.
I'm not sure if someone already asked this, but I'm just curious how long the wait time is after interviews to find out good news.
I guess more specifically, is there a set date where schools HAVE to tell you your status? For example, we have to decide where to go by April 15... anything like that but the opposite way?
Yes, they have to make their first round of offers by April 1st. Usually though, they're happy to tell you when they expect to make first offers at the interview, and all the programs I've visited have emphasized that they are happy to answer questions about where they are in the admissions process, and they aren't bothered or annoyed by them. The actual wait time seems to range between three weeks and a couple days after the interview, depending on the program.
Is it in bad taste to inquire where exactly you stand when placed on the alternate list for admission? I was placed on the list and told to stand by but I would like to know if I'm next on the list or if there is four others in front of me. Any advice?
Some places will tell you and some won't. Some places don't rank their alternates. Some places are trying to create a certain balance in the incoming cohort, meaning that you're an alternate for one or two other accepted people but not an alternate for the other accepted people. You could probably ask whether or not you have a reasonable chance of getting accepted, which is a way of finding out if you are "high" on the list or not, but there's still a good chance they won't tell you if they didn't already.

The anxiety is tough but if I've dealt with it for this long what's another month?
Received email from DOT offering admission into Fall cohort as a post bachelors level. POI to be assigned later.
So, I have been waitlisted at a couple schools I have already interviewed at and was wondering how common it is to get off the waitlsit into a school. It's a bit disheartening not to get an initial invite, and I'm wondering if I should be giving up at this point. Anyone else just waitlisted at this point? Any insignt on this part of the process would be helpful.
Nice, I was there this weekend too. My POI said he'd meet with his students on Tuesday, let us know by Wednesday. Who is your POI?Interviewed at LSU on Thursday/Friday and already heard back -- I'm the first alternate for my POI. There were four spots, one has already accepted. Now I just wait and hope!
I think it depends on the program, to be honest. Loyola MD said they have never had to use their waitlist and I've been waitlisted there. So, yeah, not counting on that one.
Hmmm...since I have been wait-listed at Loyola also...that does not sound encouraging then. Did they call it alternative list in your case also? I somewhat still hope for Loyola...the email said "alternative list...blah, blah,blah...I will be in touch ASAP" - soooo, I am waiting for that....AM I delusional??? 🙂
Anyone heard any news from VCU?
Received acceptance offer for the Clinical PhD program via email from POI.
CONGRATS...GREAT SCHOOL, AND GREAT STATE 😉 (i'm biased of course)
Can we just keep this the acceptance thread? (I.e just posting acceptances). We are all waiting to hear from programs and every time I see a new post on this thread I think it's an acceptance, when it's just "has anyone heard from X?" or "can whoever got into xxx PM me?". Forgive my irritation, but if you see an acceptance post by your program of choice-PM that person directly for more details if you're interested.
Thanks! Good luck!
That would work for the most part, but sometimes an acceptance just shows up on the master list (because they only PM'd the moderator and didn't post to the thread), so people see their school of choice but have no idea who to PM. 🙂
I actually disagree with this. If you don't want to read everyone's posts, why don't you just check the first page for updates and then you won't have to worry about it? I don't want everyone to know which schools accepted me because I would rather maintain some anonymity on here, but when people post and ask about a school I know something about, I will send them a PM and give them more information. The system seems to work for the vast majority of people following this thread. I'm sorry it is bothering you, but I don't think we necessarily need to adjust how we all post because of that.
What a novel and brilliant idea!!! Thanks for the tip-except that there acceptance posts on here that are not reflected on the first page. Uh oh!
I have been waitlisted at Syracuse University... but I was not interviewed. Has this happened to anyone else?
I just received admission offer via phone call from the program director for CUNY's clinical Ph.D. program.🙂
Okay, you clearly have some kind of mojo going on here as you are ROCKING the acceptance thread this year! 😀 Now, tell me....what's your secret???
Haha, that is very very kind, Thank you!! 😛 Man do I wish I knew! I applied a couple years ago and didn't have much luck! It's such a bizarre process. Thanks again, this forum has been so supportive...I am sending you all kinds of positive vibes, and I hope you get into your #1!!
BTW, weird that Fordham has been silent, right?
